Stay away from these sadists. They screw over your emotions and head and then will do it again multiple times. I finally learned. They are heartless bastards, including "Dr." Jay.

Four times I was jerked around by these sadistic, heartless bastards. They toss you a carrot of hope and then yank the rug out from under you.

Dr. Lalezari and the clinical staff are friendly, supportive and helpful. It gets very busy at times but they are always professional in their manners.
Often, those of us who are ill, feel vulnerable, irritable and need reassurance. I

A few years ago I briefly worked for Dr. Lalezari at Quest Clinical Research. While participating in one of his companies HIV treatment studies I learned he was looking for a receptionist so I applied for the job and was quickly hired. At the time I was taking pegylated interferon injections for Hep C and saw the part time job as a welcome distraction from my struggle with the harsh treatment and was excited about being part of something so important, after all this guy was saving and extending peoples lives. Although the Interferon treatment was no picnic I suited up and showed up at his Sutter Street Clinic and did what I felt was a more then adequate job and for a few months everything was fine.I even did an interview with Out Magazine about the study I had been in and my success with the non placebo treatment I received. Suddenly one morning without provocation Dr. Lalezari asked me into his office and promptly canned me. Now I know people get fired for all sorts of reasons and although I was bewildered as to what I had done it was obvious that he had made his mind up and that it was best to accept his decision and move on, what really flabbergasted me was his response to my interferon difficulties and I quote, "I don't really care about that" Stunned, I left feeling dejected and humiliated. It was truly one of the low points of my then declining health and I do not mind telling you it shook my faith in our health care system and providers I have since rebounded physically and am healthy and happy and an HIV Counselor. I have been unable to figure out why Dr, Lalezari said what he did the way he did and whenever I hear his name or see a Quest ad calling for study participants i feel a bit unresolved about my experience with him. Doctors and health care professionals are not gods. They are not infallible. This was a valuable lesson for me in being a better advocate for myself and others and thickening of my skin so to speak. I love what I do. And because of what I went through at Quest I hope I am better able to give HIV/HCV positive clients the dignity and respect they deserve. It is an essential part of any successful recovery. Insist upon it.
