If you want some quick, generic, cafeteria style pizza, this is your place. There is nothing special about this pizza. They really need to work on quality of their food. Not very impressed.

This place has really good pizza! I don't think I would go out of my way to get it...but if I was in the Westwood area and was craving pizza, this would be my first choice. They have celebrity photos and autographs on the wall, so I guess that confirms that it's well known...? They warm up the pizza for you in the oven so it's nice and hot.

Originally from NY, I expected better. The place was dirty, tables filthy, and we had to clean our own. Value for the one topping slice was worthless. The server/cashier was a ditz. Only dough/crust, was acceptable, but the server did not put the spinach on top of our white pizza. At first we thought the dark green parsley bits in the cheese must be the spinach, but when we walked out, the server was giving others mounds of spinach and when we complained the mgr was belligerent and yelled. I don't care how many stars have gone here never again! They must be pocketing their cash only business too!!

Pizza place is simple, with a good selection. They heat it up upon order. You feel like you're in NY with its decor, though they are decorated with pictures of the london subway.

I haven't been back in awhile, since the good 'ol college days. But I stop by anytime I'm in town.

The absolute best NY pizza in Los Angeles (and we've tried almost all of them). Lamonica's moved a few years ago, but the food is still the same, just great. Thin, hot, greasy and delicious.

We have an account with LaMonica's here at UCLA. They deliver pizza to us every week. You'd think they'd be grateful for the business and try to get her on time BEFORE the seminar starts as we request they do. Today the delivery guy was half an hour late! When he showed up he wasn't the slightest bit apologetic. We asked if he was lost (you can excuse a new guy who doesn't know the campus too well) and he shrugged it off and said, "no, the traffic was bad." Well maybe if he left early (we gave them two hours from the time the order was placed) the traffic wouldn't have been so bad! Unbelievable. When we called earlier to find out where the dude was the woman taking the order (after keeping me on hold for 5 minutes) simply stated, "he left already" then hung up on me!
Oh, as for the quality of the pizza -- it's strictly mediocre, greasy, dorm room stuff you get when it's 3 AM and you have no other choice (not that they'd be open that late but you get the picture).

If you want quality, I'd suggest traveling to Echo Park for Masa of Echo Park! Now there is some tasty pizza...

After soccer practice, I needed to find a pizza place for the 15 kids in the back of my van. On my left, I suddenly see this pizza restaurant sign and I yell "Pizza Guys?" The answer was "Yeeeeeeeeah!" So we stopped there and I was able to feed everyone of these little monkeys for only $25. Rad!

The pies are consistently excellent, but right now it's been 2 hours & 10 minutes and it's STILL not here. Shortest ever was 45 minutes, but it's usually 90.

So there I was reading the local raves about Lamonica's New York PIzza in Westwood, Ca.. So, I call them and they answer with a yes to all the major questions, ie; delivery, delivery to my area, etc. So we get the pizza designed, they take my info ,so far so good and the nice lady says to me, "Cash Only". Cash Only?. Are you serious?. How do you stay in business?. She laughed. She added that even if I ate there I would have to pay with cash.
What a waste of time!. So,while I can't comment on the food I can say with certainty that this place has to be losing business in droves.
So,if you want a delivery...make sure you can get to an Atm before it arrives.

Growing up on the west coast with two parents from back east, I've been forced into understanding the fundamentals of New York pizza authenticity. And while it's pretty much impossible to get an authentic NY pizza in L.A., LaMonica's produces some darn good pies. The secret to really getting the best of this place is ordering by the slice. They come out of the oven perfectly crisped and wonderfully thin. My favorites are the tomato basil and the mushroom, but they offer all kinds of toppings. The crust is thin, the sauce has a good acidity to it, and the interior is appropriately gritty, nearing hole-in-the-wall status (if it weren't for all the good reviews). I like to add a garlic roll to my order, a must for any garlic-lover.

I agree that this pizza is not NY pizza. But for those of us stuck on the west coast its as good as it gets. the pizza is flavorful, crispy and dirt cheep.

Lamonica's is the best pizza in the Westide and possibly even all of LA (I havent tried them all so I couldnt say). Their dough is flown in from NY and the ingredients are sooo fresh. I am obsessed with the pizza and the service is fast and friendly and they even deliver!

the pizza is pretty good for the price i guess. But my parents own two authentic Italian deli's and I've eaten pizza all my life. thus i get very analytical over the ingredients.

The sauce needs more taste and it seems that the cheese is ok quality. I tried to ricotta cheese and it was absolutely tasteless.

if you are looking for a place that fills you up with somewhat of a good taste.. then this is the place..
its a great place when coming home late from work or club.

I am a big fan of thin-crust pizza (none of that thick, greasy stuff), so I fell in love with Lamonica's. It's a trademark spot in Westwood with its New York-inspired motif inside. Though they're thin, the slices are huge and the toppings are generous.

LaMonica's has delicious pizza for totally reasonable prices - and when you consider their huge fan base, they MUST be good! The ambience is a little dive-y but fun with it's New York theme, with street-signs, pictures, etc. They also deliver, and are open late. Stop by here for a tasty slice while you're in Westwood.

The pizza scene on the Westside is a bit lacking, but Lamonica's is the standout! The pizza is consistant from one visit to the next and is loved by my 4 year old, my 11 year old and their grandparents! They are generous in their pricing for local school pizza parties and always very pleasant when delivering or eating in!

Setting this joint apart from other Westwood and Westwood Village pizza joints: large really is large; crust is thin (not true NY thin, though); crust to cheese to topping ratio seems just right; and when Lamonica's takes your order over the phone, they can understand what I'm saying, I can understand what they're saying*, and they find their way to my address right when they say they will. *P.S. I'm not dissing accents here, I'm just happy that at Lamonicas the phone connection / loudness of the shop / critical thinking abilities of the staff allow them to get my order right the first time. Period.

I love not getting too much dough / bread with my pizza and this is about as thin as pizza crust comes in the Westwood area.

I am starting to doubt citysearch reviews because of this. It is "good" but it is by NO MEANS better than NEW YORK pizza. The dough is decent, but not true NY Thin. Lacks consistency(yes I've eaten it enough because of lack of other choices but eatin a slice does not make me crave more, and that disappoints me. The cheese quality is average and not fresh. Same with Tomatoes (CANNED), cheap Sausage, and sauce that lacks some ESSENTIAL herbs.

I've tried about 10 different places for pizza that claims to be like the east coast and this is the best I've had since I've been in LA. I just stopped in and got 2 slices and thoroughly enjoyed them. I'm not a huge fan of thin crust and that's why this is so good also.

I've lived in New York, Chicago and in LA. Without a doubt, Lamonica's is right there with the best of the best. Larry and Vinny's Pizza off the boardwalk in Coney Island has to be the all time best Pizza place but they've been out of business for years. Calzones are a must as are the garlic roles at Lamonicas. Don't be afraid to get sicilian style, too. It is a little "doughy" but sicilian has to be this way. Tell them you want extra sauce and sausage and you'll be fine!

Cons: Tables are small in number and in size. If you need to go to the bathroom, rethink your need. It can get a little crowded in there when the students are really hungry. 1 o

They have it here! And pretty good slices, at that. When I'm in the area, I usually stop by Diddy Riese and Lamonica's (Yeah, i know, cookies and pizza. Not exactly health food). Their pizza's are fantastic. The crust is thin, but lots of times, you don't even have to fold it (not sure if that's a good thing). They have a pretty big selection behind the glass case. They do have some Sicilian style pizzas too. The interior of the restaurant is decorated with New York Subway art. Nothing fancy, but who cares, just as long as the pizza is good. And it is!

One of the saddest days of my decade-plus in L.A. was when the Lamonica's in Brentwood closed down. Apparently it just wasn't bland and pretentious enough for the Starbuckin' yokels. Thankfully however, the West L.A. location lives on, offering up the best pizza in Los Angeles, period. I'm not even really a doughboy but I suck down the whole slice at this joint. It's the best place to cram your face before a movie at the Village, and as for all you whining New Yorkers, their dough comes from New York so get over yourselves.

There is not much to say. This pizza tastes great. Stop comparing everything to new york. If you like New York pizza that much than leave. I have eaten pizza here since I went to UCLA. It has a tacky New York feel, but you are there to eat pizza and not to discuss the decor. Enjoy the pizza, new york style or sicilian.
You can't beat this place for a bite to eat before a movie.

Excellent pizza--perhaps the best in town. A great favorite with UCLA students. Delivery is prompt.

I love Lamonica's pizza. I went on a date to Lamonica's six years ago and I have been hooked ever since. I definitely recommend this pizza joint than any other in the Los Angeles area.

Probably the best Pizza in LA. You can go in a nd get a quick slice or order a whole pie. Sicillian cheese is highly recommended! Not really a place to go in and sit down but if you want to pick up some pizza to take home..this is the place.

I have been searching for SOMETHING that resembles pizza in Los Angeles and found Lamonica's to be the closest thing to the real thing.

The crust, and even the ambience is like a pizza place in the city.

If you aren't from NY you may not care for the ambience or service but it's alright by me.
