I bought a used 1986 Jeep CJ7 from Camelback Ford Lincoln that was listed on Auto Trader. I drove from Tucson to look at the vehicle. The condition of the body was good. Some items needed attention, but for a 28 year old vehicle, I was satisfied.
I did notice the catalytic converter was not on the vehicle. I asked the manager if the price could be reduced so I could fix the problem. He refused to budge on the price, and said he could sell the Jeep at auction for the price they were asking. I figured it was a small problem to correct and bought the vehicle. Here is where I got bent over.
When I brought the Jeep to an emissions specialist, he informed me that it was not only missing the Catalytic converter, but was missing the entire emission system and part of the wiring harness for the emissions. He had also found the rear brakes to be defective and an anti sway bar and downlinks were missing from the vehicle. He said it was "a deathtrap waiting to happen." The emission Specialist informed me that it was illegal by state and federal law for a dealership to sell a vehicle that could not pass an emissions inspection or sell a vehicle that did not have the emissions components, not to mention that it was unsafe to drive.
Camelback Ford Lincoln actually called me and said that they had not performed an emission inspection on the vehicle and were willing to come to Tucson to run it through emissions. I explained to the lady, who was very nice, that the vehicle would not pass because it was sold without the emission system on the vehicle and that it was illegal for Camelback Ford Lincoln to even sell the vehicle in that condition. She said she would check with her controller and get right back with me..A week passed, no calls.
After several days of leaving messages, I was able to talk to the General manager's assistant. She said she was aware of the situation, and asked how the problem could be resolved. I stated, I would like a partial reimbursement to pay for the installation and labor of the emission system. She said Camelback Ford Lincoln was not willing to do that, but was willing to take the vehicle back for the purchase price. By this time, I had already installed new seats, brakes, missing suspension parts, and shocks. My counter was for Camelback Ford Lincoln to pick up the vehicle, install an emissions system, pass the emissions and send the vehicle back. That offer was refused...
It's funny, I signed a IM-147 disclosure that stated: "This vehicle has undergone a comprehensive evaluation by a qualified automotive technician and complies with all emissions requirements for motor vehicle dealers." All Camelback Ford Lincoln saw were dollar signs and not the safety of the customer they were serving...I would like the emissions to pass and enjoy the vehicle I bought...Up to you Camelback Ford Lincoln...

Feb 27, 2013 - - a whole new place, wonderful, professional staff!
Ask for my guys, LANE or RON from the Internet Sales Dpt!!

I believe information and research is your biggest tool in the modern world and your best weapon against scummy people! This dealership was awful in the past, and deserved all the terrible reviews you can read that date a year or more back. Please read this, because I was so shocked at the changes made, recently. They CLEANED HOUSE - - LITERALLY! :-)

I'm not the kind of customer any salesman dreams of - basically no credit, a trade in that is worth about $800 and hard to finance on my budget.
I went to this dealership about a year ago, because of it's (online) selection and ease of shopping online and was kind of scared off by some of the sales people. These guys were in their late 20's to late 30's and very aggressive. They didn't speak or conduct themselves professionally and the quality of service was awful. A customer coming in with an excellent trade, cash in-hand and looking to buy a $45k Lincoln Mkz should be treated the same as a person like me, who drove an 11 year old vehicle onto the lot, inquiring about a trade, with "no credit" and doesn't know what they can get financed for.
I recently (Feb 27th, 2012) went back there, based again on online inventory, which included pricing. (which is oddly unusual, for "mainstream" dealerships in this town)
I found an entirely new staff that was very professional, appropriately dressed for business, and treated me far better than I expected for ANY company, based on knowing my whole financial standing and worthiness. Again, even with economic slowing, where every sale counts, I'm not the customer any salesman would knowingly trip over themselves to get to me first!

I asked why the staff and feel were all different from my previous experience, a year earlier and was told a decision (from way up the food chain) was made to relieve the entire staff - everyone! Ratings were terrible and sales down and an incompetent staff made the dealership lose a credit worthiness rating, as well as a favorable Better Business Bureau standing. The new staff is new only to the location - everyone I dealt with had many years in the business, elsewhere and it showed!

I HAVE TO give a shout out and HUGE thanks and recommendation to several of the Internet Sales department guys, LANE and RON who worked as a team, over the last couple days to get me financed, work the numbers and just totally went above and beyond to get me into a great car that I totally would have never expected that I would have been able to afford! The finance guys are great also - helping to negotiate different rates and contract terms and giving me ideas on how to modify my new loan after a couple years, so that my established credit could serve as the foundation for negotiating a lower APR. I'm very lucky to have a vehicle that will hold onto it's value better than most, and help me trade up, down the road.

NO WAY! Do not go there. They sell broken cars that are unsafe to drive. They pitch this 15 Day/500 Mile Warranty all during the sale, repeat it over and over to make you feel secure in your purchase. But...for me when I brought the vehicle back within 48 hours because it was broken and unsafe to drive, broken struts and motor mounts, they just pass the buck and do nothing. They told me to bring the car back and they would fix it but after they had it for 11 days they called me and said they would not fix it because it was a "budget value deal".

I have filed a complaint with Ford Motor Company, the BBB, the Attorney General and several other legal groups and they have lied to all of them. They told the Attorney General that my car passed their safety inspection...NOT. They told the BBB that they would pay for some of the repairs but for months now I have called 2-3 times a day and not one person will return any of my calls. On the rare occasions I actually do get to talk to someone they just act stupid making comments like "I dont know why we wont fix it, we should" and still nobody does anything.

Ford Motor Company sent me information for the General Manager, Brenton Clout and contacted him directly and still nothing. I call and call and call and Brenton Clout has never once returned my calls. Brenton Clout has never once had anyone from Camelback Ford contact me at all.

Several employees at the beginning tried to help me. they said that what was going on was wrong and suggested I trade out of the car. I agreed but of course within days of these guys trying to do something...they no longer work there.

My advise to everyone is not to go there. They will do whatever it takes to make a sale. They are such stereotypical used car sales people that it is sickening. Lie after lie after lie then just ignore you and hope you go away.

I purchased an additional vehicle within a week or so of this purchase and of course I did not go back to Camelback Ford. I do have to say that there are a lot of other dealerships that actually care about and back their product, care bout their reputation and care about their customers. Camelback Ford cares about nothing except making a buck.

Don't go there, whatever you do find another dealership. These guys are horrible. Do not support their dealership. You can find a deal somewhere else with someone who will not sell you broken cars that are unsafe to drive.

Walking into this dealership one can almost hear the phrase 'Let the Games Begin' announced over the speaker system. After receiving an affirmative response to a simple email identifying the vehicle being sought, expected trade-in value

Wow! They completely exceeded my expectations. They found the exact truck I was looking for and did a great job working within my budget. They even came out to my house to show me the Sync technology.

Thanks guys!

It all starts when I needed a pick up truck. I started my search at Camelback Ford. i found a truck that was OK and started negotiating. we got down to a fair price and agreed to a few repairs to the used truck plus a full tank of gas. I was told it would be ready the next day (Monday) and that they need a check to hold it. I stupidly wrote them a check for the full amount and left feeling good.
Monday around 1 pm I call my salesman Mark Davis on his cell. I get no answer. I figure he is busy with a customer. I try again 30 minutes latter no answer again. I decide almost anyone could tell me my truck was ready. I call the sales desk and ask if my truck is ready. They tell me i need to talk to Paul Hendrix. They transfer me and I am hang up on. So I try again and get the same person tell him what happened. He say he will put me on hold and get Paul on the line and transfer me then. He hung up on me then. I called again and got the same person asked for a manager. He gave the phone to Josh. I told josh what was going on and he told me he would call me when he had information. I waited about 2 hours and at 4 pm I call back and ask for Josh the manager. about 10 minutes on hold later he comes on the line. I ask him if my truck is ready. He tells me he never talked to me and has no idea who I am. I assure him that he is who I talk to before (I recognized his voice). He told me i was wrong and hung up. I called back and he answered. I was mad now and told him so. I told him what had happened so far and that I just wanted to know if the car I have payed for was ready. He told me it wasn't. I asked who I should talk to tomorrow when I ask the same question. He said to talk to him (Josh), my salesman (Mark Davis) or their service manager (Paul Hendrix).
Tuesday I try Marks cell at about 1 pm and he answers. I ask him if my truck is ready. He tells me he doesn't know but will find out and call me back. An hour later with no word and I call him back. NO answer. Three call to his cell later I call the sales desk (2:30 ish)and Mark answers. I ask if my truck is ready he says no it still needs to go though their 151 point safety inspection. I figure safety is good so i ask when it will be ready. He say they should finish it in the morning.
Wednesday I call Marks about 12 pm and no answer. I call the sales desk and someone picks up and hangs up immediately. I call back and get the same treatment. I take a few minutes to calm down and try their service department. I get an answer and ask to talk to Paul. He says he will transfer me. The line ring and goes to a voice mail I leave a message asking to be called back with information on my truck. after about a 20 minutes wait he call me back and tells me my car has not even started. He tells me it was a trade in and that the upfront deal isn't finalized yet. I ask him what happens from here he tells me he has no idea but he will find out for me. he calls me back an hour latter and tells me that the financing department should have the upfront deal done Thursday and if they do he should be able to have it done at latest Friday.
Friday about 2 pm I call Mark's cell he answers. I ask about my truck he tells me it is ready. I come down and examine the truck and find that only 1 of 3 things we agreed to have repaired where done. He gets flustered and starts apologizing. He says he will make sure that it gets done today and that I can pick it up Saturday. He then leads me into the office and asks if I will do the paperwork today to save time tomorrow. I agree and finish most of the paperwork and leave.
Saturday I come down at about 3 pm. I tracked down Mark and he tells me he checked it himself and everything is done. I check it over and the repairs where done. He ask me to park it in a spot and come in to finish everything up. Then I notice that the tank is on E. When I go inside i ask him about my tank of gas. He says if it's not in the truck now there is nothing he can do for me. I ask to talk to a Manager. He leads me to an office and I talk to Josh again. Josh tells me that there is no money in the deal for gas and that I am out of luck. I ask if he is willing to loss future business over $30 worth of gas. He says YES. So I leave the office and go to get my temp tags and leave. I am standing in the showroom looking angry and am asked by another costumer what is wrong. I start telling them the story from the beginning and about 3 minutes into it Josh comes out of his office and starts yelling at me. Telling me if I am going to talk to other costumers I need to leave. I tell him I want to leave but needed my temp tags first. He rudely shoos the other costumer away and runs to the financing office to try and hurry the process along. When he gets the tags he comes out with me puts them on and waits until I have turned out of the parking lot before he goes back in.
I have had a few bad experiences buying cars but never had one this bad before.

Although I had a car but I had a very finite knowledge of cars and especially car dealers in US and in particular in Phoenix. In 2007 one of my friend was looking to buy a car and he invited me to go with him searching around for different card dealers...We had been to alost 4 dealers and did not find a car suitable for the needs of my friend....Also the dealers in those 4 dealership were not good in customer service at all...Then we went to Camelback Lincoln Mercury dealer and the dealers were very knowledgeable and friendly. They allowed us to go on a test drive and also told us that we can take few more days to think about the cars and then return back if we found it suitable...Both my friend and I loved the way they treated and finally my friend ended up buying a car from this dealership...They truely won us as their customers..
