I ate there today. Unfortunately! The menus have many items in picture format and list main ingredients. At first our waiter was a young man, very good English obviously educated here, easy to talk to and understand. Before placing my order I asked if the crab was crab, imitation, crab, or crab mixed with mayonaise. I was told it was the imitation crab but no mayonaise. I asked if any of the rolls had mayonaise and was told no. We ordered a California Roll, Crunch Roll, and Disco Roll. At that point I told our waiter I was allergic to mayonaise and cream cheese and asked if any of them had mayo or cream cheese? He made a show of looking at each one on the menu and double checking and said No. When they came the crab looked ground up, I asked if there was Mayo. No, again. I ate the Ca. Roll and crunch roll as we waited for the Disco Roll (about 5 minutes behind the others. When it came it was creamy so I asked, this time a female waitress and she said that it was mayo. I told her I was allergic and had specifically told the other waiter no mayo. She sent it back and I asked for a clean plate and chop sticks since I was allergic and now there was mayo on them. She offered to redo it without mayo, which we okayed. I had to ask 3 more times for a plate and explain that the residue on the plate from the mayonaise would make me sick. 5 minutes later, and unable to eat (fortunately) since I had no plate or chop sticks, she came back and said the chef had said he couldn't do it because it was based on a California Roll and would fall apart without the mayonaise. I asked if the other two rolls I had eaten had had mayonaise and she said yes. I was panic stricken. Then she asked will you be ok? I said No. I told you I couldn't have it. She apologized as I was hastily downing Benadryl and looking for an epipen, just in case. They kindly brought me my bill so I could pay before rushing out to try to make it the hour home. They did not refill my drink during the 40 mins I was there or offer water. I had to drink out of my sons glasses to get meds down. They fully expected to me to pay for the priviledge of being lied to and made ill, which I did and was. As I left, I told her the male waiter who served us food with something I specifically said would make me severely ill, should be fired for lying and injuring a customer. They looked suprised. If you want someone to actually tell you accurately what is in the sushi rolls, would like your food wants/needs accomodated or assisted so you can choose food you will like or can eat safely, want the free refills on the drinks that they offer, want your food served at about the same time, want a plate if you don't have one, etc. then this is not the place for you. To get service you will have to wave at them a couple times as they walk by you. The food was pretty good but not worth the aggravation of bad service or in my case not worth the risk of anaphylaxsis. I usually love to eat at Asian and Sushi restaurants, there has never been a problem with leaving off the mayo of California rolls. These people just don't care and table service is terrible. Avoid!!!!!!

I think place is pretty good. Their portions are pretty generous, making their prices pretty reasonable. And generally speaking, they are fresh. Definitely great for a chain.

Niko Niko Restaurants are almost always good. DECOR: Very Plain, FOOD: Very Good. PARKING: Plentiful, SAUCES: Different from other locations (and not as good). SERVICE: Polite but not very attentive to you. RESTROOMS: Very Clean.

I am not a sushi snob. I ate the rolls at Todai. I ate at Nobu. I ate sushi at Sushi Zo. I liked them all, although I liked the latter much better.
That being said, I liked Niko Niko. I ate way more than I intended. Their mango ceviche, mango pieces mixed with sashimi, drizzled in sauce, was great and filling for an appetizer. I should've stopped here. However, I had a restaurant.com coupon, so I had to keep eating. Next came the cod baked in miso, it was excellent. The cod melted in my mouth, the miso sauce was slightly sweet, perfectly complimenting the cod. Lastly, was the huge chirashi bowl. For $16, it was awesome, it contained huge chunks of sashimi. Sashimi was thickly sliced, but that's okay, it tasted fresh. The seaweed salad and fresh vegetables in the chirashi bowl was good and made for a very hearty meal.
Overall, it was an excellent experience. It's a bit pricey without the coupon but it's worth it.
3.5 stars.

My friend's parents just opened this one up a couple years ago and they do a wonderful job with keeping up the Niko Niko reputation! The sushi here is always fresh and the rolls are unique and delicious! The decor is really nice in the interior, as it mixes Japanese styles with a more contemporary feel. Definitely a place to try out!

I think iv tried most of the items on there sushi menu and i cant really complain. i prefer to eat at the restaurant over getting take out. Food is presented really well. Safe is nice. Seating is bad. unless your down to sit at the bar, which is always an interesting time. Sake selection is pretty typical nothing special. For you vegetarians, they have 3-4 rolls that are surprisingly good for not having any meat in it.

Pros: Service, Appearance & Quality of Food

Cons: Space btwn tables,

I just went there one time for "pick up" food. We ordered the typical Japanese food, like California roll, eel rice bowl and teriyaki beef bowl. They all tasted "social", and this is the first time that my husband and children did not finish the Japanese food as they usually rush to eat them all. Maybe we demand too much because usually Japanese Restaurants have high quality, so we also expected too much. Sincerely speaking, we are quite disappointed, esp. after reading all these reviews and go there to try.

This newly-opened sushi joint is pretty popular in the Walnut/Rowland Heights area. They have a colorful variety of rolls ranging from Snow Cone Roll to their Spicy Scallop rolls. Most of the rolls are around 8-9 dollars, which isn't too bad. Their udon is really flavorful too, and I'm a pretty picky person when it comes to Udon noodles. The environment is really clean and sterile-looking, which is what I look for when it comes to sushi places.
