This place has great English food and there is not a place like this in the Valley. The staff is very friendly! It is a small place and they have a bar and plenty of TVs in there. The Shepherd's pie is one of my favorites!

My wife and I had just watched the new "Star Trek" movie and wanted a place to have a few drinks before going home. We had a flyer for this place on the fridge at home so we stopped by the house to get it. It read at the top of the flyer that they served fish & chips till midnight...so we got in our car and drove there. We got there to people enjoying themselves & having a good time.

We sat at the bar and it took nearly five minutes for the lady bartender w/ white & black hair to offer us anything to drink. I ordered a beer from the tap. My wife did order at that time. The bartender (who obviously doesn't have a lick of bar experience brings me a beer where the glass is mostly foam. Not even half the glass was filled with beer. I took a few sips and told the lady I wanted something else. She went to get me another beer and she had trouble getting the beer to come out of the tap. At this point, I'm getting a little irritated. I could tell right away that I would not be coming back to this establishment. FINALLY!!! A beer.

So the next thing I ask the bartender was do you serve food? She said, our kitchen is closed. I said, well this flyer says that you serve fish and chips till midnight. She said, sorry. My wife and I were hungry and we wanted to have some food. But did we get it? NO!!

I had a few more pints and my wife had a glass of wine then we called it a night. I paid a total of $25 for three pints and a glass of wine. Do I think I got a fair shake? NO!! It would have been a lot better if the staff were friendly and upbeat. The people who work there looked like they all had personal problems and didn't care for being there. And one more thing. The guy who was allowed to come around to the other side of the bar and serve himself drinks was pretty alarming....boy, I wish I could do that.

Overall, this experience was not that great. It really really stunk.

Pros: None

Cons: Unexperienced, lazy & sleazy bartender

The best pub that i have been to since moving to Los Angeles from Manchester, England 8 years ago. I have been to many pubs all over Los Angeles and some in Ventura County and this pub has by far the best food. The beer selection is good and the bartenders were friendly... All around a good experience. I recommend this place to anyone still searching for a genuine British Pub and Restaurant in Los Angeles. It's this place. I'll be going back there quite often.

DO NOT GO HERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

We, a party of six, arrived here at 12:15. We were, aside from a group of 8, the only customers in the entire place.

At 12:20, we were asked what drinks we wanted.

At 12:25, we were served drinks. Again - there are two tables in the entire place - it's otherwise empty.

At 12:30, we ordered our food. Nothing special - 4 orders of fish and chips and two other orders, neither of which had a long lead time.

At 12:40, the party of 8 was entirely served. The waitress then vanished.

At 1 PM, two guys entered the restaurant and sat down.

At 1:15 PM, we were asked if we wanted more to drink. Someone got a coke.

At 1:25, the two guys that had walked in were served their food.

At 1:28, the big party got up to pay their check.

At 1:32, we left. We were never served food, and in an hour and 15 minutes, the waitress came by our table three times.

I honestly wish I could give this place negative two stars. I've never had this happen in LA. Not once. An hour and 15 minutes for zero food with virtually no other customers. Nobody in our party had said anything offensive - most of the talk was work talk. Some of us had ordered beer - it wasn't "six waters, please."

Avoid this place like the plague.

My daughter and I stumbled upon Buchanan's last weekend and went in for a meal. The owner was most cordial and friendly and we had a good time. The steak and kidney pie, chips and peas and gravy was delish. My daughter's sausage roll and beans and chips also went down quickly. We loved the food. It is convenient and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes British food. They've got Newcastle and Boddingtons on tap. We'll be going back soon and often.

It was a very good place. We went there all the time, and their food is always great. Their fish & chips....can't find any better one. They have a nice selection of beer on tap. If you live in valley, you have to try it.
