This is an epic customer service failure and deserves your attention before doing
business with Nancy from Peekaboo Playland. I've never made a bad review online. I
acknowledge the fact of the existence of internet review sites, and thought businesses
have learned their lessons in providing good customer service; otherwise, bad reviews
will be written for everybody to see. Apparently, Peekaboo did not figure this out.

We were big fans of Peekaboo Playland. I lived around Eagle Rock for a long time and
was really happy to see a place that will give Gymboree a run for its money right in our
neighborhood. There was a lot of thought put into the design for children and parents
to enjoy. The party staff was very helpful and nice. We've been to three parties at
Peekaboo playland and because of pictures I posted on Facebook, a friend had her son's
party 2 months ago, and another was interested for this December. We gave both parents
good referrals.

Peekaboo sounds like a great place, right? Not until we got a chance to talk to Nancy,
(manager?) - never met this woman, probably because she was always on vacation in hell.
We planned on having our son's 3rd birthday scheduled for November. We quickly put our
down payment of $162.50 in August to reserve the date.

October came and our plans suddenly took a change. We now want to back-out from the
date and instead of November, we want to change the date to January for our eldest son's
birthday. The flyer we got on the day we reserved the November party back in August
said "A ONE-MONTH NOTICE IS REQUIRED TO RECEIVE A REFUND OR TO RESCHEDULE". Since its
only the 2nd of October, we are well over a month in advance. We talked to Nancy and
she informed us that it is their policy NOT TO ISSUE REFUNDS OR RESCHEDULE AND THAT THE
FLYER THAT THEIR ASSOCIATE PROVIDED BACK IN AUGUST WAS NOT THE CORRECT ONE. Shame on us
for not demanding the most up-to-date flyer!!! Nancy also added that we should have
checked our receipts. The only problem I see here is that receipts are printed after
payment, so even if we demanded for a refund 2 minutes after payment, we were out of
luck!

She did send an apology thru email, read below the copy pasted email:

"Please accept my apology. I am very sorry to have upset the two you. We know that you
do not agree with are policies and for what ever reason you overlooked them during the
booking of your party, I know that this can sometimes be the case for people to do that.
I am willing to reschedule your party in January, because on a human level I can
understand where you both are coming from. If you are still willing reschedule your
party it will be my pleasure to make that possible for you both."

And again, shame on me for overlooking and not demanding for an updated flyer! Its
every consumers responsibility according to Nancy to be wary on the flyers Peekaboo
provides! With this embarassment, I declined her gracious, most humanitarian level to
reschedule our party for January. I told her, as payment for our shameful deed, she can
keep our $162.50 we paid for reservations and promised to read receipts from hereon.
One question though, why didn't she allow us to reschedule the party in the first place?

I had a horrible experience here today. It is not about how good or bad the place is structurely. It is about how they treat a person. They treat people unequally and they discriminate!!!
Today was a holiday, so I took my daughter along with my husband to this place for a special fun day. When I walked in, I was told that I had to wear socks. When I told her I didn't have one, she asked me to buy their socks for $2. And if I didn't, I couldn't be able to enter this place. Well, i respected their rule because i thought that it would keep the kids from getting any skin illness. So I bought the ugly cheap looking socks for $2.
However, after an hour or so, I realized so many people came in with their bare feet. I was just curious to know why???? the rule was not reinforced on other people but me. When I asked, i was told that all other people didn't have to wear socks because they came in recommaned by Nancy(the owner). Well......what's the purpose of wearing socks? if people were recommanded by Nacy, are their feet clean? However, when I asked, nobody knew who Nancy was. I was lied to. Hmmmm... why? I don't know. So I asked if I could talk to Nancy. After she talked to Nancy on the phone for a long time secretly, she started handing out everyone else socks for free. Hmmmm... why?
When I asked her why i should be the only one paying for the socks and if I could get my money back, she simply said "No" and no apologize.
Apparently, other moms there told me that they visited here many times and were never asked to wear socks before. And they received free socks today.....
What's going on in this place? I just felt so discriminated and insulted at this place. Am I not as clean as others for my skin color or what???
Please treat others as you would want to be treated and equally!!!

Okay, went to the new Peekaboo Playland today and absolutely LOVED IT!! There is sooooo much more room for my kids to run around now. I love how the dress up area is separated from the kitchen, from the game room, etc. The new birdhouse/slide is a lot of fun and wears my kids out too. (I don't know what these other folks are complaining about. If you have little wee ones you have to watch them closely just as you would at the jungle gym at the park. This will always be a problem when there are other kids around so just watch your kids) My boy thrilled to have more room ride the trike around and also play hide and go seek. We spent a much longer time here than we ever have because it seemed like there was more to do because of the extra space. Bravo to Nancy and Marcel for taking the giant step and moving to such a great location. I seriously hated the parking at the old place and having to play win the lotto with parking spaces. I'd rather pay an old meter for 2 hours than have to push a stroller with 2 kids up that Eagle Rock hill. I am having our next birthday party here again because now it's brand new once again. Yay for change! PS. Pay no mind to the hater of Peekaboo. She is an angry woman who is spamming all the websites badmouthing Peekaboo for the ticket she got from her expired meter. Not very nice of her. The folks at Peekaboo are great. Go visit and see for yourself.

My kids and I really love the new location. We use to go to the old one and have almost outgrown it.
I am glad that Peekaboo is growing with us. The new space is amazing and completely safe as far as this mom is concerned.

The new location is completed and beautiful now! Love the new space and play structure and separate play rooms! It is much better than the old smaller location and is so convenient and close to swork and coffee table that you can really make a day out of going there. It's good to see that a local business is growing in this economy too - congratulations Peekaboo! There is more to do here for older kids besides the bounce house...there are 2 new slides on a really cool play structure and lots more room to run around. I highly recommend Peekaboo!!

Peekaboo just opened in their new space this week, and we stopped by during their "soft-opening" to check it out. It's fantastic -- the space (which sat vacant for so long) is beautiful -- high ceilings, great balconys, plenty of natural light. The staff have created a great "treehouse" type play structure in the middle with fun climbing steps, a cozy hiddy hole and two slides. It wasn't quite painted when we went, but it looks like a big bird of some sort...

They've used the space creatively. There are now little rooms for playing, like the "bistro" area where all the play kitchen equipment is, a comfy reading room where all the smaller toys are stored, and a play dress-up area tucked away in the back. The bouncy house is still there, as is the ball pit and the train table, but there's a new playhouse as well.

The music was great as always, great mixes of contemporary stuff both my son and I can enjoy.

Looks like they might use the upstairs balconies for classes, or chatting areas for parents. Overall, i think it's a great step up in the world of indoor playgrounds.

With two great coffee houses and several restaurants just steps away, we'll be "doing lunch" at Peekaboo often. I was never a member before, prefering to pay as I go, but I think we'll become Peekaboo's newest clients!

Quite disappointed to see that their first review was a negative one -- sounds like someone was just mad at her own neglect to read the street signs. Her comments regarding safety, I felt, were unfounded. I check things over pretty throughly whereever we go, and I saw no hazards at all. Regarding her comments about it being for kids under three, I disagree. The new structure is geared toward older kids with the new tunnel slide. And I noticed some new games such as Twister just waiting to be played...

I'm giving it high marks! Great job, you guys!

Beware, Peekaboo Playland has moved into a new space (2030 Colorado as of 6/16/2009) that is half-finished, unsafe and thoroughly unenjoyable for kids over 3. What used to be a great indoor playground has now turned into a badly designed and overpriced rip-off. The parking situation is actually worse than it was and you will receive a $60.00 parking ticket on Wednesday mornings between 11am and 1pm. The parking regulation is poorly displayed and when I suggested the owner post a warning at the register, I was met with an unhelpful attitude. She also informed me that she had been "fielding complaints" all morning about the new facility. Save your money and the safety of your children. Go somewhere else. The original location was great but now it's just an unsafe and unfun ripoff.
