I've been a member for four years. I was previously a member of Sports Club LA (on Sepulvada, yes, the expensive one), Equinox on Wilshire, LA Fitness on Wilshire, Powerhouse on Olympic. Gold's Gym Venice is hands down the best. Let me address parking first. When I first visited and even started my membership I thought, "Oh my god, no parking." Couldn't be further from the truth. There is always parking and never a weight. Always. The lot right in front of the gym is where I park now. It took me three years to figure out if you weight less then three minutes there is always someone coming out. And I mean less than three minutes. There are also two additional giant lots in the back and across the street. The E

This club is a little different than others because they have more equiptment than other gyms. People that come here are serious about their health and fitness. Have recommended to others.

I went to Gold's gym in Venice,Ca on a sunday evening, thinking it wouldn't be that busy. I was looking forward to the "old school serious gym atmosphere" as I was on vacation and this was to be one of the highlights of my trip. I was somewhat surprised by the $20 walk-in fee, but shocked by the complete lack of gym ediquette ( I.E. returning plates/dumbells when you are done), which may not seem like a big deal, but when you are hunting for a pair of dumbells and one might be on the rack, and the other might be buried on the floor under the rack with a 150# dumbell in front of it, or you walk up to a bench or rack and aren't sure if someone is on it or not, as they don't bother to rerack the plates when they are done. You might think a staff member would organize this, but not the case here. They actually have a deadlift platform, and also some KG plates and kettlebells, but they are all under lock and key, as if someone is going to throw one in their gymbag and walkout....all in all, they do have some cool equipment, but its definately not the gym it was. Its way over-commercialized, with the "Gold's gym" tv network, etc, and also way overpriced. I was very disappointed, and won't ever waste a trip back. As a previous person commented, the parking is also a joke. Good luck finding a spot on the street, let alone the lot.

I've been going to Golds Gym in Venice, the Mecca, for about a year. Its great for people who like to socialize, do steroids, or gawk at the freak show that is put on every day.
The staff is unprofessional and makes moves on my girl friend. The equipment is old and dirty; my girl friend just got ringworm from using the equipment. The bathrooms are usually dirty and smelly.
All in all its a good place if your a bodybuilder, but I would recommend something else.

Pros: Socail, Freak show, "Mecca", Celebs

Cons: Ringworm, Packed, Dirty, Smelly, Old, the Staff, Attitude

Gold's Gym in by far the best gym I've ever stepped foot into. It is filled with a huge variety of weight machines; often more than one of the same machine can be found in any of the three separate areas. It has a wide variety of cardio machines as well and if that bores you, there are many fun classes to choose from.

The first time I walked into the gym I was a bit intimidated because of all the options, but now I have all my favorites and when I'm up to try something new there's plenty to choose from. I even had one of the trainers give me a body fat analysis one day. (They do it for free for members!)

There are a lot of friendly faces and buff bods at this gym. I've made several friends myself and they help to push me to my goals and are always sharing tips. No matter what shape you're in, this gym is amazing. Either you're working on a goal and this gym will really help motivate you, or your maintaining a lifestyle in which case this gym will reinforce your healthy lifestyle and there are many options you can choose from to always mix things up!!!

I once went to this Gold's Gym to check out a yoga class that was offered by a famous instructor. The gym was located on a small street of Hampton away from major traffic so it was a bit difficult to find. But then I was left in the small alley with so many cars jammed up street parking that I went around and around to find a parking spot nearby with no luck. I ended up missing my yoga class!!!!! I hear they have some pretty good classes but the parking situation alone is enough of a hassle. Would never go there again.

Very well priced memberships but co-ed bathrooms are a nightmare and overall condition of gym is dirty, old, and always out of parking. I would not recommend it if you are a cardio person because they only have about 12 treadmills which are always full and there are some very questionable characters in the weights area. Parking is very difficult during busy hours (5pm-8pm) but membership rates are very affordable and they give student discounts.
