My first experience at Mikuni's was at this location...what fun! Yes, it was a long wait...but it was a Saturday night.
Yes, it was pretty expensive...but it was worth it. It was here that I first discovered the Marilyn Monroll. What a great discovery, it's become one of my favorite specialty rolls!

Mikuni's has the best Sushi in Sacramento. It has a great atmosphere - service is good. You will almost always have a wait, which kinda sucks, but they do their best to get you in. The Downtown location is the funniest location. It is within walking distance to clubs, bars and places to get a cup of coffee. Go Mikuni's.

I love Mikuni's. We first started going to the one in Roseville but the one downtown is my favorite. The vibe is always fun and we usually go with a large group and they are always accommodating. The wait staff is always nice and I even got to spin the wheel on my birthday and got a bag of rice. You have to try the incredible roll, it is truly incredible and the seared tuna steak is amazing!

I had heard so many good things about this place and was totally disappointed. First, we were told we would only have to wait 10 minutes for our party of 4 for a table. It took 35 for us to be seated. Our table was small and we were crowded by the other tables. It was so loud we had to shout at each other to be heard. We got the potstickers and they tasted like they were from a frozen foods section at a grocery store. I ordered a bento combo with chicken, salmon, and tempura. My meat was so overcooked it wasn't edible. I stuck my chopstick in my salmon and I could lift it up and it wouldn't flake. My tempura was cold. My friend ordered sushi and her seaweed was stale. Another friend ordered sashimi and he said it tasted good, but it was a really small portion. The only member of our party that was happy ordered udon. I would not recommend eating here - does not live up to the hype. Our waitress was nice, though.

Cons: everything else

Went for dinner on a Thurs and was treated to a 1 hr wait for a table and then when we were finally seated in an almost empty dining area!! WTH?! Waitress told us that it was because they were short on staff. Uh. Huh. Noticed that the bar was fully staffed though. Then we waited another hour for the food. The sushi was OKbut sooo not worth the wait and price tag.

Be warned the douche factor is extremely high here. Tons of people here soley to see and be seen at the bar. Also the food caters to the "i like my sushi cooked" crowd. Head elsewhere for authentic Japanese food.

Mikuni's is a great place to have sushi. Their sushi platters are great if you're looking something to share with a few friends. The other rolls are great also if you are looking for something just for yourself. I have driven from Stockton just to eat at this place.

Mikuni's is a great place to have some wonderful rolls. My fave is the Peter 2 Roll and the Santa Claus. But if you're looking for a quiet place to enjoy a social exchange, this isn't the best place. Mikuni's is always packed and crowded with the tables placed very close to one another. But, if you don't mind a lively atmosphere, then this is a great place to enjoy delicious rolls at fair prices. (I really, really like their rolls - so much to choose from.)

PROS: Delicious rolls with many choices available
CONS: Crowded and packed
