My wife and I have stayed here twice and it's pleasant stay. It's in Japan Town on Post st which is a good location and everything is decently near by. A down side I observed is that at night it's like a ghost town and creepy to walk while

A big part of why my partner and I chose the Kabuki Hotel for our visit to San Francisco is because they advertise a complimentary pass to the Kabuki Springs and Spa on their website: "Guests who book their stay through www.jdvhotels, by calling the Central Reservations or the Hotel directly receive a complimentary Communal Bath guest pass to Kabuki Springs & Spa".

However, THIS IS NOT TRUE.

When we checked in, the staff member managing the reception desk informed us with a shrug that the Spa was only communal on Tuesdays (which was not during our stay). There is NO MENTION of this single sex restriction (for 6 out of 7 days of the week) ANYWHERE in the email confirmation the hotel sends out upon booking. This is plainly dishonest marketing.

When we tried to take a nap instead of go to the spa (we were wanting to unwind and rest after a wedding), I was also shocked to find out that even though we were on the 14th floor, we could hear everything happening at street level during a street fair.

Also, most staff members were generally unhelpful--with getting taxis, picking up the reception phone (when we called for information from outside of the hotel), and with questions regarding other spas that might be communal.

I'm a firm believer that you get what you pay for. If you book a cheap hotel, you shouldn't expect much--but Kabuki Hotel isn't cheap...and you still shouldn't expect much.

Needless to stay, I will never stay at this hotel again or recommend it to friends or people within in my company traveling to San Francisco.

Message from Hotel Kabuki

Hotel Kabuki is a comfortable mile from the hustle and bustle of Union Square and just two blocks from Kabuki Springs and Spa. Unwind at the San Francisco boutique hotel, soak in our three-foot Japanese-style tubs and authentic wood sauna, take in our beautiful city, and work out in our 24-hour fitness center.
