The thing about fine dining is that it's the ultimate form of democracy -- establishments rise and fall according to their ability to please the masses, and Woodhousde Fish Co pleases indeed.

The room is understated but grand at the same time. Despite the place being full, it felt like we were the only ones there, and the wait staff was lovely - present, attentive, but not intrusive or pushy.

The food was flawless - a foie gras torchon with fig still brings tears of ecstasy to my eyes. The diver scallops with celery root puree and dates were full of brine and snap, like an ocean wave blowing through the restaurant. Even the bread tray -- yes, it's a tray of 4-5 varieties of warm rolls, delicately served with silver tongs - was fantastic. The dessert amuse bouche of cookies and pate de fruit and truffles was the perfect way to end this dinner experience.

Sometimes one just needs an escape from reality. I suggest Woodhouse Fish Co as your destination.

I have tried this place twice as it looked cool from the outside. I have been disappointed both times. When I ordered the fried clams the tartar sauce was just mayonaise with nothing else I could find in it. The service is unfortunatley

Pros: excellent food, nice central location in sf

Cons: if you aren't one of the neighborhood guys, you are apparently "out of the club"

Well, I must say that I am highly dissapointed to return here for dinner and hear that the smiley guy with the glasses and accent is no longer there. How can a place trying to represent a New England style restaurant have no employees

Excellent Seafood. The chowder, lobster, and crab-stuffed artichoke are delicous. Much like its casual New England inspired interior suggests, its menu is characteristically well-prepared and tasty.

Make sure to start with the chowder and finish with the lobster. Good call. Also, try and sit Dylan down (hes the owner) for an interesting conversation

This is what a true san francisco restaurant is supposed to be like... great seafood and great ambiance. This is the perfect brunch spot, it is super relaxed but still has that clean look, and I love the bowls the oysters are served in.

This place is INCREDIBLE! I never thought the west coast could harness the magic of New England seafood. Not only was my cup of CLAM CHOWDER the best I've had in the west, but it was the best I've had ever! And my meal of ARTICHOKE split

Great atomosphere with a great view of the city streets in one of the best parts of San Fran. Have the crab sandwich if your hungry, very satisfying!
