I sent my wife to this Precision Tune location for a simple oil change and this is what happened to us.
She was told that our transmission fluid was black and needed to be changed which is quite possible considering i bought my 03 Hyundai used and don't know if it was ever changed or not. My car had appox 55k miles when she went to get the oil changed.

They then told her the A/C belt was bad and needed to be changed and since it was behind the other 2 belts in my car they told her they should go ahead and change all 3 belts since they had to take off the other two to get to the one in the back. She went ahead and had this done and then there was intense squeeling afterward. She took the car back at my request for the squeal and to see if belt dressing would solve the problem. They then told her the power steering pump and pulley were bad and needed to be replaced. They claimed the pump was "locking up" and the pulley was not spinning. The estimate to replace was over 400 dollars.

I called Carmax which is where i bought the car and still have an extended warranty and made an appointment to have the pump looked at since it was still covered. The first report from the Carmax tech was that there was nothing wrong with the power steering pump, the pulley or the water pump that precision tune also listed as "recommended services". They told me the belts were loose and had never been tightened after installation. I asked them to double check there was nothing wrong before i went back to precision tune and blew a gasket with them. They came back and said the same tech had checked again and asked another tech to investigate and they both agreed there was nothing wrong with the pump aside from loose belts.

I called the precision tune and spoke to the manager and explained i thought he was trying to screw me and was told that Carmax was lying to me and he had witnessed the pump malfunction. He also said Carmax was lying to me to avoid paying for the pump that was still covered under warranty.
Now you tell me who has the most to gain, precision tune charging me almost 500 dollars to replace the pump or Carmax replacing the part under a warranty i have already paid for?
