The best all vegetarian restaurant in the mission by far. Tons of vegetarian sushi and noodles. The restaurant is tiny and the lights are very bright, but the food is delicious

There are never enough good vegetarian restaurants to suit me so I was delighted to discovered Cha Ya Japanese. Almost everything on the menu is delicious and worth trying so try to come with a few people so you can order lots of items and share everything. You won't be disappointed!!

I had such an amazing time last time I went to Cha-ya. It is a busy location, but the food is great and reasonably priced. I couldn't have asked for anything better.

I love this place. I've been to both restaurants. Berkeley's is nicer, but with fewer tables. Food is very creative, delicious, fresh, and ALL vegetarian! for a vege this is really really fun. Usually I have one or 2 choices on any menu. Here, I want to try everything. I've liked nearly everything I"ve had. The crispy fried vegetables on the appetizer menu were very bland. But everything else, various sushi rolls, soups, edamame, greens, etc, was delicious.

I have eaten at the Berkeley location for many years, which is more cozy and has better ambiance but the food here cannot be beat! I am so happy at last not to be left out of eating Japanese food because I am vegetarian. (I don't even like

Pros: Artfully prepared satisfying dishes

Cons: Cafeteria style sterile white walls, bright lighting

I just started veganism about a month or two back, came back from college, and heard of this amazing restaurant. I've lived in the Mission my entire life and can't believe I haven't eaten here before!!\r
The food was fresh, rich in flavor,

Vegetarians who are tired of ordering kappa maki will be *thrilled* by Cha-ya. The dishes are both simple and sublime; the presentation excellent. I dream about their tenpura udon on chilly nights ^_^

Pros: the best vegan Japanese ANYWHERE (except for their Berkeley location ^^)

Cons: parking in the Mission is always bad; decor is a bit bleak

This place is Japanese food heaven for vegetarians. The staff is super friendly and do a good job. The only downside is that the ambience could be better, the lighting is too bright and they don't play any music. Worth going for the food
