Walked in and thought the atmosphere was nice and inviting. We decided to order the Spinach Fondue and that was really good. The bread was a little salty but who doesn't like salt? My wife ordered the walleye and it above average. The corn crust didn't really seem to cover that much. It was more walleye with a light coating of breading. The walleye itself was fresh and didn't taste fishy at all. The fries were really good. I ordered the honey pork-chop based off of previous reviews. It was big but over-cooked. Maybe it was an off night but it wasn't as good as I thought it would be.

Overall, it was a decent meal and might try again but with so many options in downtown, it might be awhile.

I had the steak here and it was absolutely delicious. Great restaurant. It kind of spendy but most hotel restaurants are. Our server was great. I would recommend this place

The pork chops are huge, impressive, and way tasty. Being quite large, there is no possible way they could be cooked to order in the time afforded an average patron for dinner. Consequently they are cooked earlier and stored. This seems odd, but it is a common practice with large cuts of meat. Ok, so... I received *my* chop and it was barely warm which was unfortunate because I was quite excited. I sent it back to be reheated and it returned a bit browner but still not warm enough. I almost suggested it be brought up to a core temp of at least 150f but elected to finish it as is. If this chop was to temperature, it would have been the best one I have ever had. The apple and yam side was amazing however the rosemary garnish mildly reeked of mildew. It is the opinion of this writer that a bit more attention to the details would propel this restaurant's stellar menu to new heights.

I had breakfast the other day at FireLake for the first time. I can't understand why it was so slow. What a hidden gem. I tried the Asparagus Bruschetta Benedict, it was fantastic. My fiancee had the stuffed french toast. The canadian bacon, they call it something else, was the best I have ever had. The service was terrific. Tyrone treated us like a guest in his home. I loved the open kitchen to watch the Chef's work.
It was a great experience and we will be back soon with friends.

I went to Fire Lake for the first time with a group of people. Belinda was our server. She made excellent suggestions for food and drink, and made it fun and easy for everyone at the table. The food was amazing. I had the smoked pork chop- Hands down the best pork chop I have ever had. I tried the bacon-wrapped bison. it was so tender and delicious. And I forgot how good mashed potatoes can be until I ate the white cheddar-herb mash they have. I am going to go back soon just to try their rotisserie prime rib.-oh my god that looked amazing!! It was just nice to eat simple but awesome food in a warm, layed back atmosphere. definitely check it out!

The waitress was brisk and condescending and simply lying about ingredients. When asked about a particular wine, she responded "local." When pressed as to the area, she responded Napa Valley. I said that's California, and she retorted haughtily, "That's local." The restauarnt prides itself on local grown and organic foods. Something 1,500 miles away is hardly local. The much touted Elk steak was tough and full of sinew and would not even pass for poor quality beef. I have had Elk steak at the Old Fort restaurant near Denver and it melted like butter. I am beginning to wonder what it was they served me. Old horsemeat, perhaps?

The sad thing is that this restaurant carries the Chaine des Rotisseurs plaque, usually a sure sign of culinary quality. Either improve your food and service or take the sign down quickly.

Good option to have for business meetings over a meal. Nice wine list, plenty of options, great flatbread pizzas and warm, quiet atmosphere. Service has been consistently good and private room is available for larger parties.

We had the homemade chips and dips as an app, it was tasty as was our entrees. Server was OK, but to make it a bad experience it took FOREVER (OK 15 mintues) for her to process our payment. I hate being held hostage when I am ready to leave a restaurant. Why is it so difficult?

My fiance and I went here to enjoy a nice evening thinking this would be super nice with great food. We got a reservation like they recommended but was completely unnecessary. Our reservation was for 7 pm on a Friday and there were about 3 or 4 other tables there. The waitress was slow even though she had no other tables and recommended a horrible drink which was pricey as well. Ordered a steak and fish which was good but not anything special. We also had a side of asparagus which was literally just asparagus on a plate. We won't be going back and don't recommend it.

I love FireLake! FireLake has a wonderful lunch menu with great monthly specials. I try to eat lunch there at least once a month. The service is always "just right "- friendly, attentive but never "over the top". The food is always great - fresh and locally sourced - and a great value. I love recommending FireLake to friends because they can't thank me enough for introducing them to a great local restaurant.

We went to Firelake for a birthday party with a table of 11. The service was great, down to pre-separated checks for the group, and a free slice of cake for the birthday guest, with Happy Birthday written in chocolate. Everyone was extremely happy with the food - from the artichoke fondue, cheese curds, buffalo ribeye, to the flat iron steak with prawns, and double cut pork chops, everything was really delicious. We all agreed that we would definitely go back to Firelake.

FireLake is not bad. Not bad at all. But that is the best that can be said. If the description doesn't convey "hotel restaurant," then let me dispel any confusion. This is a hotel restaurant. The layout is an L shape, with an extra banquet-like room for spillover. Most of the tables are arranged along the central corridor, meaning people walk past constantly. The service is serviceable, but nothing stands out.

The food is very decent for a hotel restaurant, but there are 20-30 better restaurants in the Twin Cities. Unless you are staying in the Radisson, there are better places to spend your money.

My fiancee and I had just got engaged the morning prior to our lunch there. From our hostess to our server, the people treated us excellent! Our server, Tyrone, did an especially great job of making our big day that much more special. He even had a bunt cake made with "Congrats" written out in chocolate. We will definitely be back!

Its important to also mention that the food was great! We both had the iron seared prawns, and they did not let us down! Further, the layered asparagus appetizer was almost enough to satisfy us!

FireLake is a great place for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I take clients there all the time for meetings and they always are impressed by the great service and the amazing food. Recently, a group, with varying preferences, were there and we each found a great breakfast that suited us. From oatmeal brulee to Flat Iron Steak & eggs, there was something on the menu that satisfied each person. Both the service and the food has been very consistent every time I have been there, either alone or in a party of 40. FireLake is one of the best restaurants in the twin cities.

My wife and I along with another couple tried FireLake Grill House on a Friday evening. We had reservations for 7:00. We were seated in their "Private Dining Room" which is kind of a through back to the old school restaurant dinning rooms of the 60's. Usually old school is a good thing but not in this case. The room and fittings are very plain and the tables right next to each other. So much of going out is atmosphere and this place does not have it.

The guys had the double pork chops, which the waiter recommended. They were OK, nothing special. Hardly deserving of a recommendation. Ladies had the Vegetable Open Ravioli and the Trout. The Open Ravioli was kind of a joke. My wife does not eat a lot but there was not enough there for even her. Very little vegetables. She said the sauce was good. The Trout was good.

The entrees come with no side dishes and are not cheap. Beer was cheap. Wine average. Service was OK, but a little too casual.

No way would I go back. A lot better atmosphere and food can be found elsewhere. I do not recommend the FireLake Grill

Our first visit to Firelake was on Thanksgiving 2007. My wife, 8 year old daughter and I decided to have a non conventional Thanksgiving dinner. We are from the suburbs and we love dining downtown so we looked for a place that was serving dinner on Thanksgiving. After doing our search we came upon FireLake Grill. I've not heard of them but when we reviewed thier menu, we were already craving the meals we viewed thier on line menu. I had the Bison Ribeye which was fantastic. My wife had the vegetarian ravioli and they made a custom dinner for our 8 year old' which was thier take on Mac and Cheese. Needless to say we were all very satisfied with our meals. The dessert was fantastic, we had the Choclate tart, and the bread pudding which was excellent. Our service from the host to the waitress was great. We certainly will be back again!

Last night I had dinner at FireLake with my boyfriend. Belinda was our waitress, she was outstanding! Her choice of words was perfect, she didn't smother us. We ordered the handmade chips and dips - out of this world! The bread was fresh and warm and we ordered beer too which she did a nice presentation with. Our food was the mesquiete filet which melted in my boyfriends mouth, and i ordered the flat iron steak and prawns - SO GOOD!! The open kitchen was cool, the cooks seemed to enjoy their work and were very professional, I felt like I was watching a show. The lighting was great and the chairs were comfortable. You cant beat FireLake restaurant! GO HERE!!

Last night was my first visit to firelake. I was truly impressed. Our server, Thomas, was amazing. He made us feel really welcome and kept my guests (I was having a business dinner) entertained. I ordered the prime rib, which may be the greatest cut in the twin cities -- seasoning was great, and the potatoes were delicious too. Definitely get dessert -- I had the blueberry layer cake. Their bar is well stocked and the staff knowledgeable. If you're in Minneapolis, or heck, anywhere near the twin cities, definitely check this place out. Nice atmosphere and an amazing meal.

Wow this place could be really great.........but 3 times now I've had inconsistent service and poor food. I don't really have much to say about the 4 times before that too. Nothing to complain about, but nothing to rave about. However, the setting is beautiful and it is almost the perfect place for me to go but I've got really mixed emotions now. I can no longer recommend this place. Sorry and hope it changes.

Saturday brunch started with a pitcher of Bloody Marys, awesome! The service was excellent, attentive and knowledgeable. I had the walleye hash, great flavors and the eggs were perfect. My brother had the pork chops and eggs and commented that it was the best pork he's ever had. They smoke it for 3 days..mmm. My partner in crime had the club frittata which had a smokey, delicate flavor that was just right.

We had a incredible experience, we didn't know what to expect but were really impressed with the decor and the service. Definitely check this place out!

I was very surprised to see how easy it was to get a last minute reservation for 10 at this place...until I went there and had the food. It was not bad, but it wasn't good either. For the price, I was expecting melting morsels in my mouth, instead all I got was dry and bland food. I had the clam linguini, which, although it was the best dish at the table, was at best just alright tasting. I also tried my friends' steaks and buffalo meat and all the meat was just horribly dry! Overall, the service was good but not worth the price.

Not only did our server make a bad impression, the food was not impressive. The chicken wings had gross meat on them, the fries were over loaded with salt, the walley smelled fishy and the chicken was flavorless. The only redeming quality was that we didn't have to wait to be seated and the bread was good. We both agreed that we will not be going back!

we were recently at Firelake and my wife had the venison osso bucco. She said it was so tender it was falling of the bone and the red wine sauce was excellent. She gave me a taste of the sauce and I can attest to it. The walleye I had was great as was the brie and spinach salad we shared. Firelake is awesome.

I went there with my boyfriend for a romantic evening and we were in no way let down! I was blown away by the service and the surroundings of the beautiful restaurant. Neither one of us disappointed by our dishes, I had the white fish and he had the salmon. We also had the blueberry and peach cobbler and it was fantastic! The bill was a bit high but it was so worth it and I can't wait to go there again!

Pros: service, food, ambiance

.

I have had the pleasure of dining at Firelake on two occaisions, a business lunch and dinner. For the lunch I had a chicken wrap sandwich and a wild berry cake for dessert, both were good. I must confess I enjoyed the dinner more...I had the prime rib. Very flavorful and cooked just right. A co-worker very much enjoyed the rotisserie chicken. Overall the ambiance and menu are well suited for semi-formal business with guests who appreciate Midwestern dishes. On both occaisions, servers and hosts, were prompt and helpful.
Midwest comfort food with a little flair, may attract some and disappoint others looking for more exotic meals. My only complaint is minor, the bathrooms are (hidden...) located outside the restaurant in the hotel lobby.

I will definately return to Firelake.

We were in town for the Ohio State football game. For a good steak Firelake was recommended as well as Murrays. After being seated in a side room (Im assuming because we werent dressed appropriately in jeans and t-shirts) we were waited on about 4:50 pm. We ordered Prime Rib that wasnt quite done.so we had salad and bread. We were content to wait. Our waiter who had been there for 2 years (according to him) was less then enthusiastic and seemed somewhat at a loss as what to do with us since the meat was done Disappointed that our salad did not come with the meal and it had to be purchased.more disappointed when I went to enjoy a nice cut of prime rib to find out that there was a piece of gristle going through the entire slice.

Spend the extra money and eat at Murrays!

Sorry to have to bash on this restaurant...but the high rating demanded that I say something. I stay in the Radisson often and avoid Firelake as much as possible. Sometimes though the convenience for breakfast makes me eat there. The ham they use is incredibly salty. I ordered the eggs benedict this morning and the hashbrowns were great. The eggs benedict on the other hand was gross! The english muffin was hard like it sat out too long. The eggs were overcooked and the sauce tasted canned. I have had dinner here also and it really does not impress. The only thing this restaurant has going for it is the bar. It's a nice little bar for a nightcap...but that's about it.

We live on the Gulf Coast of Florida surrounded by great places to dine.
When we visited Minnesota, several of our friend recommened Fire Lake.
We came with a group and everyone ordered something different. We also ordered a number of appetizers. In short we gave the menu several chances to please our palate.
We were amazed at the individual flavors and presentations of each item. The service was excellent and the staff pleasant and attentive. We asked the chef to come out to our table and take a bow.

The food is the best I've had anywhere and FireLake's wine list is ample and affordable. Overall an excellent value with great sevice, atmosphere and music.

Our last minute reservations on a Friday night at 7pm were no problem for this Mpls restaurant. Entering through the bar was confusing because the hostess check-in is located via the adjoining hotel - small issue.

The staff was friendly, no pressure and very timely.

The food was yummy - the simple mozz pizza "starter" is simply delish... and enough for a meal in itself. My date had the lamb tenderloin - very good, tender and flavorful, but the accompanying mashed potatoes were kind of salty. I had the walleye and substituted grilled asparagus - no problem - and also very tasty. We had 1 soup, 1 starter, 2 entrees, 3 drinks and 1 dessert - the bill was less than $100.

I describe this menu as Midwestern Specialties tweaked for a modern palate... if that makes sense?

I am a frequent guest of Firelake and am always pleased with the great food. The service is good and they have a prime location in the heart of downtown Minneapolis. You can't leave without trying their panna cotta dessert!

I ate here recently for a business meeting and lunch was fine...but nothing super fabulous. The waiter, however, was terrific....very attentive, was great at recommending items...and made the lunch better in my mind.
I had a salad and it was good. I'm not rushing back there tomorrow, but I wouldn't be against going there again in the future.

Where else can you get a high class breakfast at 2:30 in the morning? They're open until 3:00 but we they had the doors closed at 2:30 however did let us in to be the last seated. Excellent porkchops and walleye w/eggs. Nice decor. The late night diners were seated in one area by the open kitchen but they had several other seating areas. Would like to return for dinner.

Oh, that all hotel restaurants were as inviting, affordable, and produced such good Midwestern fare as this one. With its comfy horseshoe-shaped booths, an action-filled open kitchen, a brick oven (the better to sizzle steaks and chops…
