Granted, this place isn't the most sophisticated spot. But, if you're looking for a fun place w/ awesome music, to hang with your friends...Bruno's is it! We recently had my bday here and I don't remember the last time I had so much fun out. The mangement was so accomodating and totally took care of us all night!

This is a cool spot. Great service, good drinks, good food. It can get crowded and a lot of people reserve for private parties, so there can be limited seating. All in all, great atmosphere.

No swankeir place to eat kobe sliders and mac and cheese. The service was good and the place is fun. The ambience is more LA than SF which is a nice change. We went with a group of people to happy hour and will definitely return. It helps also that it is in my neighborhood.

I went to Bruno's on Friday, 11/17/06. The cover was $5. The staff was very friendly and the club had enough people not to be empty, but not too many that your constantly saying excuse me or bumping into people. I had a great time b/c it was a multi room club with a mission crowd.

Bruno's is HOT. The newly renovated venue is gorgeous campared to what was there before. My friends and I had a party there last week, and we had the best time. The drinks and food are delicious. I really recommend trying the macaroni and cheese, the homemade mozzerella sticks and the kobe beef sliders. (We just about tried everything on the menu). The crowd is always fun, and they have great dj's spinning music there on the weekends, which is perfect for us because we like to get crazy on the dancefloor after a few drinks. This place is fun and has a great vibe, and I definitely am anxious to check out the live music during the weekdays. My friends and I had such a great time there last week, we're planning on having another birthday party here as well as some holiday parties. They have a few really great rooms for parties. Make sure to check out the Pussycat VIP room if you have a chance. I really glad that Bruno's is open now, because it's definitely the new hottest spot in San Francisco.

I used to frequent this venue as one of the best places to hear jazz. And it was defenitely tragic when the place changed ownership, and was closed for renovation for a whole year and a half. When I heard the place re-opened, again as Bruno's, I was curious whether it would be the same again. The renovation is not the best, the center room is gone, along with the fish tank, and now the place is covered in leopard print carpet, with flat screens galore. The place is now so tacky to match the new disrespectful staff. Perhaps they are trying to resurrect the legend, still posting reviews from the past on their website as though their own, but after my time there last night I am certain it will never be the same. Bruno's is dead. R.I.P.

I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical when I heard that Bruno's was being
remodeled. I loved the old Bruno's, but the new version has taken it to a new level. The
menu is bar food (burgers, wings) but the quality is good and the prices ridiculously cheap. The
fireplace is a welcome addition as I used to freeze to death in the old Bruno's. I don't know
who did the artwork but it is really interesting (although I'm not sure about the frozen Barbie
doll painting). Overall, I'm glad they are finally open and that the live music has returned.

I was surprised to read a negative review of Bruno's since the remodel - I never got the chance to go before they closed for renovations but I kept hearing that Brunos was one of the greatest Mission hang-outs, so when they reopened I had to swing by and check it out.

This place is great! It feels like a swank lounge from another era but the casual atmoshpere and easy-going crowd makes it completely unpretentious. Whoever designed the lighting and seating arrangements deserves a gold star (if you like people watching, don't miss this place) and the DJ was great both times that I've been.

I was impressed with the creativity of the drinks (the Mango Mojito is to die for), and I'm yet to try one that is too sweet (which is such a turn-off when you just want a solid cocktail) although the peach bellini was somewhat lacking in flavor, every other drink I tried was unique and delicious.

The food menu is creative and I'm anxious to go back so I can try everything on it! The service has been a toss up in terms of speed but the staff is always friendly. Overall, Bruno's has a relaxed but energetic vibe that is perfect for an after work drink or kicking off a night of partying. It's also a great spot to take friends from out of town. Get there early on the weekends, though - they start charging cover at 10 and it fills up quickly.

Pros: Amazing Atmosphere and Cocktails

Cons: Occasionally slow service

Bruno's used to be one our favorite places in the Mission. Unfortunately, it seems to have gone majorly downhill since its renovation. We couldn't have been more disappointed. The only saving grace is that the jazz room appears to be intact. Gone are the fabulous plush booths and tasty menu - now it's wood paneling, troll dolls on the walls and a menu comprised largely of bar food. Worst is that the cocktails - and service - are both mediocre. With so many other wonderful options in the Mission, we won't return to Bruno's.

Pros: Location

Cons: Everything else

First of all, the service was pretty bad. It took forever to get our first cocktails, we had to keep asking for things like silverware, they never even asked us if we wanted a second drink, and the food was pretty forgettable- I would recommend the hamburger & fries, but otherwise not at all impressed.

I wouldn't bother going back.

Going to Tapas seems to be the way restaurant owners line their pockets these days. Bruno's is no exception. When we asked for bread for the table, we were given the "option" to purchase their $6 cornbread "small plate" which consisted of three very small squares of bread. Could you spare a square??

In the end, our bill for 5 people ended up being $206. In San Francisco, this is a travesty.

I wish Bruno's still had their old menu. The service is great, and the atmosphere is very cool. Why did they have to go the "tapas route"?????

My wife and I consider ourselves to be conniseurs (sp?) of fine food and wine. These are, after all, the comforts we feel we deserve having led a full life with careers in the real estate industry, and children on Wall Street. Last weekend we made our way down to the Mission to see for ourselves what Brunos' new menu was all about. We started at the bar where our competent and outgoing bartender whet our appetite with cucumber gimlets and spiced fries. When we sat down to eat, I couldn't believe the eager friendliness of our server. She was so attentive. The food wasd to die for. Try the Hangar steak, seriously. If you are ever in the mission, you can't skip a trip to Bruno's. We didn't stay for the music this time purposefully so we could go back another night. Sincerely.

The decor is 70's, the food is Southern tapas, and the music is groovy. Their trademark drink is the Sidecar (try it out) which is deceptively smooth...so watch out!

I went this last sat with a large group of friends and was hella surprised at everything. I started with the Cucumber gimlet which wouldn't be a drink that I'd watch football to(Go Pat's!!) but was excellent and tasted so fresh that I kept wondered if there was a garden in the kitchen(the waitress said there wasn't). Speaking of waitress my server was Natalie and she was the bomb diggity. She explained at length about her preferences with all the dishes and she was spot-on. Everyone loved the food but my personal fave was the lollipop chicken. Watch out Hooters!! was all I kept saying all nite and haven't actually stopped(much to my girlfriends dismay). The food was so good and the music was great, Jazz is most defintely not dead while Mitch Marcus is around. I'd suggest Bruno's to everyone this might be the best Bruno's yet!!

The changes made to Bruno's were definately good. It is a great place to go with a large group of people and have drinks and some really deliciouse food before a show. My friends and I had such a great time and the service was great. It would also be a very romantic place for a date.

Pros: Good Food, Cool Space, No cover for diners

We had reservations for 12 people and they seated us on time. Hostess and waitress were pleasant. Ordered just about everything on the menu. Catfish sticks, biscuit burgers, dumplings, fries and curry, hangar steak, mac-n-cheese and then some. Nothing really exceptional. A little pricier than expected for the small dishes - but not outrageous. Service was definitely attentive and the music afterward was nice. Would go again for drinks and music - but probably not for dinner.

Brunos is a fun place with yummy biscuit burgers and pecan pie that you can share with friends. Their small plates are perfect for privat events in the lounge that has a huge fish tank and their green room is ideal for casual events. It also has live music everynight and diners can get a free pass for cork club and enjoy a night out in one place.

I have been a long time patron of Bruno's. I love the new menu and the remodeling. Although some of those cozy booths have gone, the mood is upbeat and the remodeling really makes for a loung-y feel. Everything was just great the night we went in -- the food was awesome, especially the short ribs and the staff was friendly. I hope this Bruno's sticks!

When you walk into Bruno's you step back in time to how going out used to be. This mean's a relaxed comfortable, yet swanky setting, attentive service, and excellent food. The newish menu includes louisiana style small plates that get better with every bite. Both the duck and shortribs will warm you up on a cold night, and the pot de creme will satisfy the biggest chocoholics hankering.

I'm reluctant to post this as it's still a secret, but what the hell. Monday nights at Bruno's is one of the coolest nights out in the city. First there's a DJ spinning great punk/Soul/R&B then there's a Jazz Quintet, then there's like this open Jazz Jam session. Best of all no one seems to know about it, so it's still super mellow. Go, get a fancy drink for cheap, sit in a big white leather booth beneath the fish tank, chill.

$19.95 two-course menu along with unlimited wine every Mon-Fri is a steal. Food is terrific, music is great. Love the fried Calamari. The grilled tuna special over a bed of potato salad and Putanesca sauce is to die for. The old fashioned Ciopino is tasty and hearthy. They are pleasantly roomy, darkish and romantic. Overall, it's a great place to wine and dine with your date or to hang out with your friends.

Every time I've been to Bruno's I have had a good meal. I think they may have had a rocky start when they reopened the kitchen but I find the food to be great every time I go. I haven't gone for the 29.95 3 course meal, just straight off the menu. I'm just glad it's in my hood.

Bruno's is under new management in the last year and believe me, IT SHOWS! Bruno's, while still maintaining very good food, HAS THE MOST PATHETIC STAFF...INCLUDING MANAGEMENT AND WAITORS/WAITRESSES. SO SLOW...SO AMBIVALENT TO SPEEDY, PROMPT SERVICE. It took us 2 hours to get seated EVEN THOUGH WE HAD RESERVATIONS FOR A MONTH. Then, when we were seated, no acknowledgement from the wait staff for 20 minutes PLUS! It was unbelievable. Then, it took 3 hours to get through all of the courses...they were just that slow. Then they had the audacity to add 18% gratuity for our party of 7. When the French Girlie Manager was questioned about this, she seemed to care less...but when we threatened to walk out AND NOT PAY THE BILL, then she cared.

Bruno's WAS a great place...now it is just a place.....dont bother.

Booth seating, kinda funky atmosphere, so far so good. But service is bad since they take forever to get you drinks, and later the same applies for food. And food - pasta and not the best quality - choices are good either... I heard that musc was good - but that's not really the restaurant's part.

This place was really hyped up and you do see alot of people going in. It must be for the cocktails because as a resturant you have to wonder how they stay in buisness. The food was disgusting and we all felt rather sick the entire eveing afterwards. I must say the waiter was quite nice, but it is after all a resturant. I would rather stay home and eat canned soup than go back..

Bruno's recently started offering its $29.95 dinner special and its easily one of the best things going in the Mission or anywhere else in San Francisco. Sure, it's a marketing tactic to get people in on off-nights, but my guests and I were amazed at how fresh and tasty all of our dishes were.
