California beckoned us when my youngest sister-in-law married the love of her life! He is one of 9 children and from the LA area. Most of our family was able to fly out for the festivities. My husband and I were fortunate to stay on the Queen Mary for three fantastic nights. We had such a great time there had it not been for the wedding activities, we would have remained on the ship the entire length of our stay. The room service was excellent, the staff helpful AND friendly, the Observation Lounge was awesome and our room was better than we expected. I would recommend this to anyone with a sense of adventure and a love of history.

PROS: Everything you need is there! No reason to leave the ship!
CONS: Thin walls but, we expected this and it was not a problem.

The Queen Mary used to be afloat. It's permantly docked now in Long Beach and no longer goes out to sea. It's a hotel and a tourist spot. You get to tour the ship, even if you're not a hotel guest, to learn her history. Anyone into the nautical scene would probably enjoy a visit here. There are restaurants here as well as shops.

PROS: Nice stop for those who love history and ships.

It was a great experience touring the Queen Mary. Its a wonderful ship to explore because there is so much to see. I really enjoyed the Engine Room which was a treat to see. You also get to see a quarantine area and simulated hospital. They have guided tours available for extra bucks.

The Queen Mary hotel might be kind of pricey, but where else can you stay in a legendary boat over night without being on the rocking sea. They have restaurants on the boat as well. But the plus side is that you're eating on the Queen Mary ship. So afterwards you can roam around on the boat and look at all of the history and artifacts of the ship.

Or you could just relax on the side of the ship, overlooking the city of Long Beach and Shoreline.

Went on the self guided tour of the Queen Mary and the Ghosts and Legends show. Prices can be a bit steep if you factor in admissions and parking and food. Another downside, there is a very limited number of places to dine on the Queen Mary. Even after being seated at a table, the wait for the food is incredibly long.

Upside: historic background + Ghosts and Legends Show + chance to hang out and enjoy the wonderful weather

I am writing this in regard to their wedding receptions. I must say they pull off very nice receptions, but for a lot of money. We did have some problems with them though. The coordinator was changed at the last minute before our wedding reception, and things almost didn't get done correctly. They wouldn't let me set up the decorations before hand. They said a florist or whoever had to do it. Well, we did not have a hired florist. We penny-pinched in every way possible for our wedding to be able to have our reception here. Eventually the coordinator ended up setting everything up herself. So, everything worked out in the end for the most part. They didnt get the menu totally correct, we asked for no mushrooms, they have mushrooms, that sort of thing. Oh well, it was still a blast!

Cool huh! The Queen Mary Hotel and museum. A floating palace of history. You can tour the ship and get the entire story behind the "Queen". Beware they say the ship is haunted. Maybe? After your tour enjoy a cocktail or other beveragein the Observation Lounge with spectacular views of the ocean and skyline. Be sure to dine at the 5 star plus Sir Winstons. Finish off the evening with an excellent slumber in one of their many staterooms..

Recommend the Royal Romance Package!

The location of the ship in relation to everything else Long Beach has to offer is great and although the parking price is fairly steep ($10 per day), where they let you park is very convenient. I love to drop by around Halloween when they have their ghosts and legends. The price is 30$ per person. But be prepare for the long long line.

I went to a wedding here a couple of years ago, and although the chapel area is small and intimate, it was very charming. The ballroom has beautiful woods and is a great place for a reception or special event.

Editorial from

The Queen Mary is a Long Beach hotel, museum, and restaurant all rolled into one. The rooms are not terribly kid-friendly (Id opt out of a stay here)...
