DIABETICS BEWARE of this terrible place: As an EX-regular customer of this establishment I have to express my frustration, anger and state of disbelief caused by THE OWNER of Influx. I ask everyone to stop going to INFLUX your life could be in danger SPECIALLY if you are DIABETIC. I have been diabetic for 30 years and this is why I ask all San Diegans and tourists to be careful of her. This is how my day started: I order breakfast for two people, I tip the jar as any other good customer would do. I sat and wait for the food. As an insulin dependent diabetic type 1, if I don't eat 30 minutes after taking insulin shot, blood sugar can drop and unfortunately this morning while at this establishment it dropped. I ask the owner if I could have an orange juice and I explain "MY SUGAR IS LOW CAN I PLEASE HAVE an OJ" she replies please pay for it, and I say I need it immediately my sugar is very low, I'll pay you in a minute. She proceeds to put the OJ back on the fridge and she says again: There is no line to pay so pay first and then I'll give it to you as soon as you pay" at this point I am about to collapse and I grab a pastry from the counter and start to eat it. She storms from behind the counter grabs the sugar coated pastry, with her bare hands and toss it on the trash, then she says again: PAY FOR IT! She is a lucky person since I didn't pass out at her establishment and required 911 attentions and she is a lucky person I didn't had a seizure, I have my diabetes under control and never in my life experience in this country something like this. I urge locals and tourists to stop going to her place. It is a shame this happens, all the employees are great and don't know how can they put up with her. IF SHE WANTS TO BE IN BUSINESS WHERE YOU TREAT AND SEE PEOPLE ALL DAY, SHE NEED TO TAKE A BASIC CLASS ON FIRST AID AT THIS PLACE YOUR LIFE IS AT RISK.

Influx provides a comfortable meal. They have entrees, but I like to get a coffee and pastry or any baked good.

It's more spacey than I initially thought, which is good. I happened to come by shortly after lunch so there weren't that many other people inside. The seating is comfy and it seemed like a spot that regulars would go to when doing work (on a laptop or with papers). I had a sandwich that was basically a BLT, except it had fresh greens instead of the L. I was impressed! I usually don't go for sandwiches at delis/coffee shops, but this one was satisfying. The chocolate cupcake had a strawberry and raspberry on it & my blended coffee drink paired it completely. I'm definitely coming back here again.

Influx has been on our block for nearly 3 years now. The food is consistatly wonderful, the coffee is great, and the people and atmosphere make it my favorite coffee shop of all the ones I've been in here and abroad.

Highly recommend the sandwiches!

The same day that Erin reported (on Channel 93.3) about the lemon cupcake at Influx, I decided to try one that same day. I went later that same morning. I pass the place nearly every day on my way to work, but have never gone in. Upon entering, the place felt kind of empty, although there were some people sitting at a couple of the tables. As I approached the front counter, I could see that the display case held only what looked like bags of potato chips. On top of the display case was a small array of breakfast baked goods and pastries. I was greeted by a couple of guys who seemed friendly and offerred their assistance. As I perused the menu on the wall, there were salad and sandwich items, espresso drink varieties and blends, breakfast baked goods, but no cupcakes listed! Instead of it being a total loss for not finding a lemon cupcake, I opted to purchase the Blended 1 which is a cold blended espress-based drink mixed with banana and chocolate. It was good. Perhaps if I visit Influx in the afternoon or evening, the cupcakes will be there. However, how can a place be mentioned about having yummy cupcakes when they are not listed on the menu, nor even there when someone mentions a great place to go get them? A bit disappointing....

I love this place. As if the free wireless, excellent coffee and it's comfortable atmosphere weren't enough, influx probably has one of the best sandwich deli's in San Diego. I love them all but the feta 1 and Ham 1 are probably my favorites. Feta 1 is feta cheese, a roasted eggplant spread, red onion, tomato and lettuce on focaccia. The Ham 1 is black forest, pineapple spread, red onion, tomato and arugala on a fresh baked roll. Also try the 'Goat Salad' goat cheese, dried cranberries, candied pecans and mixed greens to which you can add chicken, turkey or blackforest ham.

They also feature a breakfast menu which i haven't really been explored too thoroughly yet...but i did try the bagel melt which had turkey, swiss and a house pesto. they are an assortment of other bagels, croissants and pastries to choose to accompany your coffee. (if you are feeling like indulging, don't forget to try blended 1!!!)
