Today we went to bury the remains of an 18 yo. who died in a traffic accident a few weeks ago. His grandmother was unable to afford the over $1400 pricetag that Sac Memorial Lawn charges for cremation so we went to another provider (half the cost with great service). We were going to have this boy's ashes placed in a grave with his uncle. Vicki the Sac Memorial rep. hounded his grandmother for the money to bury him there as well as for a high priced marker. She was more into selling than serving. On the day of the burial, a very agitated cemetery "supervisor appeared and in no uncertain terms told us he was not going to bury the ashes because he did not have a burial permit. Apparently with almost 3 weeks notice of this scheduled event, Vicki and others did not have the time to be sure a burial permit was acquired. Grief stricken family were forced to abandon the burial and just have a little time together before leaving with the ashes again. The supervisor did not in any way offer to help us so we could have the burial there while the family was in attendance. Vicki and her cohorts are the burial "professionals" and they let this family down by not being sure the proper paperwork was in their possession prior to the scheduled service. Was it too much to ask for them to call this grieving family a few days in advance to be sure they had the burial permit in their office? I won't ever forget the horrible treatment this boy's grandmother received there nor will I forget how hurt she was afterward. This should have been a day for closure and all Sacramento Memorial Lawn Cemetery did was slash open wounds that hadn't even had time to start healing. Shame on you Sacramento Memorial Lawn Cemetery. If you're angry we didn't use your cremation services that were twice what we paid elsewhere, please find another way to vent your anger....not on old ladies grieving the sudden loss of their grandsons! Don't use these monsters!
