Today was my first time at Wake Up Beauty, and I wasn't disappointed. Mari cut my hair and did a beautiful job! I haven't been this excited about my hair in a long time! She was very relaxed and friendly, and she made me feel comfortable about the big change I made. Though I was a walk-in, she recommended I make an appointment next time to ensure I could be seen. Each hair cut, she informed me, included shampoo, conditioner and blow-dry. The price ($50) seemed very reasonable to me. Plus she gave me a 15% discount as a new customer. I was very happy with my experience there today!

I was looking to find a new hairstylist in the area, and I called based upon the article on Citysearch. I called to make an appointment, and the first thing I was asked was if I had a coupon from the Beach Reporter. Since I didn't, I felt like I was missing something. I set up an appointment, but the person was more intent on introducing himself five times, rather than what I wanted. Then, as I was hanging up, I asked the prices. For a color, cut, and highlights, he was going to charge double what I paid at my last salon, sight unseen. (Since I have longer hair, I usually expect the price to adjust a little). I then had to cancel my appointment (72 hours before the appointment was set) due to work. I called and after going through a maze of voice prompts on a seriously overkilled voicemail system, I left a message after waiting to connect for 3 minutes. I was immediately called back by the person I had talked to before. Since I was at work, I was not able to take the call. I assumed leaving a voice message on a very elaborate messaging system would be sufficient to cancel a hair appointment.
NOT SO! The day before the appointment, I recieved a call asking if I could move the appointment to an hour later. I didn't check my messages that day, but found out later. On the day the appointment was scheduled, I receved 3 phone calls in the course of 5 minutes, one minute after the proposed later time they had called me with the day before. Then I got a fourth call after that from the stylist's cell. I had to explain to him that I had cancelled my appointment 2 days before. Then he asked me if I wanted to reschedule right then. I was quite annoyed, as I was at work doing inventory, and my phone kept ringing over this appointment I had previously cancelled. If they were unable to retrieve messages from their answering system (my boyfriend laughed at how long it took to leave a message) and then were too busy to take me at the time previously scheduled, the answer was a no!

Pros: wouldn't know, too much of a pain in the first place

Cons: unprofessional
