.

When I went to sign up my son for kindergarten at our local school in Piedmont Unified, known for the ??best schools in the area,? I was a little nervous and unsure about this milestone my son was about to embark on. As I provided the necessary verification of my residency and began filling out the papers, I heard the school bell ring and my stomach tightened. The ringing echoed throughout the halls and buildings, bringing with it memories of too many kids on the playground, teachers too preoccupied and busy to notice you, and that overwhelming sense of being a part of a system that one so little could get easily lost in. I nearly ran from the building, and then I found Archway?

Archway had charming classrooms decorated with art, poetry, and science experiments. There were kitchens for cooking with the children, and in each classroom small groups of children were working and discussing various projects with their teachers so excited that each one couldn??t wait to share her/his idea with the rest. The school felt alive with creativity, anticipation, and an excitement for learning. I knew this was the place where my son would thrive.

After a few months at Archway, my son exclaimed that he intended to stay there all the way until 8th grade. My son is now in 6th grade at Archway. It has been a wonderful place for him to grow and learn through creative field trips and camping trips, elaborate experiments, community projects, and through the encouragement from truly caring and intelligent teachers. It has been a pleasure being a part of this community of parents and staff working together to support this amazing place for children.
