The plummers came out ran an auger through our toilet and all they wanted to do was sell us a new 800 dollar toilet they would have charged us 300 dollars to loosen two bolts and pull up the toilet, we saved the money and pulled it up

Do not call these guys. Biggest up sell rip off. I needed a simple drain clean out from my laundry room. They showed up and immediately started with the up sell to install a mainline clean out access for a coast of $1,200 to $1,500!

The only good thing I have to say is that they were punctual. The plumber was arrogant with a "know it all" attitude. He was not able to fix the problem....slow flowing toilet....with a snake. The only other other method he would try

I listened to the TV commercial and had a plumbing problem in three bathrooms. I called Mike Diamond plumbing adn to my amazement they told me they woudl have someome in my home within the hour. Pleasant surprise. When I saw the guy I knew I was in trouble. He weight about 300 pounds could hardly walk up the walkway. Before he came in he mentioned that a houscall was $75. i thought he will do some, at least some work so I said OK. He then proceeded to look at the issues in the bathroom. Instead of replacing the rubber seals and fixing the leaking water valve, he gave me an estimate of $3,600 to replace three toilets completely, absolutely unnecessary. (A toilet costs about $85 at Home Depot). I told him that he as out of his mind and he said 'fine,.. thats $75'.... THAT IS ALL HE WANTED INT HE FIRST PLACE.. Rediculous estimate, no work done, cheating people out of money. THESE GUYS ARE CROOKS!

These guys are pure cons artists rather then plumbers. They advertise heavilly on the radio that they will "clear any drain for $99.00" While I was on a business trip my wife called with a stopped up toilet. This happens from time to time and we have a router service come out and clear it. No big deal. I had heard their ads and told her to try them this time. A guy comes out and hits her with a $2,400.00 quote to put in a new Clean Out, etc. I spoke with him on the phone and told him to just clear the drain from the clean out in the house using a power router. He refused to even attempt to route out any drain. Said they don't do any work from inside the house because of the mess. Huh? I told my wife to refuse to sign anything and throw him off the property. Called Router Rooter instead and they routed all the drains and replaced the wax rings under the toilets for about $350 and everything worked fine again in a couple hours. Mike Diamond plumbers are just hustlers. Stay away!!

I called the 'smell good' plumbers yesterday to clear a clog in the main line to the sewer. Every 3 years or so the line gets slow and my sinks back up a little, so I know the drill. Mike Diamond said they'd send someone out last night within the hour, but they called back a half hour later and said the tech was not going to come till this morning. No big deal.

When he got here today and I explained the problem he said he needed to go under the house to find the drain line. The he called his boss to figure out what to do. When he came back in from the truck he said that there's 'no way' to clear the main line without installing a clean out valve for $2600.

When I told him that I've had the service done by another plumber every three years for about $120. He said that they wouldn't do it because it's "too dangerous" or "too messy." Of course, I said, "no thanks."

After he left I couldn't find my 4 month old cat. Come to find out, he'd left the trap door to the crawl space open and the cat had crawled under the house. Where she still sits now 7 hours later, scared and mewing. I now have someone else coming over to cut open the foundation vents to get her out.

The plumber smelled just fine, but I think he was fibbing about not being able to do the job. Three other plumbers had done it before him and without any complaints. I'd never call them again for anything. I hope you don't either.

My shower drain was blocked. I new their name from radio advertising. Their advertising is all about the smell good plumber, but their work smell like they are out there to rip you off. They showed up and clean my shower drain in the 2nd floor and they broke the drain pip and ruined my ceiling on the first floor and my furniture. They said it will cost $1100 to fix the drain pipe but, since we cause the leak will are willing to charge you only $770.00. They broke the drain pip and didn't want to fix it, I talk to a person at their main office his name was Amir he said do what ever you want to do we have lawyers. I had someone else fix the drain pip for $75.00. Now it's going to cost me good amount of money to fix the ceiling and furniture. Don't trust these people they smell like CROOKES.

we called for a simple drain blockage under their $99 special. they wanted $700-1400 to break everything apart, clear the blockage, and put it back together. NO WAY. A COMPETENT service came a couple of hours later and did the job correctly for more than $99, but a lot less than $700 with a 30 day guarantee. Call a pro, NOT MIKE DIAMOND or GEORGE BRAZIL.

I had a VERY similar experience to "altadena" yesterday. We had a Mainline blockage in our new home (9mos) so we called out Mike Diamond to unclog it. The plumber ran a 75' snake (with no blade) and could not initially unclog it. He ran a camera and sure enough, roots. He gave me the pitch that the ONLY way to really take care of the problem was HydroJetting it and it would cost me... get this... $2000!!!!! I am totally convinced that when the Plumber saw our nice big house that he saw dollar signs and immediately flipped to the "premium" section of his pricing book.

Fortunately, I saw altadena's post here on CitySearch while he was here and instantly know I was getting scammed. He finally did punch a small hole in the roots (so water could drain)... but he only attempted 1 time to put any kind of blade into the line (a hook) and then backed off saying that he could not put any blades in the line because the roots would tangle the line. Then he packed up and left with a warning that I needed to get the HyrdoJetting done as this would clog again soon. The cost... $350. $99 for the cleaning, and $250 for the camera. Once he left I immediately called Roto-Rooter and they were 100% straight forward and PROPERLY cleaned out the roots with (as I knew was needed) a "C" blade on the end of the snake. The even used a camera (for free) and my cost for them to PROPERLY fix it was only $195. He even told me that in his 15 years of experience he had only seen 4-5 cases where HyrdoJetting was even needed. Just for laughs I asked him what they charge for HydroJetting... $500. I will NEVER use Mike Diamond EVER again. Shady Bastards.

I had an emergency leak in my house over the weekend and the only person who could come was Mike Diamond. The only repair required was to replace 2 ft segment of copper pipe. I had out of town guest coming over and needed a quick fix.

He said it would cost 630 dollars - I had no other choice; and he knew it.

The fix took 1/2 hour. Comes out to $1260 an hour for labor. By far the biggest rip off in my life. I still can't believe I spent that much money - I really feel like an idiot.

Please don't make the same mistake I did. I should have read the other reviews.

Diamond's so-called 'technician came to fix a gas leak. Cut and capped a line to stop the leak while allowing other appliances to work. When gas company came to turn on service we discovered they had cut and capped the wrong line and left an open gas supply line - gas was whooshing out. For this they charged $500. We got local plumber who did the job correctly for $125

called at 8:30pm on a Monday evening and the plumber was there about an hour later (after hours fee of $160 applies)

A simple snaking would have taken care of the problem - plumber claimed the blockage wasn't where we had diagnosed it and then claimed all the other cleanouts on the property were too small for him to access - almost in the same breath offered to install a larger cleanout for $2200, not including city permit.

Instructed him to access sewer line from a capped toilet line in the floor of a garage - he refused as it was 'inside' a house and finished by stating they could install a new cleanout for $2200 excluding city permit of about $100...

Tired of the 'script' I send him on his way and I'll rent a snake from Home Depot for $50 and do it with my handyman tomorrow.

$160 seems expensive for this kind of lesson, but I won't make this mistake again.

I called Mike Diamond plumbing and they said they could come out the same day which was good, but that's where the good ends. My plumbing wasn't backed up, just running slow and I knew what was causing this....tree roots. About every 5 years or so I need to have the line cleaned out to the main sewer line because my historical home has clay sewer pipes that have a few cracks (10 years ago I had a plumber put a camera down the line) so the trees in my yard start to slow the system down. When the tech showed up 40 minutes late, I told him that I wanted the $99.00 clean-out. I showed him exactly where the line was and where it turned to the street and where it meets up with the county main line. He told me that he only has 100 feet of snake so it would only go 1/2 way from the clean-out in the yard next to the bathroom to the middle of my yard. I knew this was BS because I have measured it out before. He said I would need the pressure clean-out method which has 4000 psi and would cut the roots right out.......FOR $750.00. After laughing a little bit, I told him just to do the job and he said that I should do the pressure clean-out or not do the job at all. I asked him 2 more times where the 100 foot snake would go and he walked me 1/2 way out to my yard and said there is no way it would go farther than that. I had him to walk the path of the line with me one foot in front of the other, and guess what? The entire length of the line out to the center of the street where the county main line meets is.....ta da, 98 feet. I told him to just do the job. Once the snake came out, there were at least 5 pounds of roots and it was a bundle as large as the stings on a large mop. I am glad I knew what I was talking about when I called this company to come out.........the $99.00 is a great price, but I am sure glad that I am not a vulnerable elderly woman.

Pros: none

Cons: bait and switch tactics; not knowledgeable; showed up late

.

Called them to schedule an appnt...told them the problem and that they would need to snake the main...they showed up 2 hours late. The guy told me he didn't have the right eqipment and couldn't do anything. When I tried to discuss my options he walked away, got in his truck and left. Total waste of time...my whole day...Called Roto-Rooter, they came out in 2 hours and fixed the problem with no problem. They were a little pricey but they guarantee for 6 months and the problem is fixed. They also did a power wash after clearing the main. Will NEVER call Mike Diamond again,.

Never again. Their ad on the radio is bs. $99 to fix the problem and if they don't show up at your house in time, it would be free. That is bs. It took them two days just to get to my house after numerous call to their company. Like one of the user, thanks to they dicking around, I couldn't get more quotes from other plumbers.

After reading all these review, it seems like they play a game where they will tell you that they are short handed and the plumber is still working on the job from a earlier appointment.

DEFINITELY OVERPRICED!! The plumber also tried to fixed the leak underneath my kitchen sink but told me that it would cost $1000 to fix it. Guess what...I went to Lowe's this morning and bought new gaskets (under $5) and it is fixed. No plumbing experiences and I did this for under $5 and he quoted me that it would cost me $1000 to fix it. Bunch of thieves.

Another user stated that the good reviews is either family or co-workers, I would definitely believe that. I would not recommend them to any one. Stay another from them. They are full of it.

After posting the review, I called and explained why we stopped payment on the check, because they failed and then tried to sell us a ridiculously expensive roto rooter method instead of doing what a normal plumber would do (use a cutter). They stated that they did not want to waste their or my time in court and would write it off, so I will give them that. They said they do not use cutters to cut roots out because sometimes the cable breaks in the drain and they do not want to risk that liability. Interesting note, though, that mom and pop plumbers use the cutter method and are willing to take that risk. Maybe they didn't want the bad publicity from losing in court, who knows. My recommendation is that you consider using a good mom and pop plumber before you think of using these guys.

Ignore the positive rating here, they're probably from Mike Diamond's family. A one star rating is way too high for these thieves. Our heater wasn't working and the gas company told us we needed an electronic igniter that should cost around $250. The Mike Diamond plumbers arrived 2 hours late and spent a few minutes replacing a small piece of mostly plastic and wire. We were presented with a bill for $735. Although their truck was supposed to be fully stocked, this fairly common part wasn't in the truck which turned this into a job lasting most of the afternoon. They also noticed a small leak on a water faucet in the front yard that could be fixed for only $1,500. We attempted to call a supervisor who was unavailable but promised to return the call immediately. Still hasn't called, my guess is the supervisor was busy dealing with angry callers that Mike Diamond plumbers had already visited. Mike Diamond plumbers are pure crooks.

We made an emergency call to Mike Diamond Plumbing as our toilets were overflowing and the tubs were backing up. Mike Diamond's staff said they would have a technician out within two hours. They called us back at 4:00p.m. on Sunday to tell us the Technician was held up all day "KNOWING WE HAD AN URGENT SITUATION" that needed to be taken care of that day. Mike Diamond wanted to send someone out on Monday. We told them they losts a customer for life!!!!!
What ever you do....do not call Mike Diamond as they are totally unreliable!!!

We called for an estimate on sump pump repair on a day it was supposed to rain, so Mike Diamond Plumbing apparently thought they could make a lot of money that day by price gouging suckers. After attempting to charge us $272 for an estimate on our sump pump that they originally said would cost us $76, they then handed us an estimate for the work they claimed needed to be done on our sump pump. They said it needed $2690 worth of work, or, alternatively, we could pay $6275 and replace the entire thing. When we checked around to see if these prices were reasonable, we learned that the work they said needed to be done actually costs between $180 and $300 (at least a $2390 difference) and that a new sump pump actually costs around $1800, including labor (a difference of $4475). To top it all off, we didn't actually need any of these things - we were ultimately able to fix our sump pump (using another company, of course) for $125. After they heard we wouldn't be using their services, the tech from Mike Diamond then proceeded to call my husband's office and harass his assisant - apparently upset that we had figured out his plan to price-gouge us.

I had heard their advertisement on the radio to unblock any drain for $99 so when my bathtub backed up I called and made an appointment. The operators were great and had a technician over in about an hour and half. Great I thought. The technician shows up and peers into my bathtub and quotes me $260.00 and says he's giving me a discount down to $210.00. I inquired about the $99 ad that they run and he said my blockage wasn't "basic." He didn't even evaluate the situation and they are definitely trying to bait and switch they customers. DO NOT use them as they are deceptive in the advertising and completely unethical.

This review is based on my experience with the Van Nuys branch of Mike Diamond Plumbing and Heating.

Mike Diamond advertises it's employees as "smell good plumbers". I didn't really test this out because by the time my plumber got to my home 3 hours later than promised he was barely in my home for more than 5 minutes.

I called yesterday because one of my bathroom sinks had fallen into the cabinet below the counter top. I spoke to a couple of people there and was assured that this is the kind of job that their plumbers could handle. So I set up the appointment for between 9 and 1 today. At about 11:00 I started getting calls from the dispatcher telling me that the job before mine was taking longer than expected and that he would probably not be done in time to get to my home by 1:00. When he wasn't there by 2:15 I called to try to get an estimate on his time of arrival. I was told that it would at least be another hour before he could leave the other job.

Finally he got to my home at 4:00 and he immediately told me that it wasn't really clear to him what my problem was. Apparently, even though I had taken great pains to explain the situation to the people I spoke to when I was setting up the appointment and this person told me that she had checked to make sure that this was something their plumbers could handle, either they didn't take the time to really explain the issue to the plumber or they never really understood me in the first place.

In any event, by the time he got there I figured it was best just to show him what had happened. Within a minute or so he told me it wasn't a job he could do. So essentially I had wasted my entire day waiting around for him to show up only to be told he wasn't going to do the job. Obviously I was very upset and I let him know that. Without a word, he walked out of my home. Thankfully he wasn't stupid enough to try to charge me their $76 fee to simply come out and look at what needs to be done.

I ended up calling a handyman who, for $80 total put the sink back in place.

Maybe their plumbers "smell good" but their rest of their senses including their senses of honesty, and decency are out of whack.

A $75+ charge just to show up. The job was to just hook up a new gas clothes dryer. This job is at best 20 minutes worth of work. It only required the tightening a flexible gas line from the valve on the wall to the dryer. The tech said the supplied gas line was not appropriate that he may have one on the truck and he would check and come back with a quote. He also said using the gas line he supplies would eliminate the need for a valve change saving us hundreds of dollars. Then he returned with a quote of $340 for a job most teenagers could do. Even if the fittings did not match it would not require the work that was proposed. After protesting he called the service manager on the cell phone who reduced the quote $70.

Other plumbers quotes were $95 for labor and the part is $20 at Home Depot.

Where is the the difference from $340 or $270 to the $115. Can you say Price Gouging!

The tech was always trying to justify the guarantee and then tried to sell stainless steel hoses for the washer with fear tactics of broken hoses and flooded floors.

This company is into fleecing people of their money and with highly inflated pricing. Stay away far away.

When I chose to call Mike Diamond for a tune-up of my heat exchanger, my only concern was to get a good service. After the work was being done, I found that their price was also very reasonable.
Now, it was a win-win situation for me. They did a perfect job. In the future, I will definitely seek their help. Their brilliant service, coupled with fair price, professionalism and talent make them a great plumbing company.

Plumbing problems are never ending issues in my household. On one such event, after calling several other companies, I was relieved to come across Mike Diamond. With many plumbing issues, their technician quoted me a price and to my surprise it was much lower than what I expected. And it was very reasonable compared to the other companies I called. Besides, they were very punctual and polite. I will definitely call them again in the future!

After having three years of experience in service with Mike Diamond, I can say these folks are fantastic! They understand the problems first and then come up with an estimated bill. They answer any and all questions that I have regarding particular issues and point me in the right direction. They are not greedy.
There were events when they suggested me several cheap options, where otherwise they could have earned more! Mike Diamond's customer service is top notch!

I urge those people who think badly of Mike Diamond that they should at least give the provider another chance. I am sure this time they will prove themselves and will change your opinion.
If they are a bad plumber how come I have been getting years of good service from them?
I somehow would like to believe there were misunderstanding and miscommunication between the two parties.

Friendly and professional are the words that best describe Mike Diamond??s technicians.
They are easy going and instantly strike a cord with their customers and seem willing to answer any and all questions. The vast knowledge in the field makes them work efficiently. Their quote was not high and they did not do work above the actual degree of the repair and damage.

I highly recommend Mike Diamond!

I moved to my new house in Orange County last year knowing that many of the appliances in the house were not working properly. I went through the Internet in search of a good plumbing service provider and that is when I came across Mike Diamond.

Choosing a new plumber without the recommendation of friends and neighbors seemed quite scary.
But, I took the risk and called Mike Diamond. This was the first time I needed to call a plumber to my house. They did their job quite well and my appliances have been working properly without any problems.

As opposed to many reviews, my experience with Mike Diamond was somewhat different and a good one!

I had some problems with my boiler, so I called the service provider on my friend's suggestion. The boiler was leaking badly and when they arrived and checked it, I was told that it can be fixed with a fixture. I was more than happy, thinking that it would not cost me much. I doubted that some other plumber would quote me with such a cheap solution.

I am sure there are a lot of incidences when customers become victims of rip offs!
