Ratings_icons Everything You'll Need for your Tank

If you're a beginner when it comes to owning fish and having a fish tank, then this place might be too overwhelming. However, if you're a pro, then this is the right place for you.

Pros: The staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.
Cons: The prices can be a bit steep and the location a bit difficult to find.

I have found the staff to be very helpful and always do free water testing. They have taken the time to explain everything to me, and always answer all my questions. The fish are amazing, and the tanks are very clean. Whether you are a beginner or a fish fanatic, this place is for everyone! Finally a store that is interested in customer satisfaction and the overall health and happiness of their aquatic life and animals!

I shopped at this location recently for a Christmas present. I have to say I was very impressed with the layout of this store, the cleanliness of the tanks, and the knowledge of their staff. This is definitely a very well run company that prides itself in quality. My only problem was the price of their supplies, they seem to be a touch higher than some other shops in the area. If price is an issue for you this could be a concern.

Ratings_icons Larger place, not for the price conscious though

I have 5 aquariums myself, so I frequent a lot of these LFS's in the DC area. Congressional is what I'd call above average in terms of selectrion, but the pricing definitely leaves something to be desired... so I usually don't choose to make the trek down there. However, they are worth a look, especially if you are seeking rarer saltwater items--this was where I purchased a good sized peacock mantis shrimp several years ago. In general however, for the reefers, I'd recommend joining WAMAS (www.wamas.org) and get your corals that way... much cheaper to trade for frags than buy these overpriced but large/lovely pieces from Congressional.

Ratings_icons Nice displays, good staff and a little pricey

This is one of the best aquarium store in the area. They carry good variation of fish and the staff is very accomodating. They answer most questions for beginners... but for an advanced fish hobbyist, only a few staff can answer the questions.

Beside the fish, they also carry all kind of equipment, fish food and medication, including pond related stuff. I like the cleanliness of the tank, as well as the variety they have.

One things they need to consider is about the pricing, compare with their bigger brother in Randallstown and Baltimore, they should consider in lowering their price, especially if we compare with online pet store... non-livestock will be better off buying it online.

PROS: Good staff, clean, a lot of variation of fishes
CONS: A little pricier
