STAY AWAY FROM 'On The Waterfront'.
We rented here since it's the store closest to the dock. They have the most convenient spot but like what other people have posted, we were one of those who had a terrible experience with this store on July 4. What a waste of time and it ruined our entire trip!

We rented one jetski and it died after a few minutes away from the dock. We were lucky to have been able to turn back and requested them to check the unit and give us a replacement. The staff looks like they're scared with the owner, they wont say anything and just say they cant do anything. They wont refund and wont even explain anything. We waited and waited, and got upset and so hungry that we just left. I dont usually post review but I thought I need to write one to warn all other tourist or visitors who plan to try out their boats and jet skis... you're up to something bad so try out other sports rental in the area. ask about their service and make sure u dont get the same bad experience from 'On The Waterfront'!

read more reviews from very very upset customers on the net before you even consider renting here.

Do not shop here or do business with them. Roy is a crazy person. We took our jetski in for a minor tune-up. When we dropped it off we asked for a receiept and estimate, no receipt was given and the employee said that's how they do business. After a week we called to see what the estimate was for the tune-up and no one called back. We were told that it would not be ready in 3 - 4 weeks. After several phone calls we called and someone said it needed a minor tune-up and carb work. They quoted us $50.00 per carb and some labor to adjust the oil intake, we agreed to that estimate knowing that it would be less than $300.00 total. Two weeks go by and we call to see if it is ready and they say yes and that the bill is over $650.00. We ask to talk to the service manager and they say that they will give him a message. We ask for his cell phone but they refuse. We make three attempts to contact them by phone and no response. Finally we get a hold of Roy at the shopand he denies the estimate and argues with us and he tells us to pick up the boat and bring cash only. When we get there with $650 CASH he calls the police and tell them that he feels threatened because he is there alone. It should be noted that we are senior citizens. The police come and help faciliate our payment and return of our property. A real nut job. The police indicated that they get alot of calls to his store with the same scenario. He charged us $10 for gas for the test ride (it was full of fuel when brought in). In addition the jetski was damaged while in his possession which of course he denies.. Do not take your boats here or do any business wih this company.

We had a bad experience at On the Waterfront last Memorial Day weekend.
On Tues, May 20th, I called to reserve a 12 person ski boat for the following Sunday, May 24th. I only wanted the boat for four hours. I made a reservation from 11am-3pm and it was confirmed by the employee on the phone. I was quoted a price of $270. I was told that my card would be charged, and that there were absolutely no changes or cancellations allowed. I agreed to this and thought that everything was fine.
The following Friday, May 22nd at around 6pm, I received a phone call from On the Waterfront. The employee said that they made a mistake, and will not do half day rentals this weekend; I could either cancel completely or reserve the boat for the full day. I asked what the cost would be and was told $350. Since the call came late Friday before a holiday weekend, there was no way to reserve another boat. We were in the car on our way to Clear Lake already. I called back and spoke to a supervisor named Roy. I explained that I wanted to keep my confirmed reservation how it was, or at least receive a discount of the full day, but he wouldn't budge. After discussing the matter with my friends, I reluctantly called back again and reserved the boat for the full day.
Sunday morning I show up to rent the boat and the employee says that the full day rate is $460. I explained that I was quoted $350 on the phone. She agrees to rent us the boat for $350 and writes in that price on the rental agreement, which I sign.
After returning the boat at the end of the day, I find out that they had already charged my credit card the full $460 previously.
I then tried to explain to Roy that I would not have rented the boat if I had known it was that price. I had a completed rental agreement with a price of $350, and that's all I ever agreed to or signed for. During our conversation, he told my friend to "pipe down", and said that I "should have done my homework" on the boat prices. After a brief argument, he said that everything was settled as far as he was concerned and walked away while I was still talking. I am currently disputing the charge with my credit card company.

My biggest problems with this are:
1. The company makes an agreement with me that I cannot change or cancel - yet the company changes it solely for their own benefit and there's nothing that I can do about it.
2. We were quoted a price on the phone, signed an agreement with that price, allowed to take the boat thinking we were getting that price -- only to find out later that we were charged over a hundred dollars more. To me, that is borderline fraud.

This shop is located next to the park and the boat ramps in Lakeport. It is a full service store from clothes such as bathing suits, shorts, shirts, sandles to boating supplies like skiis, to the actual sea Doo and boat rental. The store is expensive but it's the only one in the area like it. The staff is very nice and are always willing to help.
