Ratings_icons My New Thai Spa

Michellek

My new favorite spa! I usually go to Burke Williams or hotel spas.. I am a little tight with money right now so was looking for a cheaper place. I was scared at first ..But I will come here more often ! The place is nice and clean .. I love the room layout. The massage was great! They are very strong but you can ask for less pressure. I loved the massage technique ..The only thing I wish they had is steam and sauna.. but the massage was so good I don't really care. I highly recommend

Pros: great massage, clean, flexible

Cons: location

Ratings_icons Misleading Massage Prices

DaleMartinsr

Our experience at Bangkok Thai Spa started off pleasant, but after nice massage when it was time to pay, they have a sign that says "we suggest that you tip masseuse $10 - $15 per hour of massage" but they actually DEMAND it. A lady stood there and rudely argued that we cannot leave a $10 and demanded $15 each from us....she was very rude....nice massage but be ready to pay your REQUIRED tip. We were a little late getting to our hotel, so we call Bangkok to move our appointment for a couples massage from 6:00pm to 6:30 pm.....they said no problem, but when we got there, they told us that we would have to be in separate rooms due to the change. MAKE SURE THAT YOU ASK QUESTIONS UP FRONT!!!

Pros: GOOD MASSAGE

Cons: misleading, too many surprises

Ratings_icons For the price you can get a great massage

Every time that I have gone there the service has been great and professional. I have been going there for about a year and a half, every 1 to 2 months, and have never had an experience even remotely similar to the one written by the previous reviewer. In regards to the music, I have never been in there when R&B is playing.....or anything other than typical relaxing spa music. Also, I have never obtained an injury from there. If the masseuse is rubbing hard enough to cause injury, a sensible person would have probably told them to ease up. I have been in the single room, as well as the double room with my boyfriend (like the previous reviewer did with her mother) and had no problem with talking, joking, cleanliness of the rooms, or anyone being unprofessional. If the previous experience written about by the reviewer is true, then it is unfortunate and out of character for this great little massage place. However, don't expect to get the works at a place where you are paying $45 for an hour massage, or $65 for an hour and a half. It is what it is.

Pros: Great cheap massage with friendly staff. Clean.

Cons: The walls are thin. Not all people whisper.

I decided to take my mom to this spa for Mothers Day. We have both had massages in the past and we were very excited because of the reasonable rates and the reviews on this site. When we go there we were surprised to see that the location was nothing like the website. It was a very dirty store front and it was difficult to find. We decided to go in anyway, seeing as we had an appointment, and give it a try. When we walked in, there was an overwhelming smell of food that had obviously just been reheated in the microwave.

We were eventually asked to go into a room with two beds (we thought we were getting separate massages) and disrobe. We changed and were surprised to find out that the music they had playing was far from the typical spa soundtrack. In fact it was very distracting, loud R&B and rap. We were really disappointed but hopeful that the massage would be wonderful. Two women walked in, started to give us our massages and then began talking at a low whisper. I didn't mind at all, I was still fairly relaxed. And then the talking level increased significantly and continued for the rest of our massage. The two women giving us our massage spoke Thai through the whole massage. I don't really have too much room left so let me sum it up for you!

- Dirty Exterior
- Dirty Interior ( I don't know why the reviews said "very Clean")
- Terrible lingering odor of food (Even in the massage room. No candles or air freshener)
- Women doing the massage talked the entire time in Thai and very loudly joking and laughing
- I was in pain for a week
- My mom was in pain for three weeks. She even had to wear a back brace for two weeks
- Played loud R&B music and some rap during the massage
- Doesn't look ANYTHING like the website!!!!!

ALL IN ALL ****DO NOT GO HERE***** It's dangerous and just an all around terrible experience. Trust me! I don't really know who wrote the previous reviews but they were very misleading!

Ratings_icons Great Place for A Massage

newatthis1

I have had many massages in Thailand. I have been very pleased with the many that I have received here. They are truly authentic; as good or better than massages in Thailand. I have had massages from several different therapists and all were excellent, Nattaya, the owner, was especially good. The spa is clean and the ambience is quiet, relaxing, and definitely Thai. The staff was friendly, the prices were reasonable. There was plenty of available street parking - something that has been a problem for me at other local spas. I have referred several friends and they have been very pleased with the services and personal care they received. I highly recommend the Bangkok Thai Spa.

Pros: Great massage, good personalized service, very clean, resonably priced

Cons: None

Ratings_icons An incredible touch of Thailand, here in Santa Monica

deanospizza911

How do you create of mix of a great atmosphere, great customer service, great massage?? Ask Natia, the owner of this meticulously maintained den of zen, because she has the recipe for a great business. I have tried a couple of the massage artists and am thoroughly satisfied as they put such an effort to give me what I need in a massage. The facility is so clean, neat and well privatized that I give it a 10!! You cant go wrong with this place, so give it a whirl.

Pros: great experience all around

Cons: know of none

Ratings_icons Better than massages I got in Bangkok

AuthenticWestHollywood

I'm not big on massages. During my first trip to Thailand two weeks ago, I had a Thai and aromatherapy message in Bangkok. They were good and inexpensive.
However, the massage I got last week at "Bangkok Thai SPA" was GREAT!
The place was clean, people friendly, and the massage very good.

Ratings_icons WILL NEVER GO BACK. They forced me to give over a 20% tip as a minimum. BAD FORM.

ravendreamer

I'm so disappointed because I will probably NEVER go back now. After an hour and a half massage for $65 which was pretty ok for the price, I went to give a $13 tip which is 20% for a no frills massage. The receptionist said "NO, the minimum tip is $15 so I am charging $80 to your card." It wasn't a suggestion, it was a statement. I was appalled. A tip should be at the discretion of the customer NOT the receptionist. Too bad because I thought I had found a convenient place to get facials and massages and even though there is nothing special about it, I understood the pricing. It was $2 more than what I was giving but the point was that I shouldn't be forced to give a certain amount of a tip if it is a tip and not the price. 20% is generous enough. The last time I was there, I gave a 33% tip because the massage therapist/facialist took an extra ten minutes with me to make sure my tension headache was gone. That was beyond generous but reflective of her extra care. They just lost a good 2 times a week customer due to bad customer service and even worse form. NEVER AGAIN.***UPDATED RESPONSE. Thanks for taking the time to respond. A tip is at the discretion of the customer defined as a small present of money given directly to someone for performing a service. While other spas may charge $90, please note that they include the perks of an actual spa such as a eucalyptus steam room and/or a Jacuzzi, showers, robes, slippers, toiletries and other amenities which you DO NOT provide. Your argument forcing clients to pay 25% more to assure the therapist in your no frills establishment is entirely inappropriate. As you stated, $2 should not be anything to be mad about, however, I find if this were truly the case, your receptionist wouldn't have forced me to give her $2 more therefore voiding the gift aspect of your argument in an attempt to belittle me for ONLY giving your therapist 20% or else they would say, as you put it, "UGH, not this person again." NEVER AGAIN!

Pros: No frills massage and facials available.

Cons: Force you to give over a 20% tip as a minimum on top of the price.

Ratings_icons Amazing Massage and super cool owner!

danmar22

First of all, the therapist was AMAZING and FANTASTIC. So nice and personable. Secondly, the massage was excellent and she gave me a discount because it was my first time and went well over the alloted time. I was so impressed. Don't be fooled by the exterior - it's next to some auto shop or something, but park in the back and get ready for major bliss inside. The price won't break your bank either. Sometimes I feel sore the next day after a thai massage - not so with this one, which was surprising because I know she went a little deep in some areas. She also gave a thing of tiger balm because she knew it would help my cold and had a hot green tea waiting for me after I got dressed. This is probably THE MOST SATISTIFIED I've ever been walking out of a place, knowing my money was well spent. It's one of those places that you don't want to tell people about, because it's a secret you'll covet. But, alas, the owner is too darn sweet to not spread the word about this magnificent place. I know I'm gushing and sound like a freaking chick...but I can't help it.

Pros: fantastic service

Cons: a tad difficult to find

Ratings_icons BEST THAI MASSAGE SPA

bmeepos

hi all, this is my first time ever writing an email review, so please be supportive in my attempt to become a professional critic. Bangkok Thai Spa is simply subperb. I met the owner, Nattia (God only knows how to spell it) at her prior establishment. When she builtout and opened her own place close to both my office and my home, I had no choice but to give it a try. In a word, the place is GREAT.

I am the managing partner of a MDR CPA firm and have been sending my clients, family and friends
there ; always with the upmost gratitude. All of us have been to the fancy SPAs throughout the world, but
the Price/Value factor here is beyond compare. If you question the sanitary conditions, I can provide indisputable evidence - my wife, daughters, and other assorted sanitary freaks are frequent patrons.

My most significant advice is that you absolutely inform the massage therapist both in advance and throughout the session as to what style of treatment you desire. I go there weekly and I constantly change the program. Sometimes hard, sometimes soft, sometimes only a specific body part (like my sore left hamstring). Every girl there has accomadated my requests with a smile. They leave with a $20 tip and I leave feeling rejuvenated.

I ask every one of you, what can you do in this world for a reasonable price that leaves you so satisfied? I think this is the ultimate pleasure (leaving out tantric activites and the like). So my buddy Bruce and I were there on saturday, can anyone think of a reason that I shouldn't go there on Sunday after a two hour bike ride? I can't. I now only need to decide between Natiya's fun and firm full body traditional, Alicia's strong hands of wonder and Joy's deep penetrating elbows.
what great choices. BANKOK THAI MASSAGE ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ratings_icons Best Professional massage in L.A.!

xboi

I have searched far and wide for the authentic, professional Thai massage in L.A. Well, I am happy to report I found it! The atmosphere is clean, quiet, and calming. The staff is very well trained in all aspects and techniques of massage. The price is the best in Los Angeles. 1 hour at this spa takes me away from my high stress job and life. I leave feeling relaxed. I go every week . Love it!

Pros: Clean. Calming atmosphere. Professionally trained staff. On time for scheduled appointments. Great value.

Cons: none

Ratings_icons worst thai massage in LA

seeyouinla

I have had many massages....Thai and otherwise from Korean Town to Burk Williams.
This is the first time ever I was injuried while getting a massage. This place should be avoided unless you like bruises. Not very customer friendly and the owner is completely stressed out and in a hurry. In addition I had to wait 20mins in the massage room before they came to massage me.I would highly recommend going somewhere else.

Pros: none

Cons: skill, service,ambience

Wow!! just found this amazing day spa / massage studio in Santa Monica, went in the other day for the first time to get a massage and it was INCREDIBLE... I got the type of massage which the receptionist told me was a combination of Thai massage, Swedish, Deep Tissue and Yoga Stretches and let me tell you, you have never experience a massage until you try this place, just AMAZING. The price was $45 for a full hour which is very cheap, I pay $65 for a 1.5 hours. The staffs were very friendly and very professional, the place was very clean with very relaxing atmosphere and decor. Love this place!!! next time I'm going to try their Facial and Herbal Body Scrub.

Pros: Price, convenient, staffs, friendly, etc. etc. etc.

Cons: NONE none NONE

Ratings_icons This place has really done downhill

jp90291

A while ago I wrote a rave review, but my mind has been changed by the last three times I've visited this place. Each time something very unprofessional happened, and at first I thought it was a fluke, but after three times, I can't help but think it's the place itself, mostly the attitude of the people who work there. Firstly, I was getting massaged and I heard the receptionist fighting with a customer -- not just a disagreement, but an actually yelling expletives and threats at each other. Not relaxing at all. Secondly, when I was getting a massage, I heard a very low murmuring. When I opened my eyes, I realized that the massage therapist was talking on her phone while giving me a massage. Thirdly, with a different massage therapist, I noticed that she was only using one hand, so I turned around and saw that while she was massaging me with one hand, she was texting with the other. All of these incidents have made me realize that this place is no longer worth it. I left more stressed than when I had come in. Do not go here.

Pros: inexpensive

Cons: unprofessionalism
