This restaurant is simply fantastic. it only takes one trip to get hooked. my first taste of this place was when i ordered the Morenita burger which was cooked perfectly, and tasted fantastic. The rosemary fries that were served with it were simply perfect. The price is fair and the food was eclectically delicious

Okay I've read all the reviews but, being a women with my own opinion, I went to see for myself. I have the Babas for my "small Plate" I loved, loved, loved them! They were perfectly seasoned lamb chops. And had the halibut for my main entree. It was absolutley wonderful! I wanted to have a slice of the yummy looking chocolate cake but I didn't have the room. NEXT TIME!! The service was good but nothing compared to the food. My oppinion it was worth the drive! Judy

Pros: Food was worth the drive!

Cons: The bathroom. It is for both sexes. Not sure if I like that. But as long as you lock the door.

First, employee reviews of this restaurant don't count! The food is yucky- my grade b ahi tuna was rolled in seasoning salt to mask the pungent fish smell. I wasn't the only person to notice the food was over salted. Some other people were dumb enough to try this place like myself and I heard complaints about the food being over salted. The menu is very limited and pricey. Save your $$$ and go somewhere that is reputable and actually serves good food. This place is a total, wannabe hip restaurant. I think it's also pathetic that employees / owners of this restaurant are posting rave reviews about the food and service. If you are brave enough to try this place don't eat the shrimp cocktail unless you want to be vomitting all over the place the next day.

Pros: The place was empty!!

Cons: Being sick the next day from eating here.

Wow! This place totally blew me away. It had everything- fantastic service, cool atmosphere, great prices, and excellent food! I had the cajun seared ahi appetizer and the panko encrusted halibut for my entree. To my surprise (I say this because I've never heard of this place and I really wasn't expecting much), both were perfectly executed.

'will definitely return!

Hmmm... sound like the review below was written by someone who works at this place. The food and service are both poor here. It's a good thing most start up restuarants fail because it weeds out the bad ones. For the price of this place, you could go to a way better place- maybe it's cool if you are buying carpet or tile in the area... Yuck.....

I absolutely love Lot 81. The food is phenominal especially the Ahi-Tuna sandwhich. The waitresses are so laid-back and easy to talk to (especially the pretty one Chrissy). Anything you need just ask and they will accomedate you, I have personally had the restaurant closed twice for personal parties and each time I asked I did not have to ask again. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant.

I've read many users reviews for this place as being positive. I am a very fair, easy to please person when I go out and I had a really bad experience at this restaurant. First, when my girlfriend and I walked in for dinner, the staff looked at us strangely like they were shocked to see customers. I ordered the seared ahi which was way over-salted. It tasted like it was rolled around in seasoning salt. My girlfriend ordered the shrimp cocktail and ate a couple and knew something was wrong with it- the shrimp were old and smelt funny. Sure enough, the next day my girlfriend was sick all day with food sickness and vomitting. I went back to Lot 81 the next day and told them this and they were in denial. They put me on the phone with the chef- he was very rude and handled the situation unprofessionally- insisted it couldn't have been his food. I demanded my money back and after haggling with me, they finally refunded a portion of my meal. I've never had to put a restuarant in this position before but just felt like I had wasted money here. My best advice- if you are thinking about eating here, DO NOT! There are several way better restuarants in San Diego that won't get you sick. I get the feeling Lot 81 cuts corners with their food preparation to save money. This place always looks dead- I give it 6 more months before it's out of business. Also, when I was there, the people at the table next to me were complaining about their food being over-salted- clealy we weren't the only people who had a bad experience that night. Finally, this place is gimicky- it decorated as if it's some hip place trying to be modern but trying too hard to be something it's not.

Pros: Seemed like a cool place at first glance.

Cons: The shrimp made my girlfriend sick and vomitting all day.

Cons: Parking can be tricky

This place may be in a weird area but the food was fantastic. The service was outstanding, although our waitress has several memory lapses and had to confirm our order several times. The food tastes great! Especially the seared ahi tuna and their Spinach and arrugula salad! The place itself is small, which is good for intimacy. The bar is nice. There's an outdoor patio as well. Since there's not much around that area, parking is plenty. I would recommend this place to my friends.
