Here you'll find a church with a diverse congregation, driven towards social justice, and dedicated to seeing all who attend supported no matter what their journey in life has been. I've attended for the past 5 years and I've become a generous person, happier wife, and better daughter/sister because of the love and life lessons exemplified here.

After having spent several years of my life as a drug user (to the point of homelessness), and surviving an abusive marriage I was weary about finding a church that would accept me for who I've been and who I was becoming (not your cookie cutter Christian).

My first time at Oasis was a little overwhelming (wasn't used to rocking out to Christian music), but I knew there was something about the vibe that intrigued me, and the messages were filled with truth and clarity that related to my life.

I've been attending the Oasis for almost six years now, and am happy to call it home. Oasis is more than a church to me, it's a light in this dark town, it's my family, and it's inspiration to live a life more fulfilling.

This year alone, the Oasis has sponsored 21 wells in Africa, over 400 children with Food for the Hungry, built houses with Habitat for Humanity, brought Christmas to over 2,000 children in Watoto, and tons of other local and global initiatives.

If you want to make a difference in the world, and a difference in your life, check out the Oasis.

And here's the website for anyone looking to find out more: www.oasisla.org

Before I leave you, a few tips:

Give your self time to park, you don't want to miss the rocking worship.
Dress is casual, jeans and a mohawk are welcome.
Meet somebody. It's a big place, but people are friendly, so don't be shy!

It was so nice to find such a great church in the middle of Los Angeles. A city that tends to get a bad reputation at times due to the lure of Hollywood. I saw so many young people at this church volunteering and having fun. Service was wonderful and the message was actually practical though preached from the bible. I can't handle churches that just use the bible but don't reach out to the people and reall issues that we all struggle with. So it was a great combination. I stayed for an event after in their cafe it and got to meet a few of them. It was not flashy nor snobby and I felt like I could really call this place home.

I came here on a recommendation from a friend and to be honest, I haven't missed a Sunday since! It's a great church that has a friendly and inviting atmosphere. Some other reviewer(s) have said that it's big, bright and over the top. With that, I have to agree on. It's definitely not the church your parents raised you in. This is a church that takes a look at the difficult issues and hits them head on instead of sweeping them under the rug like every other church I've been to. They talk openly about homosexuality and where they stand. They talk openly about drug addiction and how to seek help. They talk openly about abortion or prostitution or porn addiction and instead of judging, they try to find the means to seek help.

Over all, it's just a great family atmosphere. The first 20 minutes is worship (singing) and then that last 45 minutes to an hour is Pastor Phillip or his wife Holly giving their service. It's a church FULL of young people which is great cause it's getting them back into church and gives everyone activities to stay involved.

I don't have anything negative to say about this place. It's been great. I've been going to church since I can remember and never once have I met anyone there outside of a casual handshake. Here, I've been at it for 6 months now and I've already got a handful of friends that I hang out with on a regular basis.

Anyone in town looking for a good non-denominational Christian church to attend, look no further. Give this place a couple to visits and you'll be hooked. I say a couple being the first visit might be overwhelming. After you get the hang of it, you won't go back to anything else...

I checked out the Oasis a little over a year ago, and haven't missed a Sunday since. Very welcoming, casual, and fun church.

Read a couple reviews on line that made me a bit nervous, but I had a COMPLETELY different experience. This place is not a cult and nobody has stolen my money. I have met the pastors, and they seem really nice.

I really like how this church is globally minded. They do work in Guatemala and Africa, and have a project that builds water wells in Africa.

Good churches can be hard to find in LA. I suggest you check them out. They have a website with info on services and programs - www.oasisla.org .

This is amazing place.Great pastor Phillip and his wife Holy run this church. They talking about faith, relationships, family...It has an great choir.A lot of people of different ages go there. The parking lot is very convinient. You just leave your car at one of the closest parking lots and church bus picks you up and bring you to the church and back.

My husband and I have been going to Oasis for almost 4 years and absolutely love it! Oasis is unlike any other church I have been to, because it is a genuine place that takes you just as you are, no matter what you are dealing with in life, and let's God change you...not the people in the church! You can dress casually and not feel that you have to look or act a certain way...just be you.

Many times when you go to a church it is an older crowd, but not here. Though there are newborns to senior citizens, the majority is 20's and 30's and we have made our best of friends here! I like that fact that it is not traditional, it focuses on your relationship with Jesus, rather than church rituals, etc. The messages are relevant and life-changing! The praise and worship is amazing and heart-felt!

You can use your talents here and serve God at the same time! There is a dance team, choir, video, editing, children's ministry, and the list goes on.

Oasis focuses on helping others and changing lives in our community and around the world. My hubby and I have been to Guatemala and Africa with Oasis and it has been absolutely LIFE-CHANGING! I am soo grateful for all that Oasis has done to help us grow in our faith. Hope to see you there :)

I'm not going to bash the church as it does some good in the neighborhood. I also have friends who attend and feel very satisfied, spiritually.

It's just not for me.

I've been there 2 times. Once a visiting Pastor spoke in tongues, which is something I am not into.

The first time I went, the music lasted 40 plus minutes with us having to stand the entire time. Just too much for me.

Also, one of their brochures featured a woman with her back towards us, looking over her shoulder, sporting TIGHT BLACK leather pants. That's not what a church should portray IMO.

But my suggestion is that if you are looking for a non-denominational church, give it a try and see if it is your cup of tea.

I am a huge fan of Joel Osteen, so I went here based on his endorsement. I was expecting the service to be similar to what I see televised from Lakewood Church in Houston. Much to my surprise it was far from that. The music was so loud and it was more of a "production" than a service. It was too loud and there was a lame dance number. I thought this was a joke and they were filming a reality show. I thought the sermon would make up for it, but the message was geared toward "men" and how their roles should be in the church. Ok so what about us women? We should just listen for the voice of God and keep faith. Then, there was a guy next to me that kept responding "yup yup" out loud to what the pastor was saying, it was annoying. I went here on Easter Sunday and I felt like it was a huge waste of time.

My husband and I moved to Los Angeles a few years ago and spent our first year here pretty lonely. When we found Oasis, things changed. We got involved and have made some of the best friends we've ever had. We love Oasis for the message it brings about God and all that He is, for the outreach to people on our planet - which is so important to us, for the awesome music and creativity, for the high quality in everything our church does and the heart with which it's all done, for the people we get to now do life with... and the change we see in ourselves. If you live in LA and are looking for a non-denominational church with all of the above, come check out Oasis!

I really liked when I walked into Oasis Church that everybody was really friendly, greeted me and even offered me good coffee. When I went into the worship service they made me feel welcome, and the music was awesome! The message was great, and just the overall experience was excellent! If you are looking for a Church - this is it!

I've been attending for 3 years and I must stay this is the most well rounded, biblically based church I have ever attended. They preach the Word of God, the music is awesome and very relevant, and the diversity is awesome. I love being here. As with anything in life, if you are willing to do your part and get involved, the return you'll get in community, life and a relationship with Christ is gonna be well worth it. : )

Oasis has been my church home for over 2 years and I felt like I was connected from the first time I came. I always feel like my clothes aren't the trendiest or that my hair isn't super cute, but I know it doesn't matter.

The teachings are relevant, timely and most of all REAL! I love that they offer classes and connect groups outside of Sundays.

Give it a try, if nothing else you'll get your groove on!

First of all, I am a Christian.

I think the Oasis tries hard but like most large churches, it has grown into a closed system. IMO, it stays closed so that it can protect itself from outsiders giving an assessment or asking questions. Unlike Christ, who would interact with anyone and had an answer for those who questioned Him, this church won't talk to those who do not adhere to all its principles. I know this because I have attempted to interact with the pastors and leaders there and they will not interact with me.

The other thing I dislike about The Oasis is that the Bible says that we Christians are "in the world but not of the world." Nevertheless, Oasis is one of the most trend-loving, worldly, entertainment-industry-imitating churches in L.A.! From the fashionistas who greet you to the music that employs all the electronics money can buy to the selling of water in plastic bottles (which pollute the environment enormously) to the design of services so that the platforms looks like the hottest movie set. If you are looking for the vapidness and lack of reality that characterizes so many parts of trendy L.A., then come to The Oasis.

I also feel the pastors started out with a good plan and started out being in touch with real life in the city, but as they grew more wealthy and more pumped up by the pastor clique they inhabit they have lost touch with real hurting people.

They say they think church should be "fun." But you know what? "Fun" will not mend the brokenhearted. Fun will not help the lost focus. Fun will not confront the cheater of his dishonesty or the neglectful of her duties to mankind. All the "fun" seems silly after a while----silly and irrelevant. And quite frankly, since the Wagners are old enough now to be parents to many of the young adults who flock to the church, how does all this "fun" teach these young adults how to cope with all the ills, trials and perils of adult life? Where is the mentoring that one would expect from two leaders old enough to mentor? To the contrary, I get the impression that the Wagners are seeking to be peers with the young, not mentors.

One more thing---I heard of a troublesome event happening at the church---nothing major, just the usual church politics. One of the leaders blamed the trouble on Satan. They used the old "Satan did it" cop out. No one would take responsibility for the trouble--no one would step up and say "I made a mistake." Instead they blamed it on Satan.

That's all we need. One more church that won't step up and examine itself.

Cons: If you're over age 35 you'll feel like an oddity

After having spent several years of my life as a user (to the point of homelessness), and surviving an abusive marriage I was weary about finding a church that would accept me for who I've been and who I was becoming (not your cookie cutter Christian). Also, I was weary of a "religious" place that wanted me for my money (or lack there of).

Oasis is more than a church to me, it's a light in this dark town, and it's inspiration to live a life more fulfilling.

And, they've got the evidence to prove it (church members went themselves!) Also, all the videos are done by volunteers, not high paid professionals (although most work in the industry...we do live in LA).

For the people weary of tithing or giving an offering, the Oasis has repeatedly said, "God loves a cheerful giver," key word, "cheerful." So if you feel you are being pressured, don't give. It may take more than one Sunday to figure this out.

If you want to make a difference in the world, and a difference in your life, check out the Oasis.

Before I leave you, a few tips:

Give your self time to park, you don't want to miss the rocking worship.
Dress is casual, jeans and a mohawk are welcome.
Meet somebody. It's a big place, but people are friendly, so don't be shy!
It may not be your "thing," so keep looking.

A member of my family joined this church a few years ago. I come from a born-again background so I fully understand what those types of churches ask of their followers, in fact I use to be very much into that belief system myself. What's really thrown me is seeing my family member go from a normal loving person to someone who is now disassociated with me because I don't see eye to eye with their beliefs. Many things this person has said have caught me off-guard, however when they told me a fellow church goer was making them dinners because my family member was working such long hours, that was the most major red flag. They work normal hours 9-6ish mon-fri. I'm all about helping out those in need...but to make a newly-wed couple(yes, after joining this church they decided to get married in their early 20's) dinners because they are 'stressed from working normal hours' is just too strange. There are plenty of needy people out there, but people who get paid well for working normal hours and are healthy are not in need.

It's disheartening to see so many negative reviews of this church. I am in no way a "church person" but if I decide I would like some Christian spirituality in my life I come here. The pastors are always interesting as are their guest speakers. The staff is very friendly. The few times I attended they collected donations at the beginning of the service which I liked as it got the "business" out of the way. And, yes, running a church is a business - they have to make money somewhere as all churches do. The band and choir are excellent and really make you feel as you are giving praise. I will attend this church in the next few weeks and retract my comments if the place has changed. I hope not...

Pros: Friendly Pastors, Friendly Staff, Not Pushy

Cons: Parking

I don't know WHAT people are talking about when they say this is a cult. I travel around the country and this is not my home church but I have been popping into this church every once in awhile for the past 10 years--first of all, it is VERY accepting of others and the offerings are voluntary and they rarely even PREACH on tithing or giving--it is totally voluntary. Extra-marital affairs? I doubt it. where do you guys come up with this stuff. If you want to see a cult go check out LA church of Christ--hip and creepy all right and once you go once there , they'll never let you go--THAT is a cult. Oasis is cool and hip and if anything Christianity "light" -- it is a little too mellow and not too deep--so it is for the beginning or intermediate Christian but if you want a deep teaching with prophecy or a heavy faith message--this church is too mellow for that. Still recommend it for being non-offensive and great for new Christians--if you want a mellow and light hearted (with world and community focus) come to this church.

Pros: lots of services, wear jeans, user friendly

Cons: Sunday night is too mellow, message is by staff, not pastors.

I love the Oasis. The people are friendly and the atmosphere is very inviting. They are extremely creative and and I enjoy the worship.

I went their a few years ago because I heard this amazing guy singing there. When I moved back, I was excited to check it out again. WOW this place is beyond creepy! I've never seen more brain washed people in my life. The music was bad and everything about the place was over the top like I was sitting in an infomercial and ALL about money. I have been to a lot of churches and been a Christian pretty much my whole life. I've heard some bad things about this place, but just discounted it. Big mistake! Trust me this place has no business being called a church!

Ok so i am not against going to church or anything, but this was by far the creepiest most brain washed church i have ever seen. i visited with a friend (whom i no longer assosciate with because of how brainwashed she was by this place) for easter service, . they showed us this video of how people discovered the church because of their problems, from drinking, to abuse, to ftaher relationships...etc. but then they had this gay guy who was so gay it was obvious he was gay!!! so he talks about how when he was young he was jealous of his schools football players for their bodys and hairstyles, and then he said hi jealousy turned into lust and he then had to deal with partaking in homosexuality. he was tampering with it! then he goes on to say how he found the oasis and they saved him and now he likes women !!!! it was soooooooo sooooo creepy. iam not gay but i am smart enough to know how creepy this was. also they sell this water that they say goes to the wells in africa, but let me tell you, i think that money is going into these high budget concert performances, stage performances, short films, advertisements etc, ..... ultimatly this is no church. it is a place that vacuums up people and scams them into donating loads of money for "wells"..... i was so creeped out by this place i could not take it. DO NOT GO HERE! GO TO YOUR NORMAL COMMUNITY CHURCH AND NOT THIS PLACE! IT IS NOT EVEN IN A CHURCH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I felt like i was at universal studios on the terminator ride, and the church is like the syodine company that is trying to control people and i feel like the guy who is trying to tell everyone the truth. i am not some lunatic, i am a normal guy who knows whats right and whats wrong, and this place is WRONG!!!

I love this church! Everyone was so friendly, and the music was great! People and leaders seemed genuine and excited to be at church! When I got there, volunteers made me feel welcome and even served me coffee! The message was relevant to what was going on in my life. I had a great time and met cool people!

My husband and I searched for over a year for a church. We could never find somewhere we felt comfortable until we walked into the Oasis. A friend invited us to one of their events and we were there the next Sunday. The congregation is young, hip and real! The Pastor's are transparent and lead their life's as examples. We finally felt at home..........many years later............we're still attending and now our kids enjoy their children's ministry. I love being at a church where I don't feel like I have to pretent to be something I'm not and in Los Angeles...................that isn't always the case! I hope you can visit one day!

Pros: teachings, people, music, small groups and the many friends you'll make

.

I moved here a year ago, and have been attending the Oasis since. Tried out a couple other churches, but this was my favorite. The music is great, the teaching makes sense and the people here are super friendly! You walk in and they serve you refreshments, and the pastors actually hangout in the lobby and are really approachable. The venue is pretty cool too, it's in an old theatre. Doesn't feel churchy at all!

It's also really diverse, which I love! People from all cultures, races, backgrounds, ages, etc. They have cool missions programs, including a water program where you can buy water and help build wells in Africa. It's also a great place to meet people, and they make it easy to get involved.

Pros: Service is under 90 minutes, red mango across the street, cool atmosphere, friendly people

Cons: ???

This place is a CULT and the "Pastors" (for lack of a better word) are known to have extra-marital affairs, steal money from the church and left many members broken.
