Yes, girls , I was one of those that thought I would be better off going to a female GYN. WRONG. I tried several, suffered through long waits, crowded waiting rooms, only to be treated by the doctors as if I was lucky to be there!. They tended to be rougher, shorter both in demeanor and answers, and in the time spent. Condescending. I found one that was so-so, and I guess i would have gone back, but when i had an emergency, she was on maternity leave, and after delivery she only worked part time, which made the wait for an appointment all the worse, and she seemed tired and unfocused.
Then one of my friends said "just TRY Dr. Francis, he's great." And wow, is my search over. From the first call to make the appointment to the appointment going on time, the wonderful nurse, and then the doctor, this was perfect. He combined kindness with expert easy to understand advice and explanations. I have NEVER had such a gentle exam, and his demeanor was just so calming and reassuring. I now know what it is like to have a personal physician that i can call anytime about anything, and receive a prompt call from the doctor himself, and easy things, like a cold or bronchitis, he takes care of me, avoiding me having to fight my way in to my internist.
You will be amazed, try him. Unfortunately he told me that far a male gynecologist it is becoming virtually impossible to survive, between the overhead and the fact that all you women think a woman is the answer. I've made him promise not to quit 'til I die!
