purchased $1000.00 mattress oct 2008. 'memory foam' really sponge, sink in so far cant get out without rolling over. complained and they took the mattress for 10+ days & said no problem. now sleeping on floor due to terrible back pain and bed sores. best stores in the valley? gotta be really sick to believe that!

My parents bought a living room set from Weatherby's a year ago with no problems. However, when buying furniture for their family room this year they were treated very poorly and are very upset. They purchased 2 recliners and a love seat 8 weeks ago and immediately saw problems. The materiel covering the chairs started folding and buckling and looks horrible and one of the recliners didn't work correctly. My parents made at least 5 phone calls (all dates are documented) and were usually given quite a run around. They were told that they could not get the manager's name or a corporate number. When a technician did come out he confirmed that the recliners were defective. My parents understandably wanted them replaced with a new set but the only option they were given was to have the defects "fixed". This was for something that cost them 1400.00!!

My parents are elderly and in ill health so I'm guessing that this makes them a "target". At the point that my dad became so upset that he thought he was having a heart attack I stepped in and said I would handle it. I was certain that if I just spoke with the store manage their concerns would be heard. I was so wrong!! I spoke with J. Rankin and he was just as unhelpful and rather combatitive. He said the parts to fix the defects had come in and they would be taking one chair at a time back to the shop to have them "fixed". I explained that they don't want new, defective furniture to be "fixed" but wanted a replacement set. He refused. As of now they don't even want replacement furniture they just want their money returned. J. Rankin absolutely refused to discuss this further and refused to give me the name or number of their corporate office. My parents are very upset, very stressed out and have lost all confidence in Weatherby's. I was certain that I could get this fixed but now I also have zero respect for Weatherby's or J. Rankin. We will never shop there and you can be sure that we will be spreading this story!
