As a commercial diver, and PADI Divemaster, I've seen some crummy operations, but this place is jaw-droppingly bad, from top to bottom.

My wife was trying to get her openwater certification... Nothing complicated, right? Wrong. Here's the nutshell version:

1.) Nobody EVER called us back. In almost two months of trying to schedule appointments with an instructor, and dozens of messages, NOT ONE return call.

2.) The classroom protion was a joke. The instructor handed my wife a book, a DVD, and a test. No "instruction" took place at all.

3.) In the pool, my wife wanted to use her own mask, instead of a rental. The instructor wouldn't let her, and told her it "would take too long to get the mask ready." (3 minutes. Wow.)

4.) In openwater, the instructor FAILED TO PROPERLY WEIGHT HIS STUDENT, and when she was too bouyant to submerge, he ACTUALLY TRIED TO PULL HER UNDERWATER. When that failed, he PUTS HIS HANDS ON HER SHOULDERS AND TRIED TO FORCE HER UNDER. ...All the while, telling her that "if she could just get under, she'd be fine..." Needless to say, she was freaked out.

5.) We requested a refund. After months of back-and-forth, we were told that "our invoice had been lost."

6.) Finally, we were offered a "full refund," and when it was sent (via "Paypall", so that they wouldn't incur any negative marks, or fees from Visa, I presume) it was for only 2/3 of what we were charged. ...See, the owner/manager/whatever promised a full refund (we paid $399.00), and then only refunded $299... With me, guys? Lost invoice? Owner didn't know we were charged more? It sure looks like they charged her $100.00 more than they should've, and actually STOLE MY WIFE'S MONEY!

7.) After we asked, "Hey, where'd that $100.00 go?" ....Then, they stopped talking to us altogether...

My family and I love the outdoors and have taken several kayaking trips with the Oex Diver & Kayak Center. They've always done such a great job for us. The guys who work there really take care of their guests and cater to you. We've never been unhappy with them.
