Hidden Treasure

by 24oaks

My husband and I were referred to the restaurant at arden hills (Mangos is what it's called) by some friends that are members. I heard it was really bad in the past, but we had a great meal!!! I didn't know you could even go there if you weren't a member, but you can. I'm tryin' to loose my baby weight so we trying to eat healthy. Mangos has a ton of stuff on the menu that is not only yummy buy healthy! I tried this stuff call quinoa (not even sure how you say that), but it was really good. My husband had the bison burger, which is a healthier version of a cheeseburger. Also quite yummy.

Pros: DELICIOUS, but healthy too

Cons: dark restaurant

Why pay for membership Just pay to use it!

by TheGuy007

I was member and all of the reviews about "Classy" and "High Class" just about say it all. Why pay dues to be a member when for 50 bucks you can just come right on in and get treated with class! After all, it's a resort not a club and everyone is able to come to a resort. The reviews tell you all about how great it is to get married or have a Spa treatment in this Classy, High Class place that costs a grip. I too hope to live in a classy place that has a room full of mirrors someday. I was also thrilled to see that the restaurant is for non-members too. The "members only" lounge is available for all wedding parties and not just members no matter what you are told. I am also very pleased to learn that The Resort isn't so "snobby" and that they don't make the bride walk through the Buffet line in her dress! All of this just makes the place so High Class and Classy. Sadly, I was just not High Class enough.

Pros: It's Classy and High Class

Cons: No reason to pay dues

Boom

by twitchyfoot

I just attended a wedding here! My bestie just got married, and it was such a beautiful day. Can I just say.. wow the setting was awesome. Looks like it costed a grip of money,... but I'm pretty sure she isn't all that rich.`She got married in a garden behind this mansion. The place had soo many waterfalls it was ridiculous! Being in the wedding party we got to go in the mansion and take a bunch of pictures. It was soo much fun... and someday I hope to live in a place like that. The stair case alone took my breathe away. Her reception was in a pretty room with tons of mirrors... LOVE IT!!

Pros: The water fountains def set the mood

Cons: the heat

A wonderful world of wellness

by abigail13

Arden Hills has emerged as one of Sacramento's most beautiful resorts. I am so happy to have a place near home that focuses on the necessities of living a healthy and fulfilling life. Not to mention the staff provides for great customer service. The resort as a whole offers so much to it's members and goes above and beyond to provide the best home away from home feel. Whether I am having an event, want to be pampered at the villa and spa, or simply just want to lay by the pool after an intense tennis match, Arden Hills offers it all.

Pros: great customer service and overall experience

My Salon Experience

by MollySchu8

I went in for a hair cut on Friday to Salon Cabochon and had Becca give me a complementary consultation on what she suggested I should do. She suggested that I add some layering and take about an inch of length off to make sure my hair was healthy. I was a little worried about that but i gave a shakey thumbs up to her and told her to "go for it." I am SOOOOOOOOOOO glad I did. Not only wast he service she provided me top notch, but my hair since then has been so manageable and easy to work with. I have recieved so many compliments from people about the styling and layers that she did that i wanted to make sure i posted something giving the much deserved kudos to Becca. Overall, the environment was BEAUTIFUL, staff was very friendly, and the scalp massage that she gave me was enough to destress me at least until my next hair cut. Thanks BECCA!

Pros: Customer service and atmosphere.

Cons: None that i could see!

WONDERFUL 5 STAR EXPERIENCE

by bjbpoker

I've been a member for 5 years at AHCC and I'm honestly shocked by some of these reviews. Over the last 2-3 years the member events have gotten exponentially better, including the "Breakfast with Santa" event and most recently "Daddy and Me at the Campground". It is so nice to see that they are actually adding events for children and the younger demographic at Arden Hills.

The concierge manager has been fabulous every time I have spoken with her regarding my reservations and reward points. I think everyone on this site needs to relax and take the time to enjoy the improvements the club has made over the last few years. The current concierge manager is the definition of "5-stars", and anyone who says otherwise is clearly either delusional or completely unreasonable. We would not trade our membership at Arden Hills for anything!

Pros: Excellent staff, most notably the wonderful concierge manager

Cons: absolutely none, except for the fact that apparently some very negative people visit the club from time to time

I love this place. Me and my life partner enjoy our weekends here and love the compassionate staff. This has got to be the best gay friendly health resort in town. It's nice to have an upper class place just for people like us! It's about time!

The Real Story...

by 73rdHomeRun

Arden Hills has the potential to be a great establishment if they would only concider what would be interesting and fun for members. Concierege is extremely out of touch with the business! The bands are dated, events are rarely attended and the concierege manager is just down right rude! It's as if she scatters to find any activity to fill the calender in fear of her job. Not just her, from the GM down , this incompetent group of people need a reality check on how to engage members to keep us around! From a service stand point most of the staff are friendly and attentive, Mangos and the bar especially. If you want a decent meal, the restaurant is good but if you're looking to join a club in search of like minded people and a little fun, save your money. Arden Hills is a ghost town. Grab a friend and go down to the Luna instead...that's where most of us go anways.

Pros: Friendly staff (Kevin & Angela especially)

Cons: Terrible management,boring events.

Mangos at Arden Hills has great service!!!

by hiker27

Ok well first of all, I didnt even know that the resteraunt was open to the public! (i thought it was members only?!) Its absolutley beautiful, and would be even better in the summer time out on the gorgeous patio area! My friend used to be a member at arden hills and told us about the "tropical cuisine", so my husband and I decided to give it a try. The food was great! I must say it was a little expensive, but definitley worth it. There was even a live jazz band playing in the lounge area, which I guess happens every Thursday night!? Our dinner was delicious and the ambiance of this place was just as impressive, but I think the one thing that I will come back for was the service. Our server (I think his name was Kevin?) was GREAT. He was so helpful and friendly. Since it was our first time to the resteraunt we had a bunch of questions about arden hills and Kevin was happy to stop and answer them all even thought I knew he was pretty busy with other guests. After dinner we hung out in the lounge area for a little bit to listen to the jazz band and the bartender was just as friendly as our server. I had to write about this, because it seems these days good service is getting harder and harder to find. We will definitley go back to arden hills!

Pros: the friendly employees

Cons: a little expensive, but worth it

Amazing Place!!!!

by jwilkinson209

This is the best place I have ever been to when it comes to a country club. I went to look at the location for my wedding this summer and i was just amazed at how beautiful the location was. The courtyard and villa garden are absolutely beautiful the rooms are diffrent sizes depending on the size of your party and can accomodate pretty big size wedding. The customer service there was terrrific. Not to mention there is a bed and breakfast villa where you can stay the day or night of your wedding day. A beautiful salon with an amazing shampoo room, oh did i mention the customer service the receptionist there was very friendly, sweet and very helpful when it came to answering my questions. And right across the salon there is a little boutique (needs a little help when it comes to there merchandise) there wasnt that many things that catch your eye like boutique's usually do. The receptionist there were also very helpful and even took me on a tour of the spa. Also breath taking like the rest of the facility. They even have showers and steam rooms that patrons can acess when recieving services. Oh and you dont have to be a member to use the salon or the spa. I left pretty blown away with everything the facility had to offer. The people there are the nicest most professional people I have ever dealt with when it comes to a country club. They are not snotty at all. It was the perfect place especially for an out of town bride like me there was everything i needed for my wedding no hassle of driving around to diffrent places.

Pros: Customer service/ Offers various services

Cons: boutique (needs a little more)

2nd time as good as the first

by Annabelle27

My friend had invited me to spend the day at the club and we had a blast. This past sunday, there was a DJ taking requests and we layed out all day, ordered drinks and enjoy the pools and really hot weather. I din't realize there was such a place, kinda like vegas (minus the sluttiness) in sacramento. I highly recommend going there for the day, but maybe bring your own beach towel as the one i got was alittle small. It was 20.00 for me as a guest of a member, but the girl at the desk said it was 50.00 for non members.

Pros: Beautiful place

Cons: need bigger towels

Flawless wedding & Reception

by Melimoo

My husband and i were recently married at Arden Hills. The place is beautiful but what really made our day was the staff. We checked into the Villa and there was fruit, cheese and champagne waiting in our room for the bridesmaids and me. The Villa attendant was extremely friendly and accommodating and even assisted us with our ceremony. Our coordinator was awesome and took care of all of our last minute changes. She even put out our favors and place cards and put the leftover flowers on our cake. The ceremony was flawless and the reception room was set exactly how we wanted it. The service staff and our banquet captain were great too. They were on top of everything all night and were great at anticipating our needs. They even served the headtable from the buffet so we didn't have to go through the line in our dresses. The food was delicious and everyone commented how great it was. I can't say enough about how amazing this place is.

Pros: Great Customer Service, Beautiful Place

Cons: None

Personal Training Experience=AMAZING

by MarilynnSacramento

So, i am fighting the battle of the buldge like many americans out there and i have finally found my success at arden hills with my personal trainer Rob. He is soooo knowledagle and motivating! he not only gives me an amazing work out but he also motivates me to continue on the habits when i am not meeting with him. eating healthy is also really easy... after my work outs i go downstairs and eat at the cafe. it has almost all organic low fat food that really helps me stay on trak. they even have this lady that makes healthy deserts! i know, that sounds like an oxymoran, but they are actually really good and they satisfy my sweet tooth. anyway, back to my PT experience, i find that all trainers int he PT departemnt are amazing. if Rob is not there and i have a question about safe lifting or maybe asking for a good idea for the work out of the day, each trainer will help me out with great advice. THanks to all the PT's at Arden Hills for the amazing transformation they helped me go through.

Great Customer Service!

by WeezaMontez

I went to Arden Hills for a massage a few days before my wedding for some much needed stress relief. I was treated with the best customer service from the front desk staff. This was my first time at Arden Hills, so I was not familiar with the spa. A member of the staff took me on a tour of the facility. It was clean and comfortable. I would recomend Arden Hills spa to anyone who wants to have a 1st class experience.

Organized and Beautiful

by EvonErika

I had my wedding at Arden Hills and it turned out wonderful. There is always a couple of hiccups but mainly on my timing. Since it was a spring wedding every flower was in bloom and all the guest commented on how beautiful the place was. We got married outside at the Villa and our reception was in the East Hampton room perfect size for 85-100 people. Fearon our coordinator was so helpful and did a great job with everything including the set up of the reception; I couldn't have done it better if I did it myself. The main compliments on the wedding & reception was the wonderful food and the beauty of the location. We heard from many people that it was the nicest wedding they have attended. I think the only complaint was the bathroom location was a ways away from the East Hampton room so it made it difficult for the elderly at the reception. So all in all I would give it a 9 out of 10, there is always a little room for improvement..

A welcoming place for everyone

by amigofun4u

I can't believe some of the comments that are made about this beautiful Wellness Resort and the people that work there. From the first time that I heard about Arden Hills my experience has been nothing by outstanding. The employees that work at Arden Hills exemplify what it means to provide fantastic customer service and have been nothing by gracious to my family and I. In fact, Shelley made it quite clear that everyone is welcome at Arden Hills...they even invite non-members to visit the resort for various services, seminars, events, etc!!! So clearly there is no "interview" and no one has to "qualify"- come on-that's absurd.
Since we became members we have taken advantage of many of the services offered at Arden Hills - The Spa (one of the best that I've ever been to, definitely the best/most relaxing in Sacramento), Kids Korner (the staff at the childcare center are AWESOME...they keep my children happy and entertained every time I come), social events (we've made some great friends at these events), Mangos (the restaurant offers a ton of healthy choices and everything we've tried has been delicious)...I could go on and on.
Arden Hills and the people that work there are great...see for yourselves!

Pros: everything you need is in one place, customer service, employees, ambience

apply only if you"qualify"

by lucyiloveyou

Those are he words of a lady named "shelly"
"wow" that was unexpected!
Okay, so I'm looking for a place to work out, also to relax, somewhere here, in sacramento, for some serenity.
She never answered my questions..... except for telling me, the price to join is $2.000.00 a year and $190.00 a month for 1 person. and that's only if I "qualify" she would interview me first.
that's enough to tell me that this place is for none other, but "SNOBS",
No, "thank you"

Pros: none

Cons: your comfort of feeling "good enough"

Hidden Treasure

by roarinrow

I really didn't know what to expect. I did a search through 'Best of Sacramento Spas' and found there name. It was a pleasant surprise because the service was excellent and the deep tissue was one of the best I've had in a long while.

The price is the going rate, at least competitive and for all the amenities of the spa, it's worth it. Beautiful surroundings make for a relaxing experience.

Pros: Excellent message

Cons: None that I could think of yet

A true retreat that allows me to relax at a moments notice.

by billenos

I can't say enough about Arden Hills Resort Club. I joined the club mainly for the pool and workout facility but I am finding the social events to be a valuable business networking tool. The staff is friendly and very professional! As I read some of the negative reviews here, I must guess that there were some bad employees in place recently. But Colleen the concierge gal and Shelly the membership director have been great to me and my family.
I go there when I need to just unplug from a crazy day of work and I find myself able to really take it down a few notches in a short period of time. I consider the membership to be a very worthwhile investment.

Pros: Social Events, Members Luau, Men's Basketball Games

Cons: Member bar hours of operation

What the....

by oscar16

I wanted to make an appointment to tour the club because I was ready to join. I had had a tour almost a year ago and had been shown the entire club and got my price quote. I told the guy who toured usI would be back to join eventually and I decided to do it in the late winter so we could enjoy the pool during the spring and summer.
First off, the club is beautiful. Like nothing in Sacramento. Myself and my family were excited to be members. The problem is I couldn't join! I tried calling a hundred times but could not get a return phone call. The guy who I had spoken to before no longer worked there so I tried for a week to track down somebody to help me. I talked to the front desk several times and even talked to the spa. Everytime they took down the number but I never got a call back. I was told I would need to talk to a girl named Shelly but She would never call me back. I left messages on her voice mail and talked to the front desk. I guess the club is sooooo exclusive they don't even want new members. Well, if you don't want members QUIT SENDING STUFF TO ME IN THE MAIL! I guess I'm just frustrated. Everyone there has been nice but service is not just being nice, it's following through with guests. Everytime I was told I would get a return call and I never did. I give up. It's a nice place. If you are able to join good for you, we are going to Rio Del Oro. They returned my call the same day :)

Pros: Beautiful Facility

Cons: Bad Staff/Service

Bad Club, Bad Management, Bad everything

by stevens311

For all the talk about being a "first class resort" my experience was anything but first class. I was a member of the club until late last year. At the time I signed up I was very excited because the gentleman who enrolled me had promised me that members were treated with "class" and "respect". I will always regret paying thousands of dollars to join a club that is basically a slightly nicer Cal Fit with a overpriced cafe nad a bunch of boring social events that bobody goes to. There was an time when the General Manager greeted us at the front desk while I was bringing in a guest as I was excited to show off my new club. He gave ME THE MEMBER the third degree and made my guest (who was wanting to join but didn't because of him) feel completely uncomfortable. I pay thousands of dollars to join and he makes me feel like he was doing me a favor by letting me bring in a friend? I couldn't believe a company that large would let a person so stupid run their business. By the time he finally let me in with my guest I was so embarassed that I was too scared to ever bring in a guest again. I would say if you want to work out in a average gym while being harassed by a GM who probably didn't graduate high school then Arden Hills is the place for you! If you want to be treated with respect then save the thousands of dollars it takes to join that crappy club.

Pros: Chicken sandwich from the cafe

Cons: GM was rude and boderline retarded

October Wedding

by lisadawn3

I booked Arden Hills for my October 07 wedding over a year in advance. As it got closer and I saw the reviews listed here I started to get more and more worried. At first I was concerned because they kept changing my coordinator on me. They even made a change about a month before the wedding. The result of which was that I had to go over all the wedding details twice since I had already met with the old coordinator previously. So, I was getting more anxious about the event and there were a couple of details (such as where the wedding party was going to wait before entering for the reception) that got lost in the switchover.
However, on the actual wedding day, everything was great. They had a banquet room manager throughout the event that we could talk to if we needed anything, all the guests commented on how nice it was and how classy and elegant, everything that I had brought for them to layout for decor was set up nicely. I also was upset that we had to pay $1/person for parking but I didn't realize we were paying for valet which ended up being a very nice service to have.

The only thing that went wrong was the confusion where the wedding party should wait as I mentioned previously. We ended up sitting in the limo for 15 minutes before finding the coordinator and she took us to the member lounge--even brought us all wine from the bar while we waited...

I also would like it if they had more "cost effective" hotel rooms closer by for the guests but, everyone managed...

So, I would say that this is pretty nice place to have your reception after all (we had the ceremony at a church) if you are looking for a place that does it all for you--which takes away a lot of stress...

A great massage with even better surrondings!

by nonee1291

I see that the only reviews that have been written for this spa is regarding to booking weddings. I honestly have no idea how Arden Hills is in regards to weddings, but I feel that people need to be made aware of the wonderful spa services they provide.

My friend and I booked two massages at the Arden Hills Day Spa. I wanted deep tissue and she got aromatherapy. Not being from Sacramento, we didn't know where to go. We were finally given this place to check out. From the moment we walked up to the counter we were treated like royalty. I had an amazing massage. My friend liked hers, but not as much as I liked mine. The ambiance was perfect, the staff was courteous, and the complimentary fruit and muffins after was a wonderful touch. I've been to a few "high end" spas in San Francisco and Arden Hills was pretty close. In fact, my friend and I have made another appointment to get massages at Arden HIlls on Sunday and I can't wait!

Pros: Ambiance, staff, prices.

Cons: Get there before your appointment otherwise they take time off of your massage!

Arden Hills Country Club was simply a nightmare that turned into a reality

by erl050

I am not surprised at all the negative reviews I've seen for Arden Hills. My own personal experience involved my own wedding. I had proposed to my fiance in November and in December we spoke with a sales manager for Arden Hills to check availability. The sales manager informed us that that everything but the main hall was booked and the only ceremony site available was one that was currently being constructed. The main hall was beautiful and we were expecting over 250 guests for our wedding so we booked the main hall and the ceremony site (sight unseen) based on the promise that the new ceremony location would be able to accommodate our guests. We gave our deposit and waited for the open house for the ceremony site. During that time period we booked and placed deposits with all of our other vendors.

When we went to the open house to view the ceremony site we were horrified to find that the site could only fit 150 comfortably and at most 200. When we spoke with the sales manager she kept insisting that we did not book the site for 250 guests, I sent her off to get the contract and the contract did say we booked the site at 250. Instead of apologizing she kept insisting this was our mistake and she even suggested we cut down our guest list! She refused to do anything to resolve this situation. I was repeatedly declined requests to speak with her boss. I even stopped by Arden Hills on my lunch break to speak with her boss but she refused to have him come out to speak with me. I was just stupefied to say the least at how my issue was being treated. I was fortunate enough to find an alternate wedding venue but the struggle to get my deposit left me pretty dazed. The lying did not end with the ceremony site. The delays in returning the deposit were almost criminal.

I know that Arden Hills is a beautiful location; I know that they seem to be a great choice for a wedding but avoid the heart ache and head ache, look somewhere else for your wedding.

Pros: Beautiful Location

Cons: Terrible service and rude staff

Worst experience I have ever had with a business!!!

by plmondor

My Dad is in ICU and last night my fiance had an accident that caused her front tooth to get knocked loose. We called the our dentist and he is performing emergency surgery at 6:00pm that night. Last week I proposed to my fiance on our 3 year anniversary. Part of the proposal involved giving her a spa day at Arden Hills. She was very excited and was looking forward to her spa treatment. We called the emergency number for our dentist and they are performing emergency surgery tonight at 6:00pm.. I called Arden Hills Spa 3 minutes before they opened told them that she was unable to make the appointment due to a medical emergency. The lady on the phone told me that they needed a doctor?s note stating why she couldn?t make it. I told them that her appointment wasn?t until 6:00pm and that I wouldn?t have a note until then. The lady on the phone told me that they would need a doctor?s note or they were going to charge the full $200. I asked to speak to the manager on duty and asked the manager if I could cancel the appointment and she said NO. I told her that it was a medical emergency that her tooth was falling out and that she was on a lot pain. She told me that her surgery has nothing to do with her availability and we would be charged regardless. I asked if I could give her a note tomorrow and she told me flat out ?NO?, that her appointment was today, not tomorrow. I asked if I brought her prescription down if this would suffice. She said no and that we would be been charged the $200 and that the timeslot will be filled with someone else.

As angry as I am, I do feel myself extremely fortunate that we had this horrible experience with a $200 spa treatment and not with a $15,000 wedding. Arden Hills Country Club was on our short list of places to have our wedding and I thank god that I have experienced first hand the service that can be expected at this establishment prior to us settling on a venue.

Pros: I have nothing good to say whatsoever

Cons: This was a degrading and demeaning experience!!!!

Great for photos...but that's about it!

by brookelyn1979

I was just recently at Arden Hills Country Club for a meeting/tour to plan a wedding ceremony and reception. I am extremely thankful that they showed their true colors at this appointment, instead of after the check was already made out. The facility is gorgeous, but the customer service is laughable, at best...frustrating and shocking would be more accurate. The lady we met with was great, a bit long winded, but polite and informative. We toured the grounds, and were anxious to see the date book to find out the availability, which, 2 hours later, was literally and in no exaggeration snatched from us from another planner on staff. We had waited about a half an hour or so to find our planner (after being handed off to another "tour guide") to see the date book, she finally dropped the book off to us, had it for all of a few minutes, then we heard a voice over our shoulders saying, "I need that blue book." I turned and saw a name tag and a mess of bad make-up and hair with her hand extended grabbing the book from my father, who hadn't heard her and was just turning the page to the month we wanted to see. No "Excuse me, I am so-and-so...would you please let me know when you are finished viewing the date book..." or something to that effect. To top it off? She brought it back a few minutes later to tease us with the notion we could actually look at it, to have her come back and do the EXACT SAME THING! I just about flung it over my head at her...I couldn't believe this woman! Needless to say, we got up at that moment and walked right out of the door...and only after losing 2 whole hours, missing other appointments (they should only take about a half of an hour), and wasting tons of energy to restrain ourselves from making a scene at that obnoxious planner. Based on the above, I sudder to think of the nightmare our future wedding would have become.

I have had better service Chuck E Cheeses

by mc211982

This is supposed to be one of the higher class places to host a wedding in Sacramento, but as it turns out it truly is low class. The first clue should have been when the groomsmen and groom had to get dressed in the mens public restroom. I felt like I needed a shower after getting dressed. Especially since the floor was wet with god knows what and we were all walking around barefoot trying to get dressed. The staff that came in while we were getting dressed kept making rude comments to us. Arden Hills does not have a private room for the groom and his guys to get dressed, or leave any belonings. The bridal room is cramped with no place to hang dresses and other clothes, and it is located in a back hallway that all the service workers use to access the banquet rooms. The bride and girls are provided drinks and snacks before the service, but the guys get to SHARE a members only area with any other wedding party that is there and members. The event planner was no where to be found most of the time. She provided very little guidance. The rest of the staff were rude and unaccomadating. For example, my daughters were in the wedding party and the staff escorted the girls and me to the bridal room. As I was getting them settled I asked where I could hang their dresses and the staff memeber looked around and told me to hang them on the hinge of the door. The reception demonstrated even futher that they have no clue how to handle an event. The hordourves were circulated briefly then flopped on the table, and they were cold. The kids at the wedding were given childs plates and the food was ice cold. The rest of the food was luke warm. The wait staff did not serve the bridal party first, or at the same time. This was a small wedding with only about 100 people. If I could give it no stars above I would. If I was the brides father I would be sitting in the managers office this morning after cancelling my check to renegotiate what exactly I am paying for.

Worst facial ever

by jvicente

I should of known, even when I called to make an appointment there was a faint giggiling in the back round. I just chalked it up to the adolescent on the phone and booked a facial. I came in only to be greeted coldly by my esthetician and then eyed up and down.(I guess I wasnt carrying the right handbag for a country club) The facial was very noisy, she kept scratching around for things, and then began slapping various cold products on my face, without even looking at my skin. The facial was suppose to be an hour it ended in forty minutes only so she could try to sell me products for twenty minutes. It was a waste of my morning and 100 dollars. I will never go back again.

Pros: Pretty place, and comfortable bed

Cons: Horrible stuck up staff
