WOW-Dr. Ray is humble, proficient, has OUTSTANDING bedside manners, and he is very patient with questions. I made a 100 mile round-trip visit to visit Dr. Ray and it was well worth it.

Unlike many other doctors, Dr. Ray actually thoroughly investigated my concerns and ruled out possible problems before 'jumping the gun' and throwing treatments my way [I had some cavities].

The office staff is VERY friendly and handles insurance matters quickly.

I was fairly new to santa monica and did not have a regular dentist. I wanted to check out Dr. Farzam. I set up an appointment for a cleaning.

After filing out the initial paper work I had to wait 25 minutes in the waiting room. An assistant showed me back, and as I walked pass some of the dentists chairs I saw TVs by each chair for patients to watch. BUT I SAW THE ASSISTANTS LOOKING UP AT THE TV TOO!!!
I was wary because I did not want someone working on my teeth to be watching the same sitcoms I was!

I waited another 25 minutes in my chair. They told me to watch TV.
Finally an attendant came to take x-rays,.

When my x-rays came back, I finally met Dr. Farzam. He looked at my x-rays for half a minute and told me I had PERIODONTAL DISEASE!
That is one of the most severe gum diseases you can have.
He told me that I should come back for a procedure to cure it, and he would even throw in a teeth whitening procedure at a discount.
Total: over $2500
He told me to make an appointment.
I was given no cleaning, which is the real reason I came in!!!

I just walked out of there.
Later my regular dentist told me Dr. Farzam's was an extremely incorrect diagnosis.
And to this day I do not have periodontal disease.

So. It worries me that this dentist sees many other patients who could potentially be getting incorrect diagnosis. Is he trying to scam people? That's what it seemed like to me.

BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE. I am very confidant you can find someone better out there.

I recently moved to LA and needed to find a new dentist. When I found all of these positve reviews about Dr. Ray online I made my first appointment. Dr. Ray was gentle and listened to my concerns. I was also really impressed with his assistants. They were really friendly and made me feel comfortable. I even decided to stay and get the ZOOM whitening for my teeth. I wanted to get it before my wedding so I had a good excuse! The whitening experience was easier than I thought and I am so happy they educated me on the option. I highly recommend Dr. Ray!

Let me set the record straight:

Dr. Ray is THE BEST DENTIST THAT I HAVE EVER HAD. I have been seeing Dr. Ray since February of 2006, when I moved back home to Los Angeles from college. I would not have been able to accomplish my daily tasks with comfort had it not been for the expertise and professionalism of Dr. Ray;s dentistry. While I will not divulge my personal dental history, I will say that I have had thousands of dollars of work done on my teeth, and have NEVER had a broken tooth, an abscess or ANY type of infection. Dr. Ray has even gone so far as to fix the shoddy work that other dentists have performed, at a GREAT price. And for the last part of the record, no one paid me, or bribed me to do this, Dr. Ray is a phenomenal dentist, and person, who truly cares about his patients, and their overall health, wealth, and well-being. After visiting Dr. Ray you too will see the difference.
Thank You.

Great Dentist! I fell and broke my front teeth. My dentist wanted me to see a root canal and a gum specialist before he could do my crowns. Then one of my friends referred me to Dr. Farzam. He did my root canals, laser gum tratment, and made me these beautiful cosmetic crowns that have no metal in them. My teeth now look better than they ever did before. I love Dr. Farzam. He is the best!!

I have to agree with the kind evaluations. I am a physician and know well what is extraordinary. That's why after my daughter went to Dr. "Ray", the remainder of the family and extended family are now patients. Unfortunately those who tend to write extreme and angry comments, especialy with the anonomity of the internet, are sometimes working out other anger issues. It's a shame. Dr. "Ray" is indeed a caring and very gifted dentist who often ends up fixing other dentists less than perfect work. He has also treated many celebs and royal family members but remains unpretentious, honest and warm. It is what it is. Dr. "Ray" should be proud of his practice, he is extraordinary (and human) and I wish his practice well, no doubt it will thrive. Problems? He is a great value too, if I were him I'd definitely raise my prices.

Here is a non-fake review for you little dears. Bite a rock.

I've been going to dentists for over 50 years, and Dr. Ray is hands-down the most skilled, most caring dentist I've ever had the experience of needing to go to. He does excellent work - his temporary crowns look better than the crowns he has replaced on my teeth. He always has time to see me. He is generous with anesthesia, and he cares whether or not he is hurting you. He does not tell you that you need things you don't need. He is so trusted and respected in the insurance industry that he doesn't even need to get pre-approval - they know he is honest.

I suspect that these negative reviews are from people who, for some reason, enjoy giving negative reviews. I have referred several people to Dr. Ray, and not a single one of them had anything but praise for him and his work.

Very clean office and so high tech. Dr. Ray is so gentle and caring and he took his time explaining the procedure to me. They allowed me to pay for my treatment in small monthly payments without charging me any interest. The staff are very friendly and they treat you like family. I highly recommend them.

This was a nightmare from the start. It began with endless scheduling issues due to incompetent receptionists (I do the same job, it's not that hard.). At the appt, Dr Farzam began the procedure, forgetting, despite my repeated reminders, that due to a heart condition (one he was made fully aware of), I MUST be given antibiotics before oral surgery or dentistry of any kind, or risk a LIFE THREATENING infection of the heart. "Ohhh...THAT'S why you came early!" I had to ARGUE with him before he realized his mistake, and had I been the type to simply defer to my doctor, would have listened to him, literally putting my life at risk. He then injected novacaine into the wrong areas, overnumbing my throat but not numbing my tooth enough, so that I was in pain the entire time. He was unbelievably rough while pulling the tooth, and I wondered if he was simply annoyed that I hadn't been swayed by the chastisement he had given me about being unwilling to go thousands into debt to him to save the tooth he was now pulling. I've had 5 other teeth pulled, and none were a tenth of as painful during or after. He told me my insurance didn't cover x-rays which I then paid for, only to find out later that x-rays are in fact covered. My insurance attempted to get me reimbursed, but when they pointed out that x-rays WERE covered, the office changed their story, claiming that I "must have misheard him"-that the charge was not for x-rays, but for something else entirely--something I hadn't had done. When I pointed this out to the office manager, she insisted that I HAD had this procedure, that I WAS responsible for the cost (despite the fact that the Dr. had made it clear what the procedure was, and that it was in fact covered at 100%), yet REFUSED to explain the differences between the two procedures, actually yelling, "I'm not going to explain all this to you!!" Unfortunately for them, Aetna disagrees, and has now launched an investigation into their network status & billing practices.

I needed two teeth to be pulled out and it was covered by my insurance. The cost for one tooth was suppose to be $15. I went to this American Family Dental office, and Dr. Farzam told me that it is not covered and it will cost $200 for pulling out one tooth. I talked to my insurance the day before and I knew that the dentist was telling lies. He was supposed to send a request for authorization to my insurance. When it didn't come in 21 days, a lady from insurance called and asked him to fax it. The dentist refused. Not only he was caught telling the lie, but he never appologized and was delaying me by not sending the request letter to the insurance.
