I love this place.. I've been going here for 3 years now and they are nice and honest and gentle. Although I have a pretty healthy mouth, they are great at understanding insurance and only do what they need to do. I don't have dental yet, so they are careful to check exactly what they need to without making me more broke then I already am... they don't complain about flossing, etc, but tell you what is important.

My family has been going to Birchwood Dental for 5 years and love it there. The drive is worth it for us. We were going to a different dentist and both my husband and myself had troubles with the fillings that was put in and we didn't like the dentist manners. Our neighbors suggested Birchwood, which was their dentist, we tried them and will continue to go there. I have never been charged for anything I wasn't aware of before hand. I always get a treatment summary and prices before I set up the apt to have the work done! I would reccomend this dentist, Dan Carlson to anyone and everyone!!

Pros: always looking out for me

Cons: I hate getting my teeth worked on

SCAM ALERT -- I have been hearing a lot lately how dentists are the new mechanics and used-car salesmen. I thought that was hyperbole. Not so much if you visit Birchwood Dental. I left this place feeling like I needed a shower.
Let me begin by saying that the office is posh, and the equipment top-notch. I figured out how they afford it when I saw the bill. After going in to have a cracked filling replaced, I figured I would be looking at around $200-$300 after insurance. It ended up being around $1000 because Dr. Carlson decided I needed 3 resin-based composites put in (not covered by insurance). I found this out after the fact, as I was completely confused by his vague description of the procedure.
They also wanted to schedule a follow up for me to have 8 more composites put in. I thought this seemed odd, being as though I have had only 3 cavities in my life. So I decided to get a second opinion. What do you know, it turns out the next dentist told me I have one tooth that may need to be monitored for a while. His suggestion: No work needed at this point! WTF?
Long Story Short: Stay Far Away From Birchwood Dental! I wish I had some recourse, but I guess some of life's lessons are expen$ive.
