Rip off!!! Do not trust this company! After taking my near 600 dollar deposit to "start work" on my drive they responded with it could not be fixed. I discouraged didn't try to go to another place, which I am about to do, but they didn't even return my drive casing which allowed me to get the warranty fulfilled and my drive replaced. Talking to them they made excuses about how sometime they trash the case which is ridiculous because they said they were returning the drive as it was when I sent it in. Basically they got 600 something dollars from me and took the case that would have saved me 500 dollars replacing the drive with the still current warranty. Don't go with them, find someone else!

Once I lost huge data from my damaged hard drive and got tremendous bitter experience from two data recovery companies. I don't want to disclose their names here but they didn't recovered a single data instead taken a percentage of charge for checking my device!!! Lastly my friend Harris asked me to contact Data Recovery Corp.....guys believe me they're the real Data Recovery Concern I've ever experienced. They didn't misguided me a bit. Recovered more than 88% of my lost data in 2 days!

I had no idea that not being able to use my macbook for even 1 day would be such a problem. That is until it overheated and stopped working! A friend suggested I let it rest for a few days and try turning it on again. No such luck. I finally decided to contact a professional. I randomly picked Data Recovery Corp in a search. This time I did get lucky, because they specialize in mac file recovery. They had me bring it for an inspection while I waited. It turns out that a bunch of parts broke when it overheated. Guess I should??ve bought extra warranty, but that still wouldn??t bring back everything I had on the computer. Fortunately these guys could. Matt, from their office said they could restore all the data the next day. When I came back they showed me what they were able to recover before a paid a single dime. When I was satisfied with what could be restored they gave me a new hard drive with all my information.

Data Recovery did the job and recovered my data, and overall the service was good, however the only minus was that they were a little too expensive in my opinion.

My home computer finally decided to stop working after 4 years. I didn??t have anything of real value just a lot of things that were important to me like our family reunion photos and home movies that are worth a lot to me. When I called to Data Recovery Corp. I was surprised to learn how often other people??s computers crash just like mine. Apparently mine wasn??t even that bad! Maybe the representative was just trying to comfort me. They told my husband how to take out the hard drive and mail it to them. They explained what was wrong and said they could fix it for 300 bucks. I??m glad it wasn??t more and learned my lesson to keep a copy of all the family pictures. Considering that I??m no computer whiz they did a very good job explaining the problem and how they were gonna fix it.

I worked with the location in Schaumburg, IL. Stay away! They say "no data, no charge" but had me pay $249 in materials fees after they said they could get most, if not all, of my data. Well, they later said they couldn't get any of it. After many days of phone calls that went unreturned, I finally spoke to the general manager who is refusing to refund my $249. Stay away!

Dealing with this company was a nightmare from the beginning. I read several questionable reviews about this company but I decided to take a chance anyway because I didn't know any better. My drive's power failed - it wouldn't even run at all like there was a power problem. I sent them the drive and paid for the 5 days expedite for $100 (but strangely it came to $105.93). Why should I pay taxes on an expedite fee?? Anyway, after I paid to ship my drive to them, they said it would be no problem getting the data off my drive and they quoted me $1398.00 along with an additional $138.03 for another hard drive to put all my info on, assuming they could get some info off it. I had to pay $426.93 up front though because they said they needed to buy parts for it. This price in non-refundable so you don't get this money back even if they don't get your info back. They initally said the price will be between $300 and $1500. So a few days went by and I didn't hear anything, so I called and left a message because I could never get ahold of Tyler Harris (the guy assigned to me). About 30 mins later he sent me an email with an update saying they were still working on it. He constantly said he would call me or email me then he never did! Another few days went by, no calls or email. I called and left another message, he sent another email 1 hour later saying he was sorry, but they were having trouble because there was so much damage to the head. How could there be so much damage to the heads when the drive was powered off, then just wouldn't power back on?? The heads retract when the drive is powered down! So 2 weeks after I sent it in, they said they had to send it to Canada to get some "guru" up there to fix it. I asked about a refund on my $105.93 one week "expedite" fee and of course they said no, that they "tried" to get it out in 5 days but it took longer because the drive was so damaged! What a joke. The drive worked perfectly the last time it worked before it wouldn't power back up - if no power could move the heads from their retracted position, how could this be? So needless to say, they weren't able to get the data off my drive. I then asked to get my $138.03 back that I paid for the new hard drive that I now wouldn't need. They said no problem. 2 weeks went by and nothing. I called again and they said they would issue the refund immediately. About a week later I received a box in the mail. I opened it to find it was a new hard drive. I called them again and they said there was a mistake and if I shipped the drive back, they would refund my money. So because I opened the box, I had to pay to ship it back out of my own pocket: $15.23 back to Canada (the return shipping address). So about another week later I get an email saying they are refunding $104.03. I called and asked why and they said customs charged them $34.00 and that I should have sent the package to Ohio! What the hell are they talking about?? OHIO?? I've been dealing with a company in New York and the return address on the box was: Data Recovery Corp. - that's their company! I sent it to the return address on the box! So now I've been calling every day leaving messges for Ben, the manager who politely told me I'm screwed because they aren't refunding me the rest of my money, even though it was THEIR fault that I got that stupid drive in the first place, instead of my refund! I'm trying to get in touch with his boss but I doubt that will happen since they are ignoring my calls now. Dealing with this company has been a complete nightmare. I HIGHLY advise anyone NOT to deal with this company. I filed a complaint with the BBB.To be perfectly honest, I believe the positive comments on this website are from members of their organization because they were all written within a few days of each other and all say basically the same thing! This is a very shady company and I wouldn't put anything past them.

I had a horrible experience with this company - RUN AWAY! I chose them b.c they said they knew MACS and b.c I live about 20 mins from the Fairfax office ad thought it would be quicker. I called - made appt - and dropped off the HD to recover EMAILS and PHOTOS. That was it - told the rep (Tony Robinson) that I did not need anything else and that emails were really most important thing. After MANY weeks of waiting (I had a month window and needed the emails for a court case) I finally discovered by talking to the tech that my drive was actually in Canada and that they had recovered my files. At this point they tell me I need a PC to look at the file names. I tracked a PC down only to discover the rep did not even tell them to look for the emails or photos but instead the techs spent weeks pulling USELESS info that I did not need, I had a court date getting close and started to panic. They did another recovery - another week - and emailed the info to me again. I was then told that on top of the $1000 I owed - that I owed an extra $150 to buy a hard drive from them. I have multiple hard drives and called to tell them I was dropping one off at the office (on Fairfax) on Wed. Was told it would take 24 hours by the guy there I told them I would pick up Fri am. On Thurs I was told I couldn't pick it up (that it would actually be quicker if they shipped it) and it could take 72 more hours b.c it had a mac partition on the hard drive which was slowing things down - WHAT??? I told rep I would be there on Tues am to pick up. On Mon I get an email that the hard drive has been shipped by UPS with a tracking #. GUESS WHAT? It was coming from Canada. That is why they wouldn't let me pick it up. And final straw - the rep had it shipped UPS 10 day ground service. I thought I was going to have a heart attack. Called the manager (Ben S) to tell him how incompetent his sales rep was and he said he would call back in an hour but never did. I followed up with one more call but gave up. I would never recommend this company to anyone. Worst experience ever.

That was an emergency for me and my job, I got robbed. Some kind of virus get into my computer and deleted all I had. Data Recovery Corp helped me a lot. They made the recovery fast and correct. And gave me the remote backup service, which is easy to use and I won't have the recovery problem again, because all my files are simply backed up at the specially encrypted server, isn't that cool?

Accidently my HDD crashed and I lost all my data. I was furious because there was a lot of information, pictures, home videos etc., and these were unable to be replaced. I found Data Recovery Corp and approached them to see if they could recover my data. I spoke to engineer who was very helpful. He understood my problem and after the provided free diagnostics stated that the data could be recovered. Data was recovered 100% successfully. Thanks for your professional work and I would be happy to recommend your services to everybody.

My daughter spilled a coke onto my wife's Mac book, and it turned off. And it just stopped working. So I went to the Apple store to the technicians and they fixed the book, but they said that I should try to recover the data because it was corrupted and they can't do nothing but replace the drive with the new one, so they gave me the old drive and I found the datarecoverycorp.com, shipped the thing to the address, wait for 2 weeks, paid 599$ and now my wife got the new drive with all the information. Thank you datarecoverycorp.com. I will buy a coke proof book now - ha-ha.

Truly I was mad on the calling center personnel for a good 5 days, before I had a reasonable answer and update, I know how the HDD works, and I truly cant understand why the diagnostic process took so long, but then the educated engineer talked to me and I calm down. The rest of the job was done on time and without spending my nerve, so I got what I needed they got what they needed which is always good...Thanks datarecoverycorp.com

From what I believe it is not an easy process to get the information off the USB stick, which was on the laundromat for a couple of hours - yeah? But quick response and phone operator confidence got me, plus free diagnostics and no data - no charge thing. A week and a half of time and 349$ - not bad for my MBA project. Great thanks Data Recovery Corporation.

Hi, my name is Marck Optes, my little son formatted the whole computer system, what I can do with that - nothing really, because he is my son. So all the family pictures has been there, all the memories, there was nothing to do but ask for a recovery. It took two weeks, but it was done - perfectly - all the pictures are recovered, the only thing is that the files names are 1,2,3,4... but as I was told the RAW recovery was done and there were no way to recover the names of the files, I can live with that :) the pictures are fine. So I want to say thank you to the company, I appreciate your hard work.

I want to share my appreciation to the data recovery corporation for their cooperation, and fast work. I do understand that this kind of work cost a lot of money, but when the success of your business depends on either information will be recovered or not - money doesn??t count. Thank you - the engineers and the phone people, for keeping me informed and for being successful.

My business is totally information and it??s safety, and the thing is ?? I got screwed my server broke and all the information was unbootable, I was about to finish in a psycho clinic. Data Recovery Corp made it up and put into the working order. Now my server serves me and my business again. So if somebody got a problem with the information reading and bad drives ?? let the professionals do it.

This place is a bit pricier than I would expect to pay for data recovery, but I do like the sales personnel and technician cooperation. All the process took 9 days, so it was quick, but the price of 599$ for a 260 Gb of music and photos is a bit biting :)

Honestly - never thought that it could happen to me - I had a back up external drive, and all the new information I backed up every week; but that happened - my external backup fall of the shelf and promising myself to buy a new one in about a months my laptop drown in the hot tub. So all of my i-tunes, pictures and documents disappear. So there was nothing to do, but go with the recovery of the drive, I send the drive to the Data Recovery Corporation, they diagnose it, gave me the fair price and recover all my backups. Now I don??t even need a backup drive, because I applied for a remote backup service they sell, so I backup all my information encrypted through the internet, which makes me happy!

I don't know how was it possible, but to my shame I put my external drive in to refrigerator for a couple of days, I was trying to hide it, and then when I took it out it was frozen, I had a whole bunch of important information there, and computer told me that it can't read it. So I decided to go with the recovery. It took about a week and a half, but all I needed was recovered, I don't know how the Datarecoverycorp team does that, it's a miracle for me!!! Appreciate everything your team did for me!!!

This company uses tactics straight from the textbook for used-car salesmen. They didn't stop trying to scam me from the moment I called them to the moment I picked up my (thankfully unmolested) hard drive.

I dealt almost entirely with "Tony" who tried to rob me in the following ways:
- he tried to get me to pay for expedited problem analysis when they had already analyzed the problem
- he made up some phony story about how the logical damage to the drive would require hours of "custom programming" that would bring the total bill to $1,485 (I was able to eventually solve the problem with non-custom recovery software)
- I balked at the $1,485, so Tony asked what my "target price" was (this is when I really knew I was being scammed). By "some miracle" he was able to meet my suggestion of $500 as long as I signed up for 3 months of their online data backup service.
- When I showed up to pick up my hard drive the next day (Tony said it would be ready for me), the receptionist claimed I needed to give them 24 hours notice so they could ship it back from their "clean room" in Chicago (I was at the Schaumburg, IL location). THEY DON'T HAVE A CLEAN ROOM IN CHICAGO!
- I demanded that she produce my hard drive or I wouldn't leave. I demanded to speak to Tony. He put me on hold while he was apparently communicating with the receptionist through IM. They got their stories straight and told me a courier would get it there in an hour and a half. I knew it was in the back room at that location, but I decided to let them save face from their lies. I came back in an hour and the receptionist handed the drive to me (mind you, this was during rush hour; there is no way anyone could get from Chicago to Schaumburg in one hour during that time of night in light snow).

Bottom line: This company will rip you off. They will lie to you. You cannot trust a word they say. Do you want to trust them with your precious data or give them any money? I don't either.

Good imagination. This review was posted by one of our competitors. This is so pathetic to use someone name in unfriendly competition...
.

This company is a complete joke, not only did they not recover any of my data they charged me money which they would not return despite their if we dont get the data we wont charge you. Apparently they have been doing this for years according to other reviews, here is a good example of one: http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/0/329/RipOff0329781.htm

I guess it proves that you should do your research before buying into Data Recovery Corp's scams and schemes. I have sent in complaints to the attorney general and the better business bureau, along with contacting my credit card company to dispute the charges and validate data recovery corporation, california data corp, florida data corp, first all data services, db investments, or whatever else this company wants to call itself. Supposedly they have many locations, so that they need new names, which seems very strane to me, but their websites are www.californiadatacorp.com www.datarecoverycorp.com and www.floridadatacorp.com and they also have a supposed location in New York, although when I called the incompetent idiot I talked to (named Tyler) actually hesitated when I asked him where the location was.

My hard disk failure was rather innocent. Unit would not come up - a couple of clicks and it would not reach proper rpm levels. I trusted this company based upon recommendations of PPA (Professional Photographers of America).
Shortly after the disk was received, I was requested to pay a non-refundable $245 to begin the process. A call 2 weeks later informed me that they could copy my files but couldn't open them (they're all simple jpeg files). I needed to authorize another $299 so that they could send it to their specialists in Canada who would probably be able to successfully retrieve my data. A call 2 weeks after that informed me that it was a total failure and did I want them to scrap my drive or return it to me...
Please learn from my $544 mistake.

Unprofessional ?? Do Not Use: I shipped my PC hard disk drive (HDD) to this company prior to reading the reviews. The HDD was shipped to the company in a box & packing designed for this hard drive. During the time the HDD was still in transit, I read the reviews and was alarmed at the number of negative reports, also, I noted one review indicating that the same company does business by two different names at two different street addresses, that are in fact the same location. I called the company and they confirmed the different names and address. During the same phone call, I requested that the company return my HDD upon receipt without conducting any work on the drive. I was assured that the company would not open the box my HDD was shipped in. A $25 shipping fee was paid to return my HDD which I have no issue with. Later that same day I received a confirmation phone call advising my HDD had just been received, and would be shipped back to me un-opened.

My HDD was returned to me in a modified yellow DHL box shipped 'Ground Pepaid'. The DHL box had been manually mauled down to roughly the size of my HDD, in which the HDD had been wrapped in a couple thin layers of small bubble size, packaging bubble wrap. The HDD was loose (free floating) inside the DHL box. The exterior of the DHL box had been completely incased in packing tape in a apparent attempt to force the box to remain smaller than designed. Printed on the side of the DHL box is a advisory that says in part: ??Do not use this box for these services: ?? The first service listed was ??Ground?.

I called the company this morning to complain. The company offered no explanation as to why my HDD had been repackaged [poorly] and, offered no remedies other than sending a note to their shipping department about my complaint.

In summary:
1) My HDD was shipped to the company in a box & packing designed for HDD.
2) Although assured otherwise, my HDD was repackaged, poorly, and shipped back to me.
3) There is a high probability that my HDD has suffered mechanical damage secondary to this event.

at first they seemed serious. once they had my hard drive, the promise of "no fix no charge" was gone. they would either bill me $540 regardless of fixing or not or they wouldn't return it to me.
I called for a whole week and could never have anything but an answering machine and they wouldn't return the call. When i finally dialed for the top service to recover in one hour a guy picked up and that's when my nightmare started. now they refuse to even tell me whether it's recoverable or not before i pay $540.
stay away from them.
