I used to love Wild Iris, but it has dropped in quality over the past 2 years...It doesn't seem like the place can keep consistent employees for starters. I used to look forward to seeing the staff every morning. They recognized me, and it got to the point where they would remember my order. Now every few weeks or so it's someone new.

They also keep raising their prices. I know that it's a local business, and that's why I'd like to go there, but it's $2.79 for a small drip coffee...I mean it's $1.84 at Starbucks. And who wants to pay $5 for a piece of quiche? I could go to the market and buy eggs, half n half, cheese, and a vegetable for $10 and make a whole quiche myself. How can your prices be that high and you still keep having to raise them to make a profit? It didn't used to be that expensive. I understand that costs change, but you should cut business costs before raising the price on customers. That shouldn't be the first option.

Another thing, there are times in the day when it's so crowded, there isn't a place to sit. On several occasions I walked in and then walked right back out, because what's the point? Why would I wait in line for 20 minutes to have no where to sit anyway? It's like this ridiculous hang out for AA meetings or NA meetings. I understand that this is a recovery town, but there should be reservation times for formal meetings. That way they aren't all there at once.

One last comment, does the decorator have ADD? There is always some new outrageous piece of art on the wall that almost looks good but not quite, or there is some sort of new shelving unit, or the cooler changed the corner it was in. Wild Iris is just an inconsistent mess most of the time. I miss the way it used to be: Friendly, relaxing, and tasteful. Now its disengaged, stressful, and chaotic.

This place is really unique, a hidden oasis in Downtown Prescott. It has a beautiful courtyard surrounded by green trees with a fountain in the middle to provide some water therapy! The inside is really calm and soothing, with a high ceiling with skylights and plenty of windows that provide natural lighting and overlook the creek bed. The coffee is super tasty, and the pastries are out of this world! All the pastries are made from scratch, and range from chocolate cheesecake to yummy scones. The people who work there are great and there is a really comfortable and nice energy about the whole place. I highly recommend this place for tourists AND for locals!
