Hi, this is James, the contractor involved in the above customer's statement. I just want to clarify the context of the situation. The customer had a limited time frame after closing the escrow and hired us to finish the painting job within 3-4 days before moving in. However, when our company arrived, the house was not ready to be painted (i.e. the baseboard, hardwood floors, and molding should have already been attached). If we went ahead with painting without waiting for the carpentry work, we would have to paint twice, which would be additional charges that we ourselves would incur, not the customer. Our painters were the only ones supposed to be in the house to quickly finish the job on time, but we found the carpenter/handyman still working, and was told the job would take half the day. We decided to eat and then come back when it was finished, but the work was still not done. We called the customer to explain that it was impossible to start our job without a finished interior, and she arrived and became upset after listening to the handyman without giving us a chance to explain. We were forced to cancel the job even after purchasing paint and materials which was never paid for, and cannot be used for other jobs.

Likewise, we were recommended to take on this job by the customer's realtor, who we've worked with on numerous jobs. We are professionals with high standards, and strive hard to provide the best finished work, which require adequate preparation. Our ethics have carried us through for the last 30 years.

Although it did not work out, we were respectful and did not yell at the customer, who we knew was pregnant at the time. We would not jeopardize our relationship and future work with the realtor by arguing with the customr. I personally apologize that our customer could not be satisfied, which I realize will not always be possible.

Although Mr. Lee's prices were high, we were willing to try his service based on a recommendation---BIG MISTAKE---his crew came over, had numerous reasons why they could not start work right away, took breakfast and lunch within an hour of arrival and thenn, when we brought the issues to Mr. Lee's attention, he said that he's used to working on million dollar homes and basically yelled at me until another contractor asked him to leave---not sure if he was in his right mindor not but he is a time bomb and perhaps milliionaires can afford to deal with him but all others should save their money and get a respectable painter
