I'm sorry, but the last time I was in Jersey, Philly, or New York. . . not only was the bread a nice hard role, sliced not quite through, bread pulled out to make room for: a) a well balanced portion of quality meat, not compressed turkey elements, cappicola like turkey bacon, and salami discs like food dyed frisbees b) sharp provolone, c) artfully and loosely smattered oil, salt and pepper, not a delicatessen bukkake of mystery "juice,". . . . but the people behind the counter with the bad attitudes had a reason to feel as such. Why? BEACUSE THEY WERE WORKING THEIR ASSES OFF FOR PEANUTS! Feeding everyone from the white curtain crowd to street junkies, turning out high quality product with expert skill and a perhaps a little bravado and edge. This is not the case in the case at Malibu Mike's and the original signage is a misnomer. Your price's are high. Your quality is moderate. Your authenticity is garbage. Take a look around you. . . Maybe hang up a few surf boards, recommend a sandwich with pineapple in it and have me check out the new "VegaMenu" because whatever east coast roots you had are dead.

Honestly, it is worth paying way too much money for a poor sandwich just to see how serious the guy behind the counter takes his job... he throws salt and pepper shakers around like Tom Cruise in Cocktail. Reader beware: don't question his sandwich making abilities or you will be challenged to eat something on the menu that you will still be charged for. Coglin's law: just make the sandwich as fast as you can so I may make some money back for my time because $9 for your sub was painful enough.
