I went into Sam Ash in the City of Industry yesterday to buy a guitar book. The booming speakers in another section of the store were turned up so loud... like a night club, I really couldn't enjoy browzing the books at all. I was not asked by any staff member if I would like any assistance even though they saw me come in... I approached the staff and I did ask for some assitance in finding a book and got the minimum help. I did mention that the booming speakers were so loud that it was really annoying. I was told by the staff member that "it's a good thing I don't work here"... and "you get used to it... I don't even hear it anymore". (Apparently, he wasn't hearing me either... or just didn't care about my desires) There was no effort made by the staff member or the sales manager on duty who I also made a request to to please turn it down a little to try to find some sort of reasonable compromise. I do understand the need to demo equipment. Perhaps having the books in a seperate room which dampens out a good deal of the noise would help. If that's not available... perhaps having some beverages available to offer a customer (in situations like this) and just asking if they can hold off for just a few minutes on the extremely loud speaker testing because another customer is disturbed by it ... and basically getting some communication and a little compromise going or at least attempted... I would have really appriciated some attempt, some effort on that... Any effort would have been appriciated. I got nowhere with my request to the staff member and sales manager on duty.

Over the years I have given Sam Ash thousands of dollars in purchases, all at the store on Beach Blvd. in Westminster and my experiences have always been good there. But yesterday, at the Industry store, the customer service was terrible. I usually walk out of Sam Ash (Beach Blvd) justifying to myself why I went in to buy small item and why I just spent 100 bucks on unplanned book and dvd purchases... or perhaps an unplanned guitar or travel piano purchase. But yesterday.... I just could't stay in the store longer than a few minutes because of the way things went. The very loud booming kept going on and off,on and off the whole time I was there which was about 15 minutes. Had I gotten a liitle reasonable effort from the staff to try to accomidate my needs too, I may have stayed, browzed and bought more books and dvds.
I don't see any reason for me to go back to Sam Ash in Indusrty. I will however try Beach Blvd again.
The staff at industry had an opportunity to try to handle and at least make an effort to resolve a situstion and they really didn't care to even try... so they lost my future business. I'd say the products are fine... but the customer service yesterday at the Industry store was really terrible. I don't know why, and especially in this economy (or maybe this economy is why... who knows??) Sam Ash is putting people who either don't have good customer service skills, don't care about all their potential customers needs, or both, on the front lines. Perhaps these folks would be better placed in a job stocking merchandise... but not on the front lines dealing with potential customers.
