I came here to the U.S on a M1 visa, which is supported by The Acting Corps. I love that! It is a student visa, so I get to stay and study acting in the world capital of acting, Los Angeles. I am very happy with my studies so far at The Acting Corps, and look forward to every new day of learning. The teachers and students are all great people and have made me feel most welcome.

I've been in other classes where you pay for class every week, but only work every second of third week. At the Acting Corps, you will act every session, which is every day (five days a week). I don't want to pay to watch other people act, and if I did, I would watch Pay-Per-View or take in a flick at the theatre. I joke, but seriously I learn by doing, not by acting, so I lobe the Acting Corps.

I'm a tech guy, well, I have worked as a tech guy up until now. I always wanted to act, but just didn't Until now. I asked my actor friend what the best school was, and they said the acting corps. So I signed up for boot camp one, and I loved it. I don't know if I'm going to have any luck as an actor, but now I know what I'm doing, and I want to keep doing it. I plan to keep on keeping on at the acting corps in 2016.

I love this school! I wasn't sure about the Meisner thing at first, all the guys in the class who spoke their truth just said I was hot, but once I spoke my truth back to them, it got interesting. And living in the moment is great for acting. It really changed how I approach a scene. And I love that I was able to act in every class, not all places are like that. Five stars!

Los Angeles has a butt-load of acting schools, and many of them are sub-par. The Acting Corps is one of the good ones. I have been to classes that are good for keeping you from getting rusty,, but at the Acting Corps, I learned so many new skills. New ways to approach a scene. Meisner. Michael Chekhov (not to be confused with Anton,Chekhov, the playwright). If you are going to take a class, take a good one for God's sake!

I have been going to Acting Corps classes for about three months now. I enrolled to find out what this Meisner thing was all about and haven't left! I have found my voice and emotions in this class as well as a new confidence. The class atmosphere allows me to overcome the self-conscienceness that has blocked so much of my creative energy.

Check her out if you are looking for a great acting class. You will learn alot more along the way!

The Acting Corps (not "Core") was exactly what is needed. Eugene, the owner, is building a well-rounder place to study; a place of learning, stretching, growing, challenging the actors' creative spirit in order to tap into what truly inspires each individual and bring it to the fore for the best of their craft. Five days a week is what I needed, no half-assing it here.

The place is called The Acting Corps, NOT The Acting Core, so I am posting this review in both places!

Los Angeles and the entertainment industry is a harsh place with no room for cry babies. So many people are trying to make it out here. The Acting Corps is a fantastic place to get to tools that will make you stand out in the crowd. I have gone there on and off for about a year, and have gone through all the programs, I have just started the Master Class.

If you are ready to quit whining and get serious about your career than this is the place for you.

I truly believe that the Acting Corps is one of the best acting schools in Los Angeles. It doesn't have them name recognition of some other well known schools, but it's every bit as good. They always strive for people to be the best they can possibly be. The Meisner Technique isn't right for everyone, but if you like Meisner at all, this is the best place to study it.

I went to the studio last summer for the Boot Camp 1 program and am now starting Boot Camp 2.

First of all, I'm pretty sure they're called "The Acting CORPS", not "CORE".

That being said, however you want to spell it, it's a great school. I didn't even know how much I didn't know until I went there. The bottom line is that I learned a lot, and they made me a better actor.

There is a negative review below in which the poster admits that the CLASSES and TEACHEARS are GREAT, and yet this person gives The Acting Corps one star because they had to sign a paper saying they would be on time for class, ect. How does this work? Even negative reviews praise the classes and teachers!

But I do agree with them that the classes and teachers are GREAT. I also had a great group of people in my class. This is a REAL SCHOOL, not one of those sham places that give out a "diploma" or "letter" at the end. You go to an acting school to improve your acting, and that's what they give you, skills.

Oh, and I am not a "kid that works there", I was a student there last month (May-June 2010). Someone in class mentioned the odd posting, and I though it would be cool to share MY experiences.

Ok. Honestly. Before this review gets lost beneath the hundreds of positive reviews problay posted by the owners, or kids who work there to help promote the school.
I'd just like to say Beware! In no way am I down playing the teachers, or the lessons, and experience they bring to the table, but the business side of it is a problem.
Simply put the owners in the office are money hungry. In fact thats the first thing that was brought to my attention upon arrival my first night at the school. Your greeted with a hello, how are you, and by the way cough up the money.
Your made to sign a contract stating the school can cut you loose for any reason, and they keep your a thousand bucks. Then you must abide by a lot of silly rules that I'd imagine would apply to a child in a grade school setting. I've witnessed a professional actress with IMDb accrediation walk out of here, and not come back. Of course they tried to sugar coat it over.
You pretty much give them all your hard earned cash, and they try to intimidate you. The teachers are very good, I've learned alot, and met a decent group of people in my class. Unofrtunatly the business side of it is the down side. The woman from the office actualy had the nerve to interupt our class, shake each of our hands, and hand ous a post card staing refer a friend get a hundred bucks. Really?
I would expect a certificate, or atleast a letter, but your left with a post card in your hand promoting the school after a 4 week program with nothign to show for it doubting wether, or not your money was well spent.

Pros: Excellent Teachers who have no investment in the school.

Cons: Dirt bag owners. Over priced. Bad business. Not accredited.

I was new to town and this guy I met in Hollywood said I should check out the place. I did, it looked cool, so I took some classes. I loved it. Who would have though some random guy in Hollywood would give me such a great referral. Now I recommend it to you.

I have been studying at the Acting Corps for over a year now and I have nothing but amazing things to say about the school! I have learned a great deal about myself and the kind of actor I want to be. The teachers do not coddle your bad habits, but instead, give you the tools to break free of them. Through technique work, scene study, cold reading and on-camera classes I have seen this craft in a different light and one that will be a lifelong journey. the Acting Corps has made me appreciate life and art more intensely, and in return, I have been able to love deeper and enjoy life on an entirely new plane.

I love this school! I am close to finishing BC 2 and my eyes have been opened to a whole new world. So many acting issues I had have been addressed. I tried another popular "factory" school in town and I only got to do scene work once a week. I left because it wasn't enough. Here, I am active and up there working every day. The teachers are working actors, they know a lot about technique and scene work is always mind-blowing. And their career advice has been so invaluable. Better to get it from people who are out there doing it. And even when the teachers have auditions, they still come to class, prepared, alert! How do they do it? I wanna be like that! It's a very professional environment. We had a couple of flakes in the class and they didn't stay around for too long, they were asked to leave. No room for negative people, thank you!

Once I realized that I would not be happy doing anything else with my life other than acting, I enrolled at The Acting Corps, and it changed my life and the way that I see this craft. It is a wonderful studio that takes this thing we call "acting" very seriously. I have become a better actor, a more alive person in my everyday life, and continually inspired to reach goals that I thought were out of touch. I am more confident because of what I have learned in this studio. If you are going to STUDY... do it HERE.

I have been attending the Acting Corps for a while now and I have learned so much that it is hard to summerize it here. I have also gained so many valuable skills and tools to better understanding the world of acting and auditioning and working as an actor. I have learned it all from the Acting Corps. This school claimed to have over 1000+ members that are now on IMDB and after attending this school it is clear why they are so effective, and that You can also be another one of there success stories just like me!

I fell in love with the Acting Corps because of the atmosphere and the style of teaching. It is an intense course that focuses on the technique of the craft. The teachers are professional actors themselves so they give you the knowledge on how to survive in today's industry, while also giving you the tools you need to book jobs. I have fallen in love with acting because of the Acting Corps! The number is different though... it is 818.753.2800.... My favorite quite applys, "Go and try!"

When I finally decided to move to Los Angeles to finally pursue my dream of acting, I did as much research as I could to help me decide where I should take classes. I wanted to go to a school where I could study everyday -- and would allow me to discover for myself whether or not acting is for me. I got just what I needed at the Acting Corps, and then some. I am on my feet every single day that I take classes, and I have learned so much from my instructors about what it takes to be a great actor.

I am so very happy with my decision to take classes here, and am currently auditioning and making strides to be a working actor!

I've been doing this thing called acting for a long time, and I have been to many schools, but I can truly say that The Acting Corps really changed my view of things, and my direction. It was a hard decision for me to make when I first signed up as it was a five-day a week commitment, but I made the right choice.

Before I went to them, I'd take a few classes here and there, but lacked a technique. I tried to do the sense memory thing, and a bit of "the method", but it just wasn't getting me anywhere. At the Acting Corps, I learned Meisner... and that changed my life. Not just my acting, my life (Meisner can do that). Then in Boot Camp 2, I learned Michael Chekov??s technique. Amazing.

As you might have guessed, I highly recommend them.

I flew in from Germany to go to this school, so I was afraid this would not be what I was hoping it would be. I did some Meisner Technique classes before in Munich but never really got what the whole thing was about. And I??d heard such great things about The Acting Corps from my friends that I decided to check it out for myself. So I talked to Nigel on the phone and he explained it all for me. So far, this is the best experience of my life. Sidney, my scene study teacher, even offered to help me get a manager, she??s super cool and makes you believe in yourself. I would never go anywhere else than The Acting Corps.

I??ve been to The Acting Corps, since Boot Camp I, and II, and now in The Advanced Program. I came in from a four year Bachelor??s degree, not really knowing what I was doing and now I??m like miss career chick.

I go out on theatrical stuff two three times a week, still a
couple of commercial auditions(which now I book because a. I know what I??m doing and b. I don??t care) but basically it??s a whole different ballgame. All the teachers are working actors who teach the stuff I
need when I go out there myself. No other place like the Acting Corps. And PS. Eugene Buica totally rocks. H??s really easy to talk to and will sit down with you and help you with whatever you need.

The Acting Corps and Eugene Buica got me to Los Angeles. This school that Eugene created is exactly what they say it is. Amazing training in a couple of months. There??s a lot of stuff I could say about The
Acting Corps, other than acting, but truth is that my life has changed for the better. There is no doubt in my mind that I could??ve picked a school that isn??t as committed and strong ?? there are a lot of scams
out there, and I??m glad I picked the real thing.

When I first moved to LA I was looking for a place to stay fresh and work out as an actor between my auditions and acting work. I have tried quite a few schools and felt that they were politely beating me down... to "rebuild" / "keep me in class so they could make money" so i'd be "ready" to work.

Anyway... I was referred to The Acting Corps by a well known T.V. actress. I went through BC1 then 2 and am currently in AP. I absolutely feel that this place builds upon the skills I already have and allows me to stretch the muscles that need developing. PLUS they encourage me to go out and get jobs, and sincerely congratulate me when I do!

The teachers don't sugar coat the notes given each class, which I like, you can't be 'perfect' and learn at the same time :) (although we actors are perfectionists)

I also love that this school combines techniques. I'm of the belief that the more techniques (Meisner, Chekhov..) to draw from = the better.

Overall, I'd highly recommend the Acting Corps to any of my fellow actors looking for a place to grow in LA!!

A little about my background: I have studied acting for about five years. I moved to Los Angeles three years ago to pursue my dream of becoming an actor. I have taken classes all over town (workshops, intensives, on camera classes, etc). I was working sporadically, but nothing like I had hoped. About a year ago I was pretty much done with acting, and was even thinking about moving home. A guy that I had worked with at the time had just finished boot camp 2 at the Acting Corps and told me about it. I looked up their website, called them and asked some questions and was pretty skeptical, honestly. I let a month go by, and I kept thinking about it, and finally decided I was going to give this thing one last shot.

I enrolled in boot camp 1 last March. By the end of the first week, I felt like I had been given a creative shot in the arm. I did boot camp 2 right afterwards, and then did the advanced program. I feel like I learned more in 9 months there than I did in the previous 4 years combined. Not only are the acting classes brilliant, but their business of show business class in BCII turned my career around. I got new headshots, dropped my previous agent and got a new one, and in the last 6 months I??ve booked 2 commercials, had multiple table reads, 2 producers?? sessions, and finally landed my first co-starring role in a feature.

Bottom line, I would have been gone by now but, instead, I??m finally working and it rocks.

Pros: everything, learn from the best teachers in town

.

Not worth my time and money. Why pay money to go somewhere that is looked down upon by Casting Directors and the rest of the Industry. Also, the owner is a pompous rude jerk, and I don't feel good giving my money to a place knowing they are lining his pockets.

The guy that is running this school is a Drama Queen and so are the people in the office. They have had a few good teachers come through there, but their goal is one thing ....MONEY.... meaning yours. Their heart is not in the right place when it comes to acting. Don't be fooled by the Veneer. After they shuttle you through the quickly paced Boot Camps, you have no where to go except a muddled Advanced Program.

If your still thinking about going, ask them how many teachers have they gone through in the last year and how few stay. Maybe 2 teachers out of 10, that says something.

Pros: Example: best croissants in town

Cons: What are the drawbacks?

I agree....the owner is an absolute idiot!!!! He doesn't give the students the time of day. And is always in a bad mood.....he needs to remember it is the students who are paying him!!! The only thing they got going for themselves is the technique teacher, Dariush Kashani.....without him I honestly believe that majority of the students would drop out. If you're able to get him as one of your teachers i say go for it....if not look else where.

I agree with the previous. Don't waste your money here. Some of the other teachers are good but all the best of them leave very quickly because of the owner.

To One And All:

Avoid at all costs this place. I was interviewed to be a teacher and the owner questioned me as if they were Yale School Of Drama. And even there, they're not as pretentious. I'm curious what this guy's actual credits are. Also, his teaching philosophy is too spelled out and more about what he has to say i.e. "acting guidelines." Too heady and analytical. His views on Michael Chekhov's "psychological gesture" is completely skewered. I was taught by a leading Chekhov professional in graduate school and their background is completely counter-productive to what he teaches or what he thinks it is. Avoid bloated, know-it-all teaching gurus who think they'll lead you to the promised land of acting, when in fact, they want your money. There's a big difference between someone with an MFA/BFA who should be teaching and running acting/theater schools, with an all-around background in theater/tv/film, and not someone who opens a fly-by-night acting school because they have an average performance background with bloated credits. Do your research as I did the owner. A true acting teacher is someone who is still working on their own craft, acting, writing, directing, etc. This guy couldn't get hired doing anything else.

Pros: Nothing

Cons: The owner. His credits are false and bloated.

OK. So I just got finished The Actors' Boot Camp. What a trip...what an awesome, amazing experience. I feel like I'm at the beginning of something really cool and exciting - my acting career. The school is serious, the instructors are ALL great, and I walked away learning tons about acting and about myself as well. I just have to say that I have never had anyone care so much about my progress and my future. These people really cared to the point that they threw out a guy the first week for being a flake. They also got us up on our feet acting like an hour and a half a day, if you count the DAW, which I don't know how long it's been around. So I'm totally stoked - got my first agent interview on Friday. Just make sure if you come here to not be late, they don't like that at all, and also avoid the place next door - half hour for a sandwich?????? Other than that everyone does an awesome job.

Pros: Amazing teachers, learned more than I ever learned in college, got to act a lot every day.

Cons: Strict Lateness and Attendance Policy but maybe that's a good thing

Whatever you wind up doing with your life, like it or not, at some point you will look back on that occupation and call it your life??s work. So choose wisely. And if that doesn??t work, choose acting.

Because quite honestly, acting is not the pragmatic choice, it is so much more. It is a choice based on a dream, an inexplicable desire to experience and express the human condition and to do all that in front of others. And hopefully for hard currency. Not a bad way to spend one??s time on this planet.

I have trained in Chicago, NY and now LA. I was having a lot of difficulty finding a place to study that had working teachers that wanted to teach instead of bitter ex-actors that could do nothing but teach. If you are looking for a coach that is currently working and will be encouraging yet very blunt about what it is you need to work on then this is the place for you. My only struggle with this school was that the students all were very new to acting. I made some amazing friends that were very talented.... but almost everyone was fresh to acting.

After trying out five different schools in LA this is my top choice!

I went to Bootcamp I. After I paid, they gave me a laundry list of rules that they never mentioned until they already had my payment in full. You aren't allowed to miss class w/ a doctor's note or wear open toed shoes. If you miss a 2nd class you have to pay $50. If you miss more classes you are supposedly kicked out. Some teachers won't even allow you to use the bathroom when you need to. The Director is a POMPOUS JIRK who acts like he is so self-important and treats students with disrespect yet he has virtually zero IMDB credits. I guess it's good he created this school since he's had zero career in Hollywood. There were 2 complete flakes in my class, who missed class & came in late regularly. Neither were ever kicked out. Their flake behavior was just tolerated. Also, the idea of a full-time schedule is a great idea, but I got the feeling that AC didn't have enough material to fill the classes. We had 2 days of technique where we did straight repeition w/ a partner for 10 minutes & then sat the rest of the class watching others. We had a cold reading/scene study class, which was useful. The 5th class was total fluff, a complete waste of time, called The Actor's Instrument, it was like an exercise/movement class for senior citizens. At the end of Bootcamp I, I was invited to Bootcamp II. I expressed interest in taking the next session & asked what the deadline was for payment. I would've gone elsewhere but no other school fit my schedule. Believe me I checked every school in L.A. Yesterday the school called & I assumed it was for my payment. Turns out the class that I had been invited to attend and thought I had reserved a space for was full. One of the teachers Dariush Kashani is a great teacher, but that is it. I feel like the school was really incompetant in the fact that they invited me to attend the next session and then didn't have a space for me. Their rules are ridiculous. I am trusting that it's just meant to be & looking elsewhere.

Pros: Dariush Kashani is a great teacher, residential parking close by, affordable

Cons: some classes are not useful, incompetant employees screwed up scheduling, rules, rules, rules that aren't enforced, flakes allowed to stay

I have trained at the Acting Corps and this is the best place to train. If you are serious about acting and want a place to hone your skills, be challenged and learn how to market yourself as an actor this place is a must. The teachers and staff are great and the coolest part is this place actually pushes you to audition ASAP. I went out on two auditions and booked! Thank you Acting Corps!

I stumbled on the www.TheActingCorps com website and the place sounded very cool. I went down to check them out. Everyone working there was so friendly. The place had a great vibe about it, so I decided to try them out for a month. I didn't have a lot of previous acting experience, but I think I learned a lot. I loved it. I can not say too many nice things about them. I'd been wanting to take some classes for a long time, and I'm glad I did, and I'm glad I found such a great place. I feel they really awakened my passion for acting.

I went to the Acting Corps thinking I was already a good actor, but what I didnt know could fill a book. They gave me the training foundation I needed. Now I'm having great auditions and getting acting jobs. I went to other schools before, and all they did was make me think I was good when I wasn't. This is truly a great program for dedicated actors that are serious about it. This is NOT a school for lazy people that want to be discoverd walking down the street.
