The Bolts want to move to a new stadium, but the fact is "The Q" is still a great place to play. The seating capacity is something like 70K and it's shaped in such a way to GET LOUD in a hurry. Look at Petco Park vs Qualcomm... fewer seats, less noise in Petco. I hate to say it, but the Pads gave up some home field advantage when they moved away from Mission Valley.

PROS: good stadium
CONS: kind of old

I still remember the days when Qualcomm stadium was the Murph (Jack Murphy Stadium); when fireworks rang out at almost every weekend Padres home game; and when there was almost always an event going on at this stadium. It seems that those days are gone, and that the stadium sits empty most of the time. Sure, it still hosts an occasional Monster Truck, Used car and truck sale, RV sale, Motor Cross, or Concert event, but other than during football season when the San Diego Chargers play here, the stadium sort of goes to waste. The parking prices are pretty much outrageous regardless of what event you are going to, and thats if you can ever find a parking space. During a sold out football game, dont expect to find a parking place, unless you arrive hours ahead of time. The best way to get to Qualcomm is on the trolley, but there again, the city finds a way to make an extra couple of dollars off of you. The food prices are high, but then, you come to expect that at stadium events nowadays. If you do hit the snack stands, be sure to try the nachos and the ice cream, they are both to die for. While Charger tickets are a bit more expensive then I am willing to pay, other events such as Monster Truck and Motor Cross shows, still have affordable seating for everyone.

Qualcomm Stadium is a pretty nice sporting facility, with plenty of food choices (albeit rather overpriced, as typical in stadiums) and lots of television screens so you don't miss the action, wherever you are. Don't drive and park at the stadium--take the trolley instead. It stops right there, and is much more convenient.

I really like the televisions that they have throughout some of the hallways. They televise other sporting events just in case the one youre watching at the stadium loses your interest. I also really like how there is a trolley stop right in front of the stadium. Definitely a great way to go to avoid the Qualcomm parking lot with its high parking fees and crowds.

Despite the recent departure of the San Diego Padres from Qualcomm, the stadium (still housing the chargers), still represents a large part of san diego spirit. Although it is not in prime condition Qualcomm is still a great place for concerts etc.

Home of the Chargers, and host of many special events! They hosted a monster truck rally here earlier in the year, and it was amazing! Ticket prices obviously depend on the venue. Parking is crazy, as you would expect, but they have plenty of spots...you may just end up walking for quite a while. Food prices are through the roof, but again, what else would you expect?

I have going to Qualcomm Stadium my whole life and it is still a great place to spend a day. The Padres have moved out, but Chargers and Aztecs still play football here. The food is pretty good, and the location of the stadium is really convienient, right by the 163 freeway. The parking lot is massive, with plenty of space to tailgate, but there is only one exit, so traffic is really bad leaving the game. For really big events, the trolley is great way to go.
