It cost $380 to replace 1 shorted wire in a central A/C unit in September. 3 months later I had to call another company to reattach 2 wires that had been disconnected from the heater part of the system (that wouldn't turn on). An appeal to Central Plumbing for reimbursement was met with a sternly worded denial of responsibility and "you signed on the bottom of the contract that you were satisfied" so essentially case closed, too bad. After threatening to contact the BBB, their story changed and they coughed up the cost to re-attach the 2 wires and even kicked in an extra $75 for my trouble. Great company? You decide. Why did I pay $380? It's a rental unit, there was already an $85 diagnostic fee and it had to be done. They kind of have you over a barrel. When I said in my letter that I thought the charge was exorbitant, they questioned why I didn't call to ask to have it reduced. What? Really?! Why not charge a fair price to begin with? I mentioned to my neighbor who has the same A/C heating system and he said he had all the wires replaced in his system for a little over $100. Big difference.

We would like to clarify a few missing or misleading items regarding this review. We did repair this client??s A/C unit in September and he approved the amount before the work was done. He could have declined the repair and paid the diagnostic charge (standard for HVAC companies and quoted up front). The client should have contacted us if he had a problem. We provide a 2 year warranty and would have come out at no charge to recheck the system. If we had left a wire loose, we would have repaired it at no charge. We did not hear from him until January when he asked us to pay what another company charged him to repair wiring on the heating side of his system. We have an A+ BBB Rating. We aren??t perfect, but we try to take care of any client concerns if given the chance. We decided to refund the amount he paid the other company and included $75 as a good faith gesture. We did this despite the fact he did not even give us the opportunity to check out the problem or resolve the issue. The work his neighbor had done is irrelevant as we don??t know if the work was done by a licensed contractor or what the scope of the work actually was. We believe we treated this client fairly.
