I've played Coronado 20 or 30 times and usually have an okay experience. The location and cheap rates, typically make up for the slow play. But today, I played at Coronado and had the worst golf experience of my life. I showed up 30 minutes before my tee time and teed off at 3:05pm. There was some type of tournament with young kids going on, so I asked if we could tee off the back nine. The starter told me yes, then no, and well, I could of if I asked 10 minutes ago. I was already checked in, why didn't someone let me know, since this was obviously going to be a problem?

After an hour I had only played 2 holes, because of the tournament in front of me. I was very frustrated and decided to call it a day, as I was only going to get in a total of 4 or 5 holes before it got dark. I went in the pro shop to explain the situation and asked for a rain check. They said that they don't give rain checks and that it was a typical pace. Really?!? Because I've played Coronado 20 or 30 times and the pace is normally slow, as many other reviewers have noted, but never anything like this. I couldn't even believe the guy working was trying to tell me that this was somehow reasonable. Then, he told me that they have lots of tournaments and I could check the schedule online before I make tee times in the future. Again, somehow this is my fault? Maybe they should have told me that there would be a tournament in front of me and it might be slow, when I called to make my tee time.

Needless to say, I won't be coming back here for a long time. It may be the best bargain in town, but If it's too much of a problem for you to give customer service at that rate, then I would rather go pay more to play somewhere that values their customers. This is one of the worst examples of customer service I have ever seen.

Pros: location, price

Cons: slow play, poor customer service

Coronado Island's only golf course. Fun public course with a nice view of the Marina with private boats. Pull carts allowed. Moderate prices, friendly staff.

Had to do a little work here and I wanted to drop everything and go play glof. The course is surrounded by San Diego Bay and nice residential neighborhoods. I heard it is difficult to get a tee-time though.

Play golf surrounded by water and yachts! It is an ideal setting for golf. My son loves it here. Lovely view from the restaurant, and the food is pretty good. The pro shop staff are a little stuffy. Driving range for practice and putting greens.
Recommend playing here if you haven't tried it yet.

You couldn't find a better course in Coronado. Fun but a little costly.
The greens are well kept and the ocean breeze is always nice, except when it affects your final putt on the 18th,
