Jean Parker is an AMAZING school! As an educator, I toured several local elementary schools and was very impressed by the strong academic program. Now that my girls are in kindergarten at Jean Parker, I am even happier than I could have imagined. My girls are learning more and more every day and they LOVE school and their teachers.

The principal is a strong instructional leader and the staff is hard-working and devoted to the children they serve. Each teacher develops an instructional plan for the year and teachers collaborate to ensure students are receiving the best instruction.

The school itself is a new building designed by a local architect, classrooms are clean, light-filled and covered with student work. The school feels small and personal and parents and students gather together each morning to start the day.

I have visited my daughters' classes several times and over time I have seen how students work together to support a positive, fun, and safe learning community where children are encouraged to do their "best work."

When we first applied I had several friends who were extremely impressed with the program like me but did not apply due to their concerns that the school was not as diverse ethnically as some other schools they were interested in. Most of these parents were white. They worried their children (and possibly they), might not fit into a school with that has a large Chinese-American population.

I am mixed racially and so are my daughters and we have not found diversity to be an issue at all. My daughters come home talking about their wonderful relationships with friends and teachers. My girls are in the general education classroom, and we have found there are many ethnicities and language groups represented. There are many mixed children and a large number of students who speak multiple languages. We feel very lucky to be a part of the Jean Parker community!
