Regarding the Santa Ana Cemetery located at 1919 E. Santa Clara Avenue, Santa Ana, CA 92705:

My mother was buried there on September 24, 1992. I bought a cemetery marker for her gravesite at the time of her death. I visit the cemetery maybe once or twice a year. The last time I visited was on September 21, 2007. To my dismay, the grave marker was uplifted from the ground, moved about three-inches, and chipped around the entire marker. The County of Orange owns this cemetery. I am now trying to negotiate replacing the marker by the County as the damage to the marker was done out of negligence by the grounds keepers. The grounds keepers run over the markers with a lawn mower and the blades chip the granite. Many of the markers in that cemetery are chipped on the edges. I think it is a disgrace. A representative from the County stated the cemetery workers did not have time to be carefull when mowing the lawn, and if the markers are chipped - oh well! Another representative offered to put a cement frame around the damaged marker; however, that is unacceptable. It needs to be replaced. If anyone has loved ones buried there, I advise you to take a look at the grave marker to see how much damage has been done to it by the carelessness of the grounds keepers. If you can afford to have a loved one buried elsewhere, please do it.
