My iPod contained almost 5000 songs when it died and I had no back up. Needless to say, I was devastated. The apple centre wasn't able to help and the iPod was out of warranty.
Thankfully I came across California Data Recovery Services that were able to recover every single song, including songs I had previously deleted.
The job was done promptly, inexpensively (considering what was at stake) and I was frequently updated on progress.
Highly recommended.

When my portable hard drive started making ominous clicking sounds instead of spinning up, I was pretty much resigned to the fact that I had lost over 1000 irreplaceable holiday and family history photos as well as my family history data files and my recently updated work files.
On returning home, I called several different computer consultants who all said that my data was gone for good when I described the symptoms.
With a bit of searching I came across California Data Recovery Services and I sent them an email outlining my situation. Almost immediately they got back to me and I sent off the broken drive.
Within a few weeks (as I live in Los Angeles) I was viewing all of the files and photos that I never expected to see again.
The guys at California Data Recovery Services are a professional outfit. The service was swift and friendly with regular updates on progress. You don't often get customer service like this.

I run a successful IT business in the Los Angeles area. Recently I had a client who reported to me a complete boot failure of his laptop. On investigation I found the hard disk to be a fault and on removal found that the disk casing was physically twisted due to the method of carrying his laptop. I did not hold much hope but managed to recover a small portion of his data until the disk failed beyond my capabilities to restore.
Unfortunately most of the critical data was unrecoverable and since he is an Economics professor and the laptop had not been backed up since submission and marking this years exams and papers, we had to investigate alternatives.
I submitted the disk to California Data Recovery Services and they managed to recover the vast majority of the data off the disk that was so badly damaged that it took more that 4 weeks to run the complete process.
At all stages I had the option to stop the recovery and take what data was available but due to the irreplaceable nature of the data we decided to let it run its course.
California Data Recovery Services went well above and beyond what could be expected for the price and we are extremely happy with the results and service. Thats not to mention to relief of not having to tell a few hundred students they will not be getting their university exam marks this year.

When our Lacie hard drive started smoking, we knew we were in trouble! Lacie suggested California Data Recovery Services as a company who may be able to help us rescue the important information the hard drive held.
California Data Recovery Services explained clearly our options, and kept us updated throughout the process. All of our data was successfully recovered, so obviously we were very relieved!

My brother's hard disk was inflicted by viruses. He then accidentally formatted the drive. The data stored over the past few years which were very important to him were thought to have gone forever. We were really frustrated until we came to California Data Recovery Services for help.

After upgrading to Vista our spare HD with all of our photos, videos, files suddenly crashed. I took the HD out of the desktop and brought it into work for the IT guys to check out.
In the process the unit was knocked off my desk and the IT guys couldn't get the disk to mount at all. Looked around for ages on the internet and must have called a half dozen firms for indicative quotes.
Was shocked to hear the cost $1,500+ so when I came across the 'economy' service offering at California Data Recovery Services, I went over to chat it through with them and was greatly re-assured so left it for an evaluation.
They quickly determined it was a software related issue so at the bottom end of the pricing range and we agreed for the recovery to proceed based on an estimate of $250 - $600.
Final price was $350 which was excellent given they were in a position to probably charge at the higher end given my lack of options!! Work was completed and we had our HD backed-up within a couple of days - excellent given the economy option we chose. Very happy indeed, the wife is ecstatic to have our cherished photos & vids back and I would highly recommend to anyone sweating on where to take their HD for recovery."

Malfunctioning DVDs was not something I had come across before and so didn't even know they could fail until I had placed complete faith in them. I had confidently backed up my computer and all of its contents on to two separate DVDs and I began to strip my computer.
The discs it turned out, had not burnt properly, but as no error message had been received, I was not aware until I tried to reload the information on to my computer and discovered that the discs were faulty.
California Data Recovery Services worked on the discs until the contents were retrieved and basically saved my business. As a sole trader with a new business of 6-months it was vital that I had the records restored.
California Data Recovery Services understood my needs and took the time to identify the problems professionally and in a timely manner.

While our IT guys were installing my wife's new work system I asked them to have a look at the home PC that had been performing erratically. They took it away and I expected to hear back about some minor problem. Instead they said the hard disk had crashed and despite all their best efforts they couldn't fix the problem. While my wife and I have backup systems for our work PCs we had nothing similar for the home PC. This was not good news.
There was a long history of home related correspondence and documents and a large collection of photos taken by our two daughters that were saved on this computer.
Our IT guys recommended California Data Recovery Services, so I took the hard drive over to Fairfax location hoping for the best.
As it turned out I was not disappointed with California Data Recovery Services being able to recover everything. They put it on an external drive, which is now the backup, and all ended well.

I found California Data Recovery Services to be highly efficient, professional, and gave great customer service. Within 36 hours of a system failure we had our data recovered from the server, restored and installed. This was despite the geographic issue of being some 270 miles between ourselves and California Data Recovery Services, and the fact that the server was shipped back on a Friday afternoon. Excellent service.

I was trying to clear up some space on my computer and deleted a bunch of files I had floating around that were taking up a bunch of space. I wasn't sure what they were for. But it turns out they were kind of important! Apparently they were required for my wife's accounting software to run. It was a big deal for us - we needed to restore those files ASAP.
I know that deleting a file doesn't necessarily destroy the actual data, so I didn't lose hope yet. I tried some things first - there are programs out there that promise to restore deleted files. But nothing worked. So we decided to let California Data Services have a try. We explained the problem, and they got to work.
They were able to fix the problem quite easily, it seems. They called the next day to say they found the deleted files and had them restored. The software started working as if nothing happened!

We had a power outage occur in the middle of a large transfer operation that resulted in a large loss of data. The data was not intact in neither the source nor the destination, both were corrupt. This would have been a disaster if the data were not recovered. However, we called California Data Services who helped us get the data back. We had somewhat of a special case since the transfer operation literally happened mid file. Thankfully however, the guys at California Data Services knew their stuff and helped us reattach the split archive and we now have it back! We recomend California Data Services, thank you!

We recently had an earthquake induced power outage that ended up corrupting all the data on our server. It was critical that we get it back because we recently updated the content and a lot of the code, all in all 2 weeks of work lost, and the server was down, too, so users could not access our site. What a complete disaster! We contacted California Data Services right away, told them it was an emergency, and they drove to us to pick up the server. 7 hours later, our precious work was recovered, the server was up and running, and it was business as usual again! Thank you California Data Services!

The California Data Recovery Service's website says that expedited service costs $799. I had a $120 Western Digital 500GB external hard drive fail on me and I had to find someone to recover the data immediately, so I agreed to the $799 express service fee. Two days later, I am into California Data Recovery for nearly $6,000. The quotes for the recovery kept escalating until I got the final invoice, which was for more than $4,000. Unless you've got the combination to the vault in Fort Knox on your hard drive, I would recommend going somewhere else to get your data recovered. Personally, I wonder how many of the reviews on this and other websites were written by the people at CDRS. The same reviews are repeated everywhere and NONE of them mention cost at all. The bottom line is that I was totally unprepared for the final cost of this data recovery because I was never told it would be even close to this amount. In fact, I thought the original $799 fee covered everything but the new hard drive.
Pros: Service was as promised and all data was recovered.

I found California Data Recovery Services on an internet search, along with many other companies. I read up on a few companies and California Data Recovery Services offered the best price for guaranteed data recovery.
We sent our drive off and had a response of a successful data recovery within 48 hours. We had our data back to us within a week.

When my IBM laptop failed to boot up, my heart sank. My friend's IT technician was quick to advise me that my Hard Drive was damaged and the data could not be accessed. I bought a new laptop as it was time to upgrade, but I was devastated that I had lost all my personal files and about 3 years of photos.

We needed to recover a complete laptop HDD for one of our users. We had explored a range of recovery options but found none that were successful. I then approached California Data Recovery Services.
The service I found from California Data Recovery Services was excellent and they provided a free quote to assess the damaged drive. Once we gave the OK to recover the data, the turn around time was very, very quick ensuring we had all critical documents available in a timely manner.

We had two hard disc failures - the on-board disc on our Mac iBook, and our backup disc. Our Apple dealer was unable to solve the problem, and recommended California Data Recovery Services.
They managed to recover all the data from the backup disc, and offered advice on accessing files that showed up in an unfamiliar form. What would have been (for us) a catastrophic data-loss was transformed, thanks to California Data Recovery Services into a minor inconvenience (loss of time and some extra work copying files from DVD to hard disc and accessing them).

Like any other day I shut down my laptop and external drive to continue video editing later that night home, only this time the drive refused to mount and just sat and flashed it's light at me. As luck would have it, that drive not only contained the current video project but also thousands of photos that had I had never quite got around to backing up...

After a recent move I turned my external hard disk on and ?Pop?, no go. A strong burning plastic smell filled my room. My hard disk would not work. Oh no, I thought, all the hard labour and time spent moving all my records to MP3 files and they were all stored on my hard disk.

Everybody knows that hard drives fail, and when one half of a pair failed a couple of months ago I thought I would risk it on one for a while. Of course shortly after this the second failed silently and without warning. I had a figure of at least a thousand pounds for hard drive recovery, and had given up when a friend pointed me in the direction of California Data Recovery Services. After taking the drive there, I got a phone call a couple of days later telling me they had an exact clone of my drive ready for collection. I had expected a bill of many hundreds for hard drive recovery, so was rather relieved to get the job done so quickly for a fraction of that cost. Sometimes the impossible is possible, and California Data Recovery Services proved this by restoring 100% of our data, which we feared had been lost for ever. California Data Recovery Services successfully recovered all data from a failed 4 drive RAID 5 array, of which: One drive was physically missing, 2 drives were completely failed, and the third drive was 70% failed. To make matters even more impressive, the recovery was performed over Christmas, proving to us the dedication to their work and customers is truly world class.
