Please proceed with extreme caution before contracting with this company to do your kitchen remodel!!! It is difficult to even find the words that can express how dissatisfied and frustrated my husband and I have been with the services of this company.
In 2006, we contracted with the Northern California office in Hayward, CA to remodel our kitchen. We paid approximately $30,000 to The Kitchen Connections to redesign and remodel our kitchen. Approximately 21/2 years after the completion of our kitchen, our LG Hi Macs countertop developed a hugh split in the seam...the cause was the fact that they had placed the seam directly over the top of our dishwasher so over time the heat and steam above created a split in the seam....a BIG failure in design. We made numerous calls over a period of 6 months just to have the office dispatch a technician to assess the damage and determine what would be needed to repair. Although, the President of the Company in Northern California did acknowledge responsibility for the design flaw which was covered under our Service Contract Guarantee, they never honore any of the numerous commitments they had made for a service repair visit. Despite actually physically driving to the Hayward office location and meeting with Dave, all promises were just basically lies. Dave was in the process of permanently closing business in Northern California all l the while that he was making promises to honor our service warranty. During our final conversation with Dave he informed us that he was closing up business but that the Southern California office in Gardena, CA would honor all outstanding service issues for Northern California. To date, after numerous calls and messages left for George Steinkamp, the Company's owner, no calls have ever been returned and our kitchen countertop still remains cracked....it seems to be impossible to reach anyone at all with this company much less anyone with accountability to honor their service guarantee.....NOTHING BUT MAJOR FRUSTRATION FROM THE KITCHEN CONNECTIONS...A 1 STAR RATING IS BETTER THAN THIS COMPANY DESERVES....STEAR CLEAR AT ALL COSTS.

Would not even put a star rating on these guys. Had our kitchen remodeled a few years ago, and as i remember they had to replace a glass stove top after they broke it. DA! So when i drove 2 hrs north to my closest dealer, gave him the door with our name and never heard from them or him again??????? Ruuuuuunnnnnnnnnn don,t be suckered into our mistake. The so-called good reviews here are probably faked. This company, owner George Steinkamp, is as crooked as they come. He is building a mansion in Dana Pt and I bet he would never stand for the shoddy work at his own place. They made a huge mess at my house. I am still fighting eye problems from this. They covered nothing. They were abusive to my home and the plumbing was all done completely incorrectly. Lucky for me I had withheld half of the money. I refused to give in to their strong arm tactics to get money before completion. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. He even lied about his daughter being sick...he said that was why he couldn't get on top of the problems sooner. He lied, his people were late every single day, the work was terrible. No license, no bond. I didn't find that out til after they started. Shame on me for not checking better! Read the reviews on other sites. And then RUN!!!

FRAUDULENT. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I gave a deposit for $800 and cancelled the contract within the 3 day grace period. I have called them and left messages AT LEAST 20 TIMES with the people who answer the phones and left messages for George to call me back. The coward George has never had the integrity to call me back. He has not returned my $800 deposit and I am going after him for criminal charges - this is fraud and theft on his part. He is trying to keep my deposit of $800 and has not provided me with any services. He does not honor any legal agreements. I am forced to obtain legal counsel and I will process him for personal theft and robbery. I wonder how many others he has done this too. I am even thinking of sending it to the TV stations as a special interest item!

We had our entire kitchen stripped to the drywall and redone with new cabinets from Kitchen Connection in 2007..It was the worst experience my wife and I have ever had with a Contractor! (or with any company for that matter)
The work that was supposed to be completed in 45 day per contract, took FIVE MONTHS! (would you like to be without your kitchen for five months? It was not fun at all and we sure as heck got no sympathy from the great people at Kitchen Connection!)

The first "journeymen carpenter" that worked in our kitchen, after the tear out was late every day, if he showed up at all...and his work was so below standards that nothing (I'm not joking here) nothing, was level or plumb...on ANY of the cabinets he installed! Cabinets where installed crooked, dented, scraped, ect...And It was down hill from there, I do believe if not for the last carpenter that worked here patching things up (literaly)..this job would have never been completed. At the end we were so tired and worn down by these jokers...we just wanted them OUT of our house! Long story short this company basically made every cabinet twice and or more times! Because of defects in either installation..or making them the first time, second time, third time..WRONG! (This may sound like a joke...but it's not...I have never in my almost fifty years worked with or seen a company that was that INEPT at doing what they were hired to do!) The only saving grace in looking at our $37K kitchen now...Two and a half years latter..Is the granite counter top look very nice (they were installed by a sub contractor thank GOD).
The varnish finish this company uses on it's cabinets...(Skirt EPA rules on air pollution...they spray it at your home instead of their shop were the EPA could and would monitor their air pollution...BY THE WAY!) is absolute garbage, and was peeling in so many different areas from not being prepared or applied correctly, they looked like a thirty year old kitchen! ALL the cabinets had to be refinished this summer (2010) at a substantial cost to us. We also had to have another carpenter come out and fix numerous problems before the cabinets could be refinished.(ie. cabinet doors that were literally falling apart because of the lack of staples when they were built) I had such a fight with Kitchen Connection in installing this disaster kitchen..I was not going to deal with them again for warranty work!

If you are even thinking of using this company...DON'T DO IT! RUN WHILE YOU STILL HAVE YOUR SANITY!

By the way, approx. eight months after we had given KC there final payment, we had a visit from the tile contractor that had tiled our back splash, He informed us that he will be putting a lean against our home because Kitchen Connection did not pay him for the work he furnished! I had to again deal with KC and get them to pay THEIR sub contractor that was suppose to be payed months before..Just the final kick in the $#& from this "great company". What's amaizing to me now in retrospect, KC hownded me for early payments through out the job..As in they wanted their money before they had finished the contracted amount of work...Then they turn around stiff their sub contractor....NICE HUH?!
Please do your self a favor (I don't want to see anyone go through what we did!!) and look at other rating sites, the CSLB and BBB...They show the -TRUE- Kitchen Connection!

This company needs to go out of business. They are liars and don't know what they are doing. George Steinkamp, the owner, only knows how to count money. He is building a beautiful home in Dana Point at the expense and headaches of others. The only thing that came out close to right was our countertops. KC didn't make them, they just installed them, not completely correctly! The plumbing was totally mucked up. The installer coudln't even get the hot and cold water right, and those lines are labeled. The guys that tore out our old tile didn't even bring a broom, they borrowed mine. They left a mess. I am still walking on bits of tile in other rooms. They had no regard for my home or my belongings. They were habitually late. The only ones that showed up on time was the initial salesman who lied about everything and then George Steinkamp, the owner when he tried to collect the final payments without giving me waivers of lien and release. The job was a complete headache and they couldn't have cared less! In the middle of the job I found out they have no license, it has been suspended by the state of ca. They also have no bond! It has been revoked for failure to pay judgements. Stay away. I wish I had. They are adding their own phony reviews on several sites to counteract the dismal reviews that they have received.

Suggest you go to California Contractor's Board to check license. Wish I could upload photos of what my cabinets look like less than 2 yrs. later. Also, look at other websites for reviews.

I just HAD to express my sincere thanks to the staff at the kitchen connection. At the risk of sounding like a bragger, my kitchen is absolutely gorgeous. Everyone who sees it is awe strruck- and im not just talking about my friends. Its not only about how beautiful my kitchen is, its also about the high standard of professionalism I experienced with this company! From our first meeting and continuing through completion, they always made themselves available for my questions and were quick to get back with answers and advice. Never once did i feel "abandoned" as so often happens after the papers are signed. They were terrific! Since this was my first re-model, I was a little nervous (we all hear the horror stories). But thanks to the talented team at the KC, this was not only a positive, painless experience, but the finished product exceeded my expectations. I couldnt be happier and look forward to working with them again!

We are currently remodeling and chose the kitchen connection to reface the cabinets and replace the counter top and cabinet doors. Most of us enter such arrangements with a great deal of trepidation, not knowing whether the work would be done properly or whether we would be satisfied.
First, the salesman, was informative, presented us with what we deemed a fair price, put us at ease and prepared us for what was going to happen.
Second, very quickly, the draftsmen appeared to make his detailed measurements. He satisfied us that certain minor adjustments and clearances could be accomplished. We later the craftsmen compliment him for the allowances he made in order to properly fit the countertop to the walls in cabinets.
Third, on the promised date, two very nice young men came to our house and immediately went to work. They both were knowledgeable about their workvand were great at the smallest details. Friendly and courteous, they were also efficient. In two and a half days they were finished and left the kitchen clean. We have the highest praise for these two men. The quality of their work is outstanding!
When our kitchen is completely done, and our neighbors see the fine cabinetry, the kitchen connection can be sure that we will recommend them.

Work Done: 4-14-10

My wife and I recently contracted the Kitchen Connection to fabricate and install Corian counters and backsplashes, which we are now enjoying in our kitchen. It would be an oversight if I did not take a moment to write and tell others of the excellence of the installation team they assigned our project to. The workers should be very proud of their expert craftsmanship and attention to detail as well as their high level of professionalism. They are an excellent installation team! When our installation was finished, we thanked them for a beautiful job. My wife absolutely loves it which makes me very happy, and we would not hesitate to recommend them to friends and family!!

My husband and I cannot find the words to express our delight and appreciation for the great job The Kitchen Connection did in our home. I am certain that my spouse will now be even more inspired to cook due to our new kitchens clean and great looks (so there goes my diet)! We cannot wait for our friends and family to be here for the holidays. We are sure they will admire our new kitchen and we would definitely recommend The Kitchen Connection to them and to our other future guest.

Sincerely,
Susan Antilla

We've had our new kitchen cabinets for about 6 weeks now, and we are so pleased with the kitchen connection that we just had to let people know. They have brightened up our kitchen considerably, and have made it seem larger as well. They have been a wonderful improvement to our home. We thank them for the quality of work they do, and for their efforts to make the installation conform to our schedule. If we need cabinets redone in any of our future homes, we'll come to the kitchen connection first!

In November of 2009 i contracted The Kitchen Connection to have my medium sized kitchen refaced. The salesman was courteous. Tthe installer, Leonard, was professional in his work ethics and he took great pride in generating a quality product. For stain and sealing, the two gentlemen were efficient, hardworking, and also knew how to perform their jobs. It is most refreshing to deal with a company that has high standards and employs people that are courteous, efficient and take pride in their work. I couldn't be happier with the work they did!!

The quality of work The Kitchen Connection produces is great. The salesman George Adler and the architect(who's name I can't remember) were very prompt and professional with their dealings with my mother. She is hard of hearing so I mostly dealt with the company but the few times she did have to speak with George he was patient and kind. We were exceptionaly pleased with the installer Greg,we appreciated him calling us to let us know when he was going to be late or not be at the sight at all.Not many vendors show that kind interest in their customers.Having been a past maintenance supervisor, I paid particular attention to the quality of workmanship and work habits of the installer, he was very meticulous in covering the floor to avoid marks or spills and did an excellent job of cleaning up after each days work.He was strictly business and finished a day ahead of schedule. This being of particular importance to my mother. My mother has since shown our relatives and her neighbors the terrific job done done to her kitchen and i am sure they will be contacting you in the future.

I had my kitchen done with The Kitchen Connection in June of 09 and I have to say that I am very pleased with the way my kitchen turned out. The new doors and drawers made a world of a difference. Their installer did a really nice job. He was also friendly, polite, and efficient.Anyway the new cabinets look wonderful. The only thing I'm sorry about is that I waited so long to have them re-do my kitchen.

Pros: they are everything people look for in a remodling company.

Cons: nothing bad to say.

We hired the Kitchen Connection to install new custom cabinets in our kitchen in 2007 and are still dealing with problems three years later. The project that was quoted to take 2 weeks to install took 18 weeks to complete. The project began in February and install began on April 1, 2007. We made several attempts to involve the company owner, Chuck Hendrickson in helping us resolve the ongoing problems with the cabinet install, but he was unresponsive. He wouldn't return calls or emails. We involved the BBB and the company ignored their attempts to assist in resolving the problems. We contacted the Contractors State License Board (CLSB) and the company responded that the job had been completed and the customers were happy, which was not true. There were major, irreversible errors made on our kitchen cabinets and we've lived with these errors since the install was completed. We settled our issues with the Kitchen Connection in January 2008. In the spring of 2009 we began seeing a powdery substance on one of the kitchen counters. Then we started seeing tiny holes in the cabinets where the powder was falling from. We had 4 exterminators provide us with an assessment of the problem. All four said there were Powder Post Beetles in the cabinets and the only way to eliminate this pest was to fumigate the house. There is no topical treatment for this wood eating pest. We contacted the Kitchen Connection many times and again waited and waited for a response. We also involved the Contractor's State License board again. The Kitchen Connection called us ONLY after they had been contacted by the CSLB. The owner, Chuck said he was sending out another pest control company to get another opinion. (4 reputable companies were not enough!) The guy who came to the house was from Heavenbound Exterminators. I'd never heard of this company, so I tried locating information on them online. Didn't find anything. I asked the person if he was a licensed exterminator and he said yes, but not licensed to treat for termites or other wood eating insects. He confided in me he was only at my home to get the $200 dollars he was charging the Kitchen Connection to do the inspection. About a week later I contacted Chuck with the Kitchen Connection to advise that he had sent an unlicensed exterminator to my home who was only out to collect some money. Chuck said he thought he was licensed. Chuck refused to do anything about the problem and said he felt the Powder Post Beetles were gone. He said, I'm not going anywhere, if they come back, call me. Well, they have returned and now our cabinet is looking more and more like swiss cheese. We've emailed and called Chuck several times with no response.
This company is horrible. They have no regard for their customers. They do terrible work and then leave you with a tail light warranty. We've never received any documentation from the company on what type of warranty we have with the cabinets or workmanship, but we've asked for it on several occasions. I'm amazed this company is still in business.

Dear Carl & staff,
You,along the staff have turned my functional, but outdated kitchen to a new level,it's coming out beautiful and so far I LOVE IT! I spend most of my spare time in the kitchen. It is the most comfortable place for me to be . We have been wanting to redo our kitchen for years but were aprehensive because we didn't want to hire the wrong people ,(having heard so many horror stories about some terrible contractors) We feel we have gotten the most for our money with The Kitchen Connection and our kitchen transition has gone along much more smoothly than expected.
We have no regrets , from the office ,draftsman and installer to construction guy Eddie. They did a great job cleaning and were very neat. We are very impressed.
We have lots of friends and family members we will gladly recommend them .
Sincerly,
kitchen mom

Dear Kitchen Connection,

I would like to thank all the staff especially Carl Jackson our installer . We feel we have gotten the most for our money with this company. The transition went along smooth . We did not realize the refacing would look so good , Carl was very detailed , clean and explained the whole process from start to finish.
I will think of The kitchen Connection while cooking meals for our friends and family.

Thank you again for a great experience.

Pros: Wonderful employees

I saw this company's booth at a home show over a year ago. The people seemed nice and answered my questions. I filled out a card and got a call from them a few days later. A nice woman came to my home and showed me pictures, and real samples of doors, different materials for counters, and really spent a lot of time with me. I did decide to go with this company, even though they were the first I met with.
I'm glad I did. They did not disappoint me. Great workers at my home, sweet and polite. They knew their job and did it well. I thought it would be a long process, but my cabinets were completed on schedule. I had decided to wait on the counter until I saw how they did my cabinets. I am now ready for them to come do the counters.
Well done..thank you to all the sweet people there.

I have been wanting and needing to do something with my kitchen cabinets and counters for over 7 years. It always seemed like too much inconvenience to have people in my kitchen for a weelk or a month or however long it was going to take to get my kitchen updated. I did a ton of research, went to homeshows, and talked to friends who had already done this. A good friends who is in the business recommended Kitchen Connection. I called and they had someone come to my home. They were professional, had great ideas, and made me feel excited about the prospect of a new and modern looking kitchen. The crew that took out the old stuff was polite and kept everything clean, the cabinet installation was on time, and actually was done a day early. The counters are beautiful. I had to do the remodelkicking and screaming, but i am glad I did it. I needed someone to come and adjust doors and they sent out someone within 3 days. I have heard many nightmare stories, but I can say this company did vereything they promised and more. I have told several freinds about them, and I know they will have the same positive experience i did.

First off their pricing was great , much less then some, but not the cheapest. Our new kitchen is SPECTACULAR...Work was done on time, as promised. We found all of the crews to be easy to work with, respectful of our property, and quality conscious. Our home looks like it fell from the pages of a remodeling magazine! We would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone

Kitchen was to be refaced October 2006. Now 12/28/06 the cabinets have yet to be refinished. I will list the numerous problems:
*Initial installer stole drinks from our garage fridge and later admitted to it once we located the empty cans left around in our kitchen and garage.
*Ran out of materials - laminate apparently takes weeks to order. Though the drafter should of estimated the right amount.
*The company did not order enough doors. Several of the doors ordered had the laminate peeling off.
*Installer sanded several areas of laminate so the yellowish color underneath is left exposed. He did not even have enough energy to fill these areas with wood filler. All the staples and nail openings did not have enough wood filler placed in there to make the area flush to the surrounding surface.
*2 out of 5 of our corbels were left loose (these structures support the bar counter)
*Installer left a half a bottle of gatorade on our plywood counter top and another drink on our dryer.
*Contract included them lowering our oven opening and microwave opening, which they failed to do
*I have been in contact with all higher ups and finally they sent a new installer out today to start cleaning up the mess. Of course the problem cabinet doors, etc. still need to be ordered even though KC was aware weeks ago.
*Contract will be ending soon, and I have a feeling they won't be done on time
*They keep hounding me for the next payment which is suppose to be given at time of cabinet completion, trying to bully me into paying at least partial payment so my project can proceed (meaning countertop installed). I have refused since it is absurd for me to pay since I am still waiting for about 6 doors and 1 draw front to be replaced.
*The list goes on but this site only lets you write so much.

I hope this info allows consumers to look else where when it comes to refacing because I certainly would not want anyone else to have to deal with what I am going thru.
