This is a great cave. They have a nice walking tour, plus more adventurous tours. I love the formations and the history is interesting. It's a great place to go with the family.

Who says you have to go to Carlsbad to see underground caves? Just a few minutes drive outside of Murphys, CA, are the Mercer Caverns discovered in 1885. They were originally used by a prehistoric indian tribe called the Yokuts as an undergound burial chamber. The tours last about 45 minutes and are always guided. The cost for adults is $12.00, $5.00 for children between 5 and 12. You actually walk down a total of 16 stories using stairs, paths, and walkways . . . all very safe. The formations are amazing to see! Going in the summer is especially fun because while it might be 110 degrees outside, the caverns are cool.
