This is an entirely new Vault! I had dinner here the other night, and the food was amazing, and the atmosphere was totally different. It brings the hip, trendy atmosphere of Old Pasadena, to East Pasadena. The Restaurant was filled predomently by groups of people having fun, with a couple of families sprinkled in there. Come to find out The Vault is under new ownership, and the new owner is a gentlemen, and really knows what he is doing. Best of all the prices are more then affordable.

Based on the reviews I had read, I was skeptical about this restaurant. However, I was pleasantly surprised at the decor, the food and the service. Our waiter was very attentive to our needs. We asked him why the bad reviews and had the opportunity to give him some feedback about what we thought: ie. get rid of the dozen or so T.V's on the walls as it made the restaurant feel like an upscale sports bar. He said that the restaurant was going thru some changes to improve the image of the place and to draw a different group of customers. In my opinion there are plenty of places to watch loud sports and drink beer but few upscale places where you can walk in and get a good meal. I am looking forward to seeing the transformation he said he was working on for the restaurant.

Never been here at night, but we're here Sunday watching football. There's no better place in Pasadena. No crowd, full games, and good food. They even have breakfast/Sunday special now. I would prefer to keep it small and secret, but I think they deserve a better rating than what they've got.

I was very hestitant to return to this restaurant after a bad experience last year, but my friends were going for a birthday party on Friday night so I decided to go. First off, the manager is much better then previous ego-trip "if you don't like it then leave" attitude as mentioned before (new guy then before). He was very attentive to our table outside. The waitress was very cute and funny. Everything turned out great and I will be returning. I am glad it seems this place is improving on their staff.

I work down the street from The Vault and decided to take some collegues and clients in on a Wednesday evening for cocktails. The atmosphere was great for appetizers and drinks on the patio. Everyone was pleased as it was a nice get away from the traffic of old town down the road. Thanks for giving me a new place to go close to the office.

Went on a Friday night for dinner, drinks, and dancing. Had 5 girls and 4 guys, no problems like metioned below. Good food and a great manager who come over several times to see how everything was. I will definitely be a return customer! I did see some people there who liked to complain a lot (you know the ones always looking for a freee meal) and the staff was nothing but nice and polite. I think they might be some of the people complaining below. Don't go out if you can't afford to pay for your food and drinks. Nothing is free! Awesome place.....

Prior reviews of "trashy" and "wanna be trendy" struck the nail on the head. I don't feel that I have to repeat everything negative said about this place except to say that it's all true. Unprofessional/ pretentious staff, bad food, poor service. Makes me wonder if any of the management/ staff have ever been to a nice place to see how an establishment like this SHOULD run. The management obviously were compelled to start this place based on the phrase "if you build it they will come" which unfortunately has been true because I live in Pasadena and it consistently looks crowded. Totally built to "seem" trendy but it just ain't. If you want to go out in Pasadena there's so many better places.

The service was horrible. I went with a group of friend, mostly women and a couple of men. Although we wanted to eat, we got there late and the bouncers would not let our guy friends in with us (they were let in 20 mins later). Our server forgot her clothing and barely covered herself, which i would have ignored if she actually waited on us. My friend asked for water right after we sat and didn't receive any until we were about to leave. We had to ask three times for everything! We finally just started going to the bar to get drinks. After dinner we went inside to dance, but the music was awful. Worst I have ever heard. The only people who seemed to have a good time were the ones who were too intoxicated to notice what was going on.

To sum up why not to go: the nice interior doesn't make up for the noisy alcoholics, skanky outfitted waitresses, and unproffessional service.

Unless you're there to get drunk and watch sports on big screen TVs, don't bother going. I saw "nice" reviews and decided to book a reservation. Big mistake, I found a different website with reviews mentioning harrassing bouncers, a complaint to police that lead the person to discovery that several complaints had already been made. Another reviewer said that when complaining to the manager, he told them off saying if they didn't like it they could leave.

Here is my story: First off, if your claustrophobic or heavy set, don't go. It was packed on a Thurday night. Extremely loud. One group had so many people that there were atleast 10 of them standing. As if the aisles between tables weren't cramped enough.

The service was horrible. The waitresses (who I might add were in barely there skirts) took forever to stop by our table. We got our salads probably 5 min before the silverware, which we only got by getting up to go hunt down a waitress. They automatically brought refills for the drinks, which was finally a good point in the service, until we realized one of the glasses had a completely different type of drink from what was initially ordered. Eventually we got our food after a long wait and the only thing that was good was the few pieces of veggies and the overall presentation of the food on the plate. Am I wrong, or is food meant to be eaten, not to sit on the table to look pretty. As if that doesn't sound bad enough, it wasn't until I was almost done eating that I realized the chicken I ordered wasn't fully cooked and was pink on the bottom. Talk about a stomach turner.

Then the check finally came. My friends went to the bathroom and came back. Then after waiting a little while longer they finally picked up the card to go and charge our meal so we could finally leave.

Need I say we didn't leave a tip...

A group of friends and myself had decided to go out on the town for dinner and perhaps some dancing afterwards. We were, however, undecided on the location. One of my friends had heard of this place just East of PCC on Colorado, so we drove on over to check it out.
There was still light out and didn't think much of it but when night fell the place ignited these huge Roman torches which truly brought the place to life. We were greeted by a cute hostess upon arrival and tended by a stunning server. "Now we felt truly relaxed especially with a dozen or so plasmas all around us."
We had the tangy Filet Skewers, Popcorn Shrimp and the Lamb Rack..."all were superb." We continued with Mojitos, and kick butt Grey Goose Martinis. I would have to say that our experience at The Vault was awsome. The night club was the best of all, not to mention after a great dinner. I highly recommend this place.

I have been here about 4 times already and I have enjoyed myself. I love the outside patio to have drinks and the food is pretty good. I usually get the appetizer sampler which is great! I have been there when the club scene starts but since I was sitting outside we weren't affected by it at all. The service has been good, I really have no compliants. Its finally nice to have some type of bar/grill around this area.

I recently visited the The Vault Bar and Grill and was extremley impressed with the service and attention my party recieved. The food was absolutley amazing, everything was cooked to perfection. The Head Chef Gene really knows what he's doing. The drinks that came from the bar were absolutley delicious and so inventive. We stayed afterwards for the night club and had a spectacular time, the music was the best that i've heard in a very long time. The crowd was friendly highly fashionable and just a lot of fun. The managment team were extremely informative and very helpful. The three owners really knew what they were doing when they opened this restaruant. I've been back many times since and intend to keep going. If your looking for a place for great food, reasonable prices, exciting atmosphere and a fabuloust party scene The Vault Bar and Grill in Pasadena is where to be.

What can I say here without getting this review pulled. Well my lovely adventure started here where the doorman can not add to save his life. My friend paid for 5 people and he lets in only 4 leaving my girlfriend out. I had to argue with the doorman in order to get my girlfriend in order to have her not pay. Once inside you will get yelled at and pushed by security. I was not able to move due to the large crowd but security is yelling in my ear to move I had to yell back to advise him that I can't move due to the fact that there is too many people. Since I was tired I just wanted to sit down when I found a chair I was once again ask from security to move I advised I was not drunk just tired they still gave me a hard time. Then the bartenders are shady because they were charging my girlfriend a different price for the same drink my friend was buying. Then the bartender was telling my friend to show something for a free drink. Once 2am rolls around security go crazy by pushing and yelling at people to get out. They get very aggresive and have no remorse
if you forgot something they will not let you in to get it, they are litterary pushing you into the street. If you are into getting harrased and pushed around go ahead. Also if you love the fake and trashy crowd go right ahead everyone here are phonies. Avoid at all cost!!!!

I too went on Barcardi Night and the same experience. My friend had her birthday their and when she got their there was no table for her reserved. However, I did see alot of reserved table that no one was in and that didn't stop us for being in the corner. This place was cool, it went there for drinks and dancing.....then it became the most sad wanna be trendy places to hang out in LA. This place "thinks" it's LA or Hollywood but in reality it's good old poor side of Pasadena. It tries really hard to be like a place in Old Town but it doesn't even come close. Good luck with the security because they hassle you, even if you trip in your heels, girls, and you're not even drunk they will still kick you out for looking drunk. They kept hassling my boyfriend for sitting down because he was tired. And if you like to stay til last call get ready to get yelled at by the security. They are very rude. And the guy bartenders where taking advanage of my friend who was drink by raising her drink price and asking to see her nipples for a free drink. Class? absoulutly not Trendy? NO Trashy? YES

Pros: A place to go too for drinks and clubbin without driving far from the east.

Cons: Poor service, rude and cranky staff, overly priced drinks in plastic cups

Avoid this seedy dive at all costs. My experience here was, without a doubt, the worst dining experience of my life. It is obvious that the owners and the GM are trying to make this place seem like a trendy spot. They clearly have no idea what they?re doing. It is one of the trashiest places I have ever been. If you are the type who likes trashy club-type atmospheres, but you have delusions of class, then this is the place for you. If you are actually looking for a classy place to eat or drink, go somewhere in Old Pasadena.
My friends and I were seated at two tables. At 10:30 we were kicked off of one of our tables and had to cram ourselves at one table because we were told the ?Bacardi Girls? were coming at 11:00. When they did finally come, not a single one of them actually sat at the table, which remained empty all night. When we complained, the waitress basically ignored us. The Bacardi guy, who doesn?t even work for the restaurant, apologized to us and offered us each a free drink inside the ?Bacardi Bus? which was right outside. When some of us tried to go to the bus, we were told by the restaurant staff that if we stepped outside we wouldn?t be allowed back inside. I couldn?t believe it. I complained to the manager, who actually said ?I don?t have time for you? and walked away. I have never before been treated so rudely, and have never before seen such incompetent restaurant staff. Not surprisingly, the place was full of wanna-be trendy mall-rat types in trashy clothing who have no idea what class actually is. I honestly think we were treated so rudely because the staff could tell we were actual adults and not stupid little wanna-be club-hoppers.

I have to agree with the previous reviews, this is not the place you want to go for *fine* dining. You would expect for steaks costing over $25 you would not have to send two out of the three back. One cut was horrendous and the other was undercook and when that was brought back you could not taste anything but carbon. Also, someone in our party had to use a steak knife to cut his ribs. This place is a bad combination of poor chefs and even lower quality of meats.

I have to give points to our waitress, she was accommodating and apologetic and we also received the complimentary dessert. It must be common practice as I'm sure returns are a daily occurrence.

Two more low points - one person had to wait almost 20 minutes after everyone received their food because there was a *miscommunication* with the kitchen. This also was the same dish that came undercooked and then over charred. The first steak that was returned was *accidentally* charged to us until we brought it to their attention. Not once throughout our meal did a manager come over considering how many issues we had.

If you are looking to watch some sports and have a drink by all means this could be your place but if you are looking for any form of quality dining, please save yourself the money and grief.

The restaurant was almost empty at 7pm on a saturday night...not a good sign. We waited a long time to get our entree and not everyone got their food. We were waiting for one more plate to start but it too so long we started eating so the food won't get cold. We ordered a medium rib-eye and the "thing" was not edible. It was well done, rubbery and couldn't even be cut with a steak knife! Then 20 mins later, the last entree finally came. We ordered a medium rare new york strip...but the whole steak was bloody and raw with charred exterior. We sent it back and received a charred beyond recongition piece of rubber back. We asked the waitress to take both items off the bill, she did so but the manager NEVER came over or show himself to apologize or attend to us. If you want to pay a lot for bad food, this is the place to be!

The group I was with went to the Vault to celebrate a birthday. A few of our party members were running a bit late and there was a total of 10 in our party. The manager refused to seat our table until the rest of the party arrived even though we had a reservation and there was ample room.
After the rest of tha party arrived we were finally seated and was told that we had 1 hour to eat until our table was to be cleared away for a 'dance floor'!
The food was either overcooked or undercooked and the waitstaff was extremely inattentive. The were more concerned with apply more cheap make up for the upcoming 'clubbing hour.'
To top it all off, the manager was on some kind of power trip, thinking he was god's gift to restaurant management...um HELLO you run a wannbe club on Colorado Blvd in Pasadena!
The club crowd consisted of Forever 21 shoppers that were desperate to find their one night hook ups.
Seriously avoid this place unless you want bad food, bad service, incompetent management, and a cheap looking crowd!

The group I was with went to the Vault to celebrate a birthday. A few of our party members were running a bit late and there was a total of 10 in our party. The manager refused to seat our table until the rest of the party arrived even though we had a reservation and there was ample room.

We came to The Vault for the first time with another couple on a semi-business, early dinner. After ordering the food, our appetizers came out, then about 7 minutes later the salads were brought. Not one of the plates were cleared off and we had to eat our salads amongst half eaten calamari. As we BEGAN to eat the salads, our meal was brought out. There was no sign of the waitress, and the person who brought the meals seemed perplexed at the fact that there was no room on the table to place the meals. We called over a bus boy with an EMPTY tray and asked for it to be cleared, he stated he would go and find someone.!? Still no waitress. After asking 2 other people, our table was semi-cleared. Each of our meals were either overcooked or undercooked. The seared ahi seemed to have all three at play (rare, medium, and well) as well as the lamb. Needless to say we were displeased. After finally seeing the waitress, we let her know about the food and she came back with an offer of a $6 dessert, in exchange for a poorly cooked $28 meal. We refused the dessert and the waitress came back with one meal taken from the bill. We proceeded to pay and then noticed the manager and called him over. We mentioned that we were surprised that we had not seen him sooner with all of the problems. He continued to state that he had sent people over and that we should not tell him how to run the restaurant. We stated that we were the customer. He said, "If you don't like it, Leave!" Within a few seconds, he had sent over 3 bouncers, each about 6'4", 300 lbs. to escort us out. As we were leaving, one grabbed on to me, a woman, already calmly leaving. Once that happened, I stated he should not lay his hands on me. The 3 men proceeded to get aggressive and violent, swearing and pushing us out the door. We called the police and filed a report. The police informed us that this was about the 5th incident at The Vault and it is on high alert. Avoid this restaurant!!!!

Cons: Everything

From the outside it looks like a really great restaurant, and the atmosphere inside is outstanding. I was really looking forward to having a meal there. After we were seated the server attended to us fairly quickly, however after placing our food order the experience went downhill. I had the shrimp penne pasta and both the pasta and shrimp were overcooked. It was heavy on the pepper but light on flavor. My boyfriend had seared ahi, however it, too, was overcooked. The asparagus and the bok choi were good, but the wasabi and lemon mashed potatoes (potentially a tasty treat) went awry with too much lemon.

We wanted to order drinks after our food came, but the server never came back to ask us how our meal was or to see if we needed anything, so we had to hunt her down via the busboy. When she finally did come (about 5-7 minutes later and after stopping at other tables first), we ordered the 'Top Shelf Long Island Iced Tea' (which took another 10 minutes to get to us). It sounded great on the menu, but unfortunately turned out to be a grave disappointment. It didn't taste like a Long Island Iced Tea should, and most of the ice was melted by the time it got to us. I think it got watered down sitting at the bar.

It was another wait for the bill, which was perplexing considering it was a Tuesday night, the restaurant wasn't particularly busy and there were at least 3-4 servers working. I was really disappointed with the whole experience and could have spent less elsewhere for better food, drinks and service.
