I like sushi, and this place had a great atmosphere and was overall just a 'fun' place to be. The food was good and it was a fun place to bring friends.

Sushi Tango is in a nice location and has decent food, but its a little over priced. Even the Happy Hour specials are still a little expensive. They still have pretty good food if you don't mind spending a little.

While living in Woodbury it was great to have a Sushi Tango so close. The happy hour here is very good and the sushi always tastes great. Great service, great atmosphere.

Pros: Fresh sushi and good prices, good happy hour

Cons: It's not the uptown Tango

We've been going to this sushi restaurant for the last year to meet friends on Friday nights. I'm perplexed by the poor reviews from 07 and early 08 but can only guess they were issues surrounding opening a new business. We have always had good and prompt service, the sushi is always fresh and not fishy/dry, and the sushi chef(s) are helpful and will help you select new things to try. The regular menu selection is extensive and would probably take a couple years worth of visits to work through. They have happy hour (I believe after 9pm every day) sushi and drink specials.

On the flip side their decor is not the best I've ever seen but as previous reviewers have stated, there is only so much you can do with a strip mall retail space. My only other complaint is they seem either unwilling or unable to split a bill up so you are left spending 10 minutes working out the bill and splitting it up yourself at the table which is annoying.

Overall after visiting this restaurant no less than 25 times in the past year I'd say that they are consistently good.

Cons: Decor could be better

Im new to sushi, I was introduced about a month ago. I first tried sushi at Akita, it was amazing!! I was in a hurry one day and decided to swing into Sushi Tango. It wasnt good! :( It was really fishy tasting. Definatly will be going to Akita from now on until I find something better!!!

Sushi Tango has a nice happy hour menu and even if it doesn't sound all that great you should try the salmon skin roll. It's reasonably priced and tasty! Some of the items are a little pricey, but overall its a nice place to eat. At least try it once if you like sushi.

I like Sushi Tango's sushi, but I recently witnessed something that will cause me not go back. I stopped in for some sushi during happy hour (shortly after 9 PM) and my seat was facing the bathroom hallway. Three, count them THREE male employees used the restroom in a period of about 20 minutes and DID NOT wash their hands. Now, I cannot prove this, of course, because I am a woman and was not in the restroom. But, hearing the urinal/toilet flushing and then seeing the door of a single-person restroom immediately open is usually a good indication that someone has not washed their hands.
Icky, gross and beware.

Pros: Good sushi, non-stuffy location in the suburbs

Cons: Employees don't appear to wash hands

This place is worth trying! The establishment is nestled between several fast food places - so face it, it's hard to offer upscale decore in a strip mall. However, I really enjoy the sushi! The servers have always been polite to me and the food is well prepared. I've had the sushi at Kowalski's and Byerly's and this is better. Perhaps the restaurant had a slow start (Jan. reviews) but they are always concerned about whether or not I am pleased with an entree and will offer to adjust menu items to satisfy a customer's preferences. I like Sushi Tango - it offers a great and healthy alternative to so many of the other food choices in the area. They also make anything on their menu to go, which is a nice feature.

We arrived at the restaurant and were greeted by a hurried waitress. We asked for seats at the sushi bar. We were given water and waited a short time to speak to the sushi chef. the fishmongers were engaging and funny. Good spirited and made us feel welcome. there were some people next to us who were sheepish about the food and the chefs coaxed them into trying some new things, all in all the sushi bar was a fun and relaxed place to be and have dinner. I have eaten sushi for some 25years all over the country and found their to be as good as it gets. I realy liked their rolls!!!!.

The only downfall about this place is that it's too small! I read 3 other comments about this place and none of them had anything nice about the restuarant. The food is great, service is great too! You have to be respectful as well to recieve good service. All I have to say is that the OYSTERS are the best ever, I love the sauce...trust me you won't go wrong with this! It's worth the money and wait...I have always done it and will continue to do so.

Given all the choices for dining out in the Twin Cities, this place doesn't even deserve the freebie 1 star it gets. First of all, the place is painted a dark color inside, but it's full of wall dents and scratches and the white drywall shows through. Not a good first impression. I was there on a Friday night before 6:30PM, and they were out of the first 3 items I wanted to order. Looking around the restaurant and bar, it appeared that nearly everyone there was a friend of a cook, bartender or waiter. The service was OK, but the waitress didn't realize they were out of two kinds of wine and didn't know what kind of vodka they had on hand. Believe it or not, I've never had bad sushi...until I ate here. It was small, it looked old, and tasted average to awful. They have smoked salmon which tastes like salmon soaked in liquid smoke. We left after one round of sushi and went and got chips and salsa at a nearby Mexican restaurant. Avoid this place! You are far better off getting sushi at the deli inside Kowalski's.

Dry and small sushi, so not worth the money. They placed two orders of sushi on a tray that usually holds one order at places like Sakura. I am terribly sad to say that I prefer the sushi you can purchase from Byerly's over Sushi Tango. I say terribly because I went to Sushi Tango in hopes of supporting my fellow Hmong in their entrepreneurship endeavors and felt discriminated against in terms of timely service. There was another group there that seemed to know our waitress and she totally ignored us while she laughed and giggled with them--despite that we were there at least 20 minutes prior and had not ordered yet. Sushi with punk??? What is this punk--watching waitresses talk it up with the bartender while you sit their waiting on a refill of your drink for 15 minutes? I also tried their teriyaki chicken, which I swear was cooked-frozen-then-microwaved. It was also dry and simply drizzled with sauce that tasted like it came from a bottle from the grocery store. The place was awfully dark (bad lighting) and service was bad as even after placing our menus together at the end of our table to indicate we were ready to order, we still had to flag down a waitress. Sushi Tango costs as much as other sushi places but with less than half the service and flavour. I have not tried thier other locations, but I wonder how they got enough fundings to expand locations. Their waitstaff is immature, inexperienced, and although I was there for almost 2 hours, I only wanted to be there for 45 minutes at the most--and only because I was catching up with friends and wanted a place I could sit and talk, not watch my life fly by for bad food.

It doesn't seem unreasonable to simply expect good food and good service. I took my friend from out of town to Sushi Tango in Woodbury expecting a nice dinner. Our waitress was incredibly rude and took forever to take our order. She also seemed annoyed by me asking for some hot towls. Right off the bat I knew not to expect much from her. Food was good but we waiting way too long for being one of 3 tables in the entire restaurant. On top of this all, our table of 4 was service charged 18%! I've visited many times with my parents and have never been charged. Maybe because we all happened to be younger looking? I understand it is stated on the menu, but i've waited tables for over 6 years and know that if you're going to add gratuity, you better earn it! Don't assume all young people are bad tippers! I will not ever return, nor do I recommend this place to anyone. One last thing, It is quite DISGUSTING to see the sushi chefs and other employes out in the front smoking and drinking, and then returning to make your sushi. My advice, pay the extra money and go some place elso.
