If your looking to simply pull in some money then apply for this job, but understand that there are little to no perks that come with it. First off they do not conduct background checks of their own meaning that the possession of an AZ DPS guard card is considered your background check. Also despite the fact that they say your substance abuse screening is paid for it is not. They also give you a full week to take the test rather than the standard 48hours which was interesting. The company offers no insurance other than informational packets from AFLAC if you choose to set that up seperatly. Pay for guards starting with Capitol Guard and Patrol is $9.50 - $10.00 an hour regardless of experience. As far as where you will work that is random. Schedules change weekly as well as locations you will work. Also a major client of this company is FOOD CITY so expect to work there a lot. The job is basically standing in 1 spot for an entire shift...in other words a "glorified greeter". Schedules are filled out by the employee with a timesheet that is turned in for pay on the 5th and 20th of each month. Also the option of direct deposit is not offered so it will be paper paychecks. As far as vacation goes that is given at 40 hours of paid vacation or a paycheck with 40 hours on it. This is given after 2 years of uninterrupted employment. 5 years for an 80 hour vacation time. This company advertises employment through craig's list only from what I have seen. This is to save money I'm sure as I have been unable to find their jobs through popular sites costing the employer money to post such as careerbuilder, monster or jobing. If you are unfarmiliar with FOOD CITY in my opinion they attract poor people and those who are either drunk or on narcotics. So if you like to deal with that or it does not bother you then apply. Finally on a good note I thought the employees and management of this company were very nice and easy to work with. The company is among the smaller of security companies in the area and if you are looking for something that at least pays you then this might be right for you given the status of our economy. Jobs can be hard to find so at least this company offers a competitive wage in the security industry. Good Luck with your job search / employment with this company. Who knows you might even like it.
