Clyde's of Columbia

★★★☆☆
Big-time saloon chain can still boast about its burgers; for the health conscious, the lighter entrees are a hit, too.

Clyde's is a Columbia institution. I went there 25 years ago and it has upheld it's quality and ambiance through to present. It is located on the lake and is popular for lunch, happy hour, and dinner. The menu is varied but at lunch I can never pass up the Bleu Cheeseburger - possibly the best I have ever had.

For those out looking for a romantic night with good food and friendly customer service you might want to skip Clydes of Columbia. My boyfriend took me there for my birthday, and I had never been more displeased. First of all i ordered the Bruchetta, it was first of all cold, second of all it was soggy and disgusting... i sent it back. For my entree i ordered the Halibut.... I asked my server about it before and he described it as a, "white fish". Thanks. When I got it it was smothered in this light brown "gravy" looking sauce. I sent it back and ordered the fried green tomatoes. Those were OKAY at best... they were greasy and not worth how much they cost. We descided to skip dessert due to the lousy customer service and how disgusted we were at that point. If you like good food avoid Clydes, and go to the sushi place across from it.

If you can only go to one place in Columbia, you should go to Clyde's. This place is Columbia. It is literally and figuratively the town's watering hole. Situated on the banks of Columbia's downtown lake, Lake Kittamaqundi, Clyde's offer a well rounded menu of classic American cusine and an outstanding selection of draft beers.

Clyde's has long been the favored spot among Columbia professionals for after-work partying. When the bar scene overheats, the action moves to tables in view of the community's man-made Lake Kittamaqundi for all-American fare---Chesapeake…
