I was in the bridal party at a wedding and reception here in June 2012 (The Downtown University Club location). How did I not know this place existed? What a beautiful venue to host a wedding! The space was beautifully decorated, the staff was extremely accommodating, and the food was some of the best I have ever had. I could not believe what personalized attention we all received- the staff truly cared about our event. I would recommend this venue to anyone looking for a unique and beautiful setting for their wedding or other special event

I accompanied my date for a wedding reception here. This place is pretty friggin amazing. I always wanted to get married at a vineyard but this seems like a suitable exchange. The music was great, the food was even better. A+!

We looked all over town at wedding venues, and fell in love with the University Club as soon as we walked inside. The place is a true mansion. Many of the other mansions have a tacked-on ballroom because the house isn't that big, but the University Club on Summit Avenue had plenty of space in their regular rooms and held our 150 guest wedding reception very well. All our guests had a great time and loved the view of the St. Paul downtown and valley. The food was terrific and so was the service, and they made our day!

Note that there are two University Club locations...one on Summit Avenue, the other in downtown Saint Paul. The one on Summit is the huge one, and looks like a gorgeous old mansion. That's where we had our wedding!

Julia, the catering manager there, was incredible, so helpful, and had amazing food. It was a fabulous location for an intimate wedding with close friends and family. We not only fell in love with the fireplace, wood paneling and exposed brick but also had an immediate connection with with the staff, who was super-friendly.

The food was incredible, and we had guests calling for a couple of weeks afterwards telling us how wonderful it was. The ambiance was upscale, and yet fun and cozy. The staff was efficient, courteous and all-around great!

All in all, we love the University Club on Summit Avenue, and would highly recommend it for a wedding reception!

My sister recently held her wedding with the University Club of Saint Paul, and it was truly a memorable night for everyone. The wedding was held in the downtown location, which was unbelievably beautiful. The ambiance was so romantic, and the building so incredibly charming.

Aside from the beautiful location (and delicious food!), the waitstaff was very attentive and incredibly nice. We had a last minute change to table seating, which they gladly helped us with, and we also had 2 more guests join us who were not originally counted for meals. The staff happily took the additional guests' orders for their meal, and the kitchen put it out flawlessly. We also had a guest with a nut allergy, and the staff took additional care to meet with her and make sure that everything from her salad dressing to her entree to her dessert were free of nuts. Considering there were over 230 people at this wedding, I was very impressed that they took the time to truly serve this individual. The staff was always there to help, but didn't overstep their boundaries and linger around the tables too much.

Although the entire staff was great, my sister and my's personal favorite was Ray. Ray was assigned to the head table and to the table that sat our parents, and was an absolute riot. He must be 85! But he was cracking jokes, danced with my sister, and took pictures with all of us at the end of the night. He truly made my sister's night extra special, and gave us even more of an unforgettable time!

The guests I have talked to had a ball. Many commented on how great the wait staff was, and how accomodating both the wait staff and the hotel staff were (some of the guests stayed in Hotel 340, which is in the same building - highly recommended!).
Overall, it was an amazing night, not just for the bride and groom, but for everyone who attended the wedding. I'm hoping that some of the couples that attended the night hold their wedding at this location, too - I can't wait to come back!!

Beautiful club, but I'm not happy with their service. My husband and I heard good things about this club, so we met with their staff to discuss having our wedding there. We were having a small wedding (125 people) and we told them the number of guests right away. We planned on using the Summit and Terrace rooms for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. Beautiful rooms and we were very excited. We visited twice with the staff to discuss the date and the basics of the event. At the very end of the second meeting, while signing the contract, they told us that there was a misunderstanding and they cannot seat 125 people. This was late January and our wedding was in June. They told us we could have it at the downtown location. We set up another meeting to look at that location and agreed we could make it work. They called us the next day to tell us there was again an issue and they had already booked that date for another wedding. Beautiful club, but they need to get it together over there.
